Get a Q6600, runs cooler and uses less voltage than the Q6700 and you can overclock it to what the Q6700 would overclock to. You should spend the extra money to get the Q9xxx series IMO, 45nm chips, less voltage, more overclocking.
I assume the 147gb HD is 10k rpm correct? If so thats good.
Buy 2 extra case fans for the antec case, 120mm.
I have the same PSU, should work fine.
The ram - Trash that cheap ram, and get some PC28500 ram, the 1066mhz kind. Trust me, anything that underperforms will help in bottlenecking your system.
You won't be getting insane FPS with a single 8800gt, sign up for EVGAs step up program (they take your card, and the price you paid for it and sell you a new card for that price off.)
Buy a 9800gx2, or a new 260 (hold off on the 280).
Your system is performing good.
Sorry bud, to play bioshock on max you need a video card that will cost 200+ (maybe even 400+).
No way will you get a monitor and a computer for 300 pounds, impossible unless you steal your parts... Then you wouldn't be buying it would you :P?
I was thinking of getting - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146785
Pretty good reviews, decent price. I only have vista 32bit, but when I order my new motherboard eventually I will buy an OEM version of vista 64.
Anyone know any better ram?
If you are still looking for psu, look out for corsair and thermaltake they are good brands. Antec is good too. With any PSU, you have to do research and find out what you need such as, the new nvidia graphics cards require an 8 and 6 pin PSU connecters and most only come with two 6 pin connecters. Especially if you plan on SLI that really only leaves you 1 or 2 viable choices for PSU in the end.felenor
The PSU I have LUCKILY has a 6 pin + 2 :).
Imo you should send it back and get something that has more amps on it. Definitly if you plan to sli it.blackleather223
Can you help me choose a good PSU :)?
Hello, I just bought a Neopower 650w for my computer, and installed it.
Noticed it has 3 12v rails @ 19 amps. Running an 8800GT that requires 24 amps, and plan on SLI.
Since it has 3 12v rails am I fine? or should I RMA it and get something with a higher amp on it's rails?
Ok thanks alot yea, 2 years I'm off to university so, value prices on computers now will certainly last me for the time I need it for. As then I would need to buy a laptop and I'm not stuck with old technology anyways.nightwraith40k
Wait for the new cards to come out from Nvidia, buy one or two of them and you win for a year or two, run highest settings for at least 8+ months.
