e008 & Orbital Tree

First of all, I would want to thank to those guys from Red Water Designs, because is their fault I want to become a designer! Or sort of... And now that I made some progress, here's two recent works, the first one is an abstract one, made in MS Paint, for a competition on TDU, and the 2nd is 'Orbital Tree', a photo manipulation I made in ACDSee, for a competition on Red Water Designs. Cheers, guys! :D

Chill()out, dude!!!

OMG!!! I have lots of problems. Problems with GameSpot, problems with the video issue, problems with MP3.com, problems even with my health! There's lots of problems! And I'm in vacation, it is supposed to be OK.

First of all, have you ever met a user that had in his 'Now Playing' list, a game that doesn't even exist. And that's Balance, a game that I reviewed just after being added in the GameSpot database. More exactly, Lee Alessi added at my suggestion this puzzle game named Balance, and I reviewed just after Lee added the game in the GameSpot database. Yesterday, I posted the boxshot of Balance on that thread, called The Collection Missing Games Thread (GameSpot Technical Support is the only board on GameSpot where Lee posts), and he finally added the boxshot to the same game, but for Ballance. Yes, the game isn't called Balance, it's called Ballance. So, the old gamespace was completely delete, and so, there's now a blank space in the lists of my 'Games' tab. In the 'Now Playing' list, for eg., there's a blank space which only says "Users: 2". And I've deleted it, cause it's useless. Anyway, made the major changes, but, still, my review has been deleted. So, I have to make a new one, though it looks like I have a part of my first review in one of my files. But I'd like to make a new one, even better.

I feel like a guinea pig! Because I've discovered a next-gen glitch, which I have encountered about 2 times. It's very odd, it's about the Favourite Boards list. IF you press the link of a UCB (or a ex-UCB, such as Welcome Newbies), it says 'Page 404 not found'. If you press the link of a union board, it directs well. However, the weirdest part is that, once you press the link of a official GameSpot board (except Welcome Newbies), you are re-directed to the last game board you've visited!!! In my first case, Archer Maclean's Mercury, in my second case, Ballance. Weird, isn't it? Even som you can still enter those boards, but you have to search alot for them.

I was so happy that now the Basic users can upload videos, that I didn't realised I have to have some good ideas for a user video, I wanted to upload a music video, but the copyright made me headaches I had to quit. Now I'm thinking of a speed run from Mono or Ballance. Still have to think about this...

Anyway, I don't want to talk about my health problems. I'm working on it and probably it isn't that worse.

And let me talk now about music... As you may know, I'm a big fan of electronica & jazz. Well, maybe you don't know it but I'm an expert in chillout. Maybe not as good as Claude Challe (Buddha-Bar), Jose Padilla, DJ Bruno (both - Cafe del Mar) or Stephane Pompougnac (Hotel Costes). But, at least, I knew some basics when it comes to making good chillout playlists. First of all, relaxation can't be obtained unless you add some really good chilling tunes, for eg. you can't go wrong with Thievery Corporation or Lemon Jelly. Then, you would surely impress with some good chillout tunes almost no-one heard of. It's kinda hard to keep tabs on all the latest chillout tunes, so it's something recommended only for chillout master or wannabies. Such as me. Anyway, the point is I'm very good when it comes to relax music compilations! :P If you want to recommend some, I could PM you an entire list! Okay... Now, there aren't only good compilations...

There are three types of compilations:

1) Very good compilations. These really provides relaxation. eg. Buddha-Bar, Cafe del Mar, Cafe Ibiza, le cafe abstrait.

2) Compilations that are easily forgetable. Good compilations but not  consistently good. These include, usually, songs from known artists. eg. UltraChill

3) Compilations that are so worse that you can't believe your ears. The example of this category, Chillout Session, will be analized right here and right now.

I was preparing a review for this compilation called Chillout Session, but when I searched on MP3.com and even Amazon, I've seen only compilations with the same name, with the same label (Ministry of Sound) but with different playlists. These are much better than the Chillout Session I've listened to recently. What I've listened to is an awful compilation. From the start, it's obvious how good is this album, thanks to the poor artwork cover, much worser than any other compilation. The playlist include tunes from... Tiesto, ATB, In-Grid and so on. By far, the best track on the album is 'Terrace' by a little known band called Orchid. This song also appeared on that MTV's Lounge disc. If you didn't so far realised, I will say it to you: THIS ALBUM IS AWFUL. So awful that only our dear Romanian friends wanted to import it... Or maybe the disc is made in Romania!...

Okay, enough is enough! In this case, I'd better talk about chillout music aswell, but not about the worst compilation ever. No sir.

ABSTRAIT - 10 YEARS OF RELAXATION

Raphael Marionneau is one of the most innovative DJs ever. He was borned in the French town of Nancy and was exiled in Hamburg, Germany, where he still plays as a DJ, along other known DJs such as DJ Bruno. Although he founded the 'Abstrait Music' label in January 2002 with Nartak D. Schubel, his work dates back from 1996, when he started the french chillout 'le cafe abstrait' series at the Mojo Club from Hamburg. Since then, he made several compilations (most of them containing the word 'abstrait' along other French words), all of them considered as masterpieces of chillout. The biggest addition to the 'le cafe abstrait' are the 'le classique abstrait' series, which takes a new approach to the classic music. No, he didn't made any classical music, but he did mixed masterpieces from 4 different centuries, making mixes that are so good that everybody acclaimed this event.

Since the 'Abstrait' trademark had an anniversary, new compilations will be released this year:

Le cafe abstrait vol. 5  - The epilogue of a journey (October 2006)

Unknown playlist.

Le classique abstrait vol. 3 (August 2006)

Unknown playlist.

Le rythme abstrait vol. 1 (April 2006 - out now)

Playlist:

Ypey - Daylight

Mylo - Emotion 98.6

Golden Tone Radio - Better Days

Dreamscape - I Love U

Jeff Bennett - Emerging Sights

Duptribe - La Soupe Aux Choux

Norman Feller - Cafe Electronica

Moonbootica - June

Ada - Les Danseuses

Soehngen - Bridgepop Highway

Naomi feat. Selda Kaya - Heavy Little Lights

Marmion - Schoneberg

Armonia - Lake Michigan

And, finally, I would like to hear your opinions about my jazzy new blog header. Feedback, please!

Ending transmission,

Ponsardin

P.S. Thanks Lee for saving my Ballance review!

What Ponsardin achieved at school

Heh, I won the 3rd place this year at school, with the overall score of 9,29. Plus, the award paper or whatever it's called, looks much better than the 'award paper' my friend and others received (their place was worse than 3).

Here's all the scores I've obtain in these three grades:

Grade V: 9,53 - 2nd place

Grade VI: 9,18 - 4th or 5th place, not very sure

Grade VII: 9,29 - 3rd place

Created a union

Finally made a union. It's called the Vermouth Union and is basically dedicated to almost any form of good, very good and excellent music. The main genres I'm focusing on are Electronica and Jazz. That's right! If you know somebody who likes these types of genres or yourself do listen to such music, sent me a PM and you will get yourself a spot in the union! Because the union will be based on applies for membership. That's because this union isn't for anybody. However, I do make some exceptions, for example, when the person I'm inviting is a good mod. Feel free to tell your thoughts about this new union right now!

Cool Videos Galore Part X - Anthology

This is the 10th part of my Cool Videos Galore, containing the best pics from the best videos ever. Buckle up for a cool anthology!

Future Sound of London - Ameoba (for it's ethereal beauty as an eye candy and for the impressive, spiritual underwater scenes)

Banco de Gaia - Soufie (because the style of this video is so... cool)

BT - Embracing the Sunshine (quite self-explanatory)

Schneider TM/Kpt.Michi.Gan - The Light 3000 (because of the stunning effects any chillout video should have)

Oval - Do While (because of the mad visuals which are alot more impressive than any video by Snoop Dogg and Puff Daddy!)

808 State - Pacific State (though there are way too many 'states' around here, the video is great)

Bjork - Oceania (because she ROCKS!!!)

The Orb - Oxbow Lakes (because of the abstract visuals and the great music)

The Orb - Perpetual Dawn (because it reminds me of art)

Lambchop - Is A Woman (just look at this and you will understand)

Air - Electronic Performers (one of the coolest black-white videos ever made)

Orbital - One Perfect Sunshine (do I really need to explain?!?)

Daedalus - Sundown (awesome video yet very new one)

Smog - Rock Bottom Riser (superb watercolor video)

Goldfrapp - Utopia (when Alison Goldfrapp made really good trip-hop music... now she is too electro-clash...)

Alex Gopher - The Child (because of the excessive use of text to create an awesome effect)

Daisy Daisy - Michelle Plays Ping Pong (better watch it... it's my advise)

Lemon Jelly - Nice Weather for Ducks (finally a Lemon Jelly video!)

Lemon Jelly - The Slow Train (barely find shots from this video on the Internet. Minimalistic video which can be seen only on the ''64-'95' video DVD)

Awful... I gotta stop now! My back hurts........ Ouch!!!

School out/2006 MP3 Awards

I'm back from school! Done with it, now I have access to a beautiful summer vacation! Though I heard there are some countries where the school lasts all the 12 months, not 6 months from the year x, and 6 months from the year x+1. :P

OK. I'm so tired and bored and sick of Shakira's song 'Hips Don't Lie', which practically stuck in my head without wanting that to happen. Why? Because my coleagues were kept playing it. Now my head hurts and I need some good music. Now I will listen to "The Garden", the newest album from one of my favourite bands, Zero 7. Eh, Shakira's song is awful...

Speaking of music. Someone started the unofficial voting procedure for 2006 MP3 Awards, if that will gonna happen officially. Anyway, I'm happy that I have a nominee at the category 'Best Poster', someone voted for me and I hope others will come to vote me.

Thumbs up to the 9th part of my Cool Videos Galore!

Feelin' the blues or the chillin'.

Oh my god, how comes everytime when it's monday, I have so many things to say in my blog? My brain is flooded and I trying to remember all the things I could say here.

First of all, it's level celebration time! Level 13 - Toobin' with a starter procentage of 2%. That's cool!

Back home from school, I find out that I have to make a visit to some of my relatives. Cool! Now I just returned home, to surf on the Internet. Well, those relatives I visited live in a poor neighbourhood, pretty close to the neighbourhood where I live. There's where my mum and her sisters and brothers grew up. Nice.

But what I really expected that it was going to rain! Well, alright, just before I exit the school, a rain stopped. By the way, the smell of that rain was terrible. Smelled like fish. Maybe that cloud were vapours from the water of the Black Sea or the Siutghiol Lake. Rather, Black Sea. It didn't smelled that fishy now. Well it looks like it still rains.

OK, but there's no reason to be sad. Once I arrived there, they were already expecting me with some food. Although I already ate the lunch, that didn't stopped me from eating some food... That I've enjoyed, of course. Anyway, tried to deal with two glasses of Fanta. Every time I drinked a small part of it, my stomach felt like it was full. (BREAKING NEWS: The sun rised again, but it still rains!!!) In spite of this fact, I only went once at the bathroom.

They were redecorating the kitchen and the hallroom. I felt like home in the kitchen, because of the floor. The patterns in that kitchen and the patterns in my kitchen were very similar, if not identical. Anyway, pretty dark there. (There's no window to the exterior.)

The birds are weird. They kept singing although it rained heavily. (BREAKING NEWS: Looks like the rain tempered itself. Saw some birds at my window. They flew away because I scared them.) Alright, everything was (going to be) fine. I was chillin' the concreate by threwing some water from time to time. I always do that in every summer, at every relative who has a... (BREAKING NEWS: The rain stopped!!! The sunshine is on active duty!)

Okay. I was drinking some Prigat. Then going right in the middle of the street. By the way, the street looked awful, but no-one wants to put some concreate, from obscure reasons. Anyway, I was standing in the middle of the street when I heard something. Oh no, the clouds looked and sounded like there will be a rain. Then, a water drop hit me. WHAT WAS THAT?!? I said when other water drops hit me. Yes, the rain started. Then, we went to a shelter and started admiring the rain. Man, the rain was very, very loud. And I was about to thought that we will be flooded, as the water came straight in our direction! So lucky that we have at least an evacuation system...

Okay, enough of this story. Let's see... I've just re-installed my Windows. It's a torture! Anyway, installed some basic applications that I need. Wondered why I kept posting on GameSpot? The answer is: two computers. Smart, isn't it?
