OMG!!! I have lots of problems. Problems with GameSpot, problems with the video issue, problems with MP3.com, problems even with my health! There's lots of problems! And I'm in vacation, it is supposed to be OK.
First of all, have you ever met a user that had in his 'Now Playing' list, a game that doesn't even exist. And that's Balance, a game that I reviewed just after being added in the GameSpot database. More exactly, Lee Alessi added at my suggestion this puzzle game named Balance, and I reviewed just after Lee added the game in the GameSpot database. Yesterday, I posted the boxshot of Balance on that thread, called The Collection Missing Games Thread (GameSpot Technical Support is the only board on GameSpot where Lee posts), and he finally added the boxshot to the same game, but for Ballance. Yes, the game isn't called Balance, it's called Ballance. So, the old gamespace was completely delete, and so, there's now a blank space in the lists of my 'Games' tab. In the 'Now Playing' list, for eg., there's a blank space which only says "Users: 2". And I've deleted it, cause it's useless. Anyway, made the major changes, but, still, my review has been deleted. So, I have to make a new one, though it looks like I have a part of my first review in one of my files. But I'd like to make a new one, even better.
I feel like a guinea pig! Because I've discovered a next-gen glitch, which I have encountered about 2 times. It's very odd, it's about the Favourite Boards list. IF you press the link of a UCB (or a ex-UCB, such as Welcome Newbies), it says 'Page 404 not found'. If you press the link of a union board, it directs well. However, the weirdest part is that, once you press the link of a official GameSpot board (except Welcome Newbies), you are re-directed to the last game board you've visited!!! In my first case, Archer Maclean's Mercury, in my second case, Ballance. Weird, isn't it? Even som you can still enter those boards, but you have to search alot for them.
I was so happy that now the Basic users can upload videos, that I didn't realised I have to have some good ideas for a user video, I wanted to upload a music video, but the copyright made me headaches I had to quit. Now I'm thinking of a speed run from Mono or Ballance. Still have to think about this...
Anyway, I don't want to talk about my health problems. I'm working on it and probably it isn't that worse.
And let me talk now about music... As you may know, I'm a big fan of electronica & jazz. Well, maybe you don't know it but I'm an expert in chillout. Maybe not as good as Claude Challe (Buddha-Bar), Jose Padilla, DJ Bruno (both - Cafe del Mar) or Stephane Pompougnac (Hotel Costes). But, at least, I knew some basics when it comes to making good chillout playlists. First of all, relaxation can't be obtained unless you add some really good chilling tunes, for eg. you can't go wrong with Thievery Corporation or Lemon Jelly. Then, you would surely impress with some good chillout tunes almost no-one heard of. It's kinda hard to keep tabs on all the latest chillout tunes, so it's something recommended only for chillout master or wannabies. Such as me. Anyway, the point is I'm very good when it comes to relax music compilations! :P If you want to recommend some, I could PM you an entire list! Okay... Now, there aren't only good compilations...
There are three types of compilations:
1) Very good compilations. These really provides relaxation. eg. Buddha-Bar, Cafe del Mar, Cafe Ibiza, le cafe abstrait.
2) Compilations that are easily forgetable. Good compilations but not consistently good. These include, usually, songs from known artists. eg. UltraChill
3) Compilations that are so worse that you can't believe your ears. The example of this category, Chillout Session, will be analized right here and right now.
I was preparing a review for this compilation called Chillout Session, but when I searched on MP3.com and even Amazon, I've seen only compilations with the same name, with the same label (Ministry of Sound) but with different playlists. These are much better than the Chillout Session I've listened to recently. What I've listened to is an awful compilation. From the start, it's obvious how good is this album, thanks to the poor artwork cover, much worser than any other compilation. The playlist include tunes from... Tiesto, ATB, In-Grid and so on. By far, the best track on the album is 'Terrace' by a little known band called Orchid. This song also appeared on that MTV's Lounge disc. If you didn't so far realised, I will say it to you: THIS ALBUM IS AWFUL. So awful that only our dear Romanian friends wanted to import it... Or maybe the disc is made in Romania!...
Okay, enough is enough! In this case, I'd better talk about chillout music aswell, but not about the worst compilation ever. No sir.
ABSTRAIT - 10 YEARS OF RELAXATION
Raphael Marionneau is one of the most innovative DJs ever. He was borned in the French town of Nancy and was exiled in Hamburg, Germany, where he still plays as a DJ, along other known DJs such as DJ Bruno. Although he founded the 'Abstrait Music' label in January 2002 with Nartak D. Schubel, his work dates back from 1996, when he started the french chillout 'le cafe abstrait' series at the Mojo Club from Hamburg. Since then, he made several compilations (most of them containing the word 'abstrait' along other French words), all of them considered as masterpieces of chillout. The biggest addition to the 'le cafe abstrait' are the 'le classique abstrait' series, which takes a new approach to the classic music. No, he didn't made any classical music, but he did mixed masterpieces from 4 different centuries, making mixes that are so good that everybody acclaimed this event.
Since the 'Abstrait' trademark had an anniversary, new compilations will be released this year:
Le cafe abstrait vol. 5 - The epilogue of a journey (October 2006)
Unknown playlist.
Le classique abstrait vol. 3 (August 2006)
