Buy and finish both Portal games. Portal 2 was my personal GOTY and I am sure after playing it you will soon come to realise why I and many others think the same.

Steam is an excellent service, hassle free, great sales and has many useful applications built specifically for PC gamers in mind. In addition the money made from Steam goes directly to Valve who are one of the few developers remaining who continue to produce great PC games.

[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"]WoW does most things TOR does better. TOR is really a carbon copy of WoW in terms of gameplay. The only unique thing the game has going for it is lol Star Wars and cutscenes. If you want to kill WoW, you need to redefine the MMO genre. That is what Guild Wars 2 will do.Inconsistancy

What, are you PR from Arena.net? WoW 'killed' EQ, w/o redefining anything, just by improving everything. TOR adds in something NO other MMO has, and it's the 'clone'

Anyway, I think WoW may end up with real competition, finally. MMO's generally suffer from extremely low attach rates, 10% or less, the fact that TOR feels like a proper RPG, a proper GAME, rather than a boring slog to max level, should get it a much higher attach rate.

Can you link me to a source about these attach rates? I was curious who was providing this information.

Waiting for 3DS-"Lite" version to come out before buying. If Kid Icarus turns out to be good I will probably buy a 3DS at that time.

Where is the best place to buy it? Seems to be a very promising game.

DotA and HoN. CoD has nothing on those guys.rzepak

This. The CS and COD community are saints compared to the Dota and HoN community.

[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]

Got into testing. Realized the beta was a 25gb download. Laughed and walked away :P

Nightflash28

I had the whole thing downloaded in less than an hour. :-| Anyways, I played the beta for a short bit this weekend, didn't draw me in. I did play WoW, Guildwars, Warhammer, Rift, etc... I can understand that someone who's never spent much time on MMOs will find this an extreme lot of fun and the sense of accomplishment exhilarating. Except for the story moments in which you can make your own choices, this is a pretty standard MMO and follows the same queues as the above mentioned titles. Unfortunately, I didn't find it to be something spectacular. It's good, but I doubt I will pick it up.

100% agree. I feel SWTOR will bring in many new people into MMO's particularly those into Star Wars and fans of Bioware games. However the game is like a carbon copy of WoW with added features which does not warrant my purchase.

If it ever goes free to play, I will probably give it another go to play for the class specific quests.

A lot of big Steam games recently have been full-priced, true, but there are still many new releases on Steam that don't have regional pricing, their sales apply worldwide, and we can usually go buy Steam games for a lower price off Green Man Gaming anyway.

As for Origin, every single one of their games is regionally-priced, their sales/promotions tend to be exclusive to their US customers, and cheaper options aren't readily available (unless we physically import the games). They are far more restrictive than Steam, and as a major console publisher with strong ties to many retailers, they aren't going to lower their prices anytime soon.

Basically, Origin is one of the worst of the major DD stores for Australian gamers.

Planeforger

100% agree. Origin predominately caters to US and EA have made next to no effort in appealing to Aussies.
