Now I understand why the topic help a noob PLEASE! had to be locked, but I was thoroughly enjoying the mocking by the other members and was in the midst of posting my own reply when it got shut-down.
So in the interest of giving some helpful advice to people like this:
The proper way to install your "downloaded" game is:
1) Go to your local computer game store and purchase the title you just downloaded
2) Plave the shiny new CD/DVD that you now have into your drive
3) Follow the handy direction that will be displayed when the disc auto-plays
There, now you know how to install a game!
archaic coding and development procedures that aren't on vista

I really don't think that the architecture of Vista is so different that you couldn't run DX10 on it. And if Vista doesn't have such archaic coding procedures then how come it doesn't run 10X's better than XP?
I'm afraid I don't know, according to that webpage after it fails to activate over the net it's supposed to give you a choice to activate manually (see Step #2 on that webpage). If that's not working you're going to have to go ask in the Atari forums and hope they can help you out.
Good Luck.
maybe they are getting a little smarter, not releasing DX10 on XP was a big mistake, its the main reason why DX10 failed reallyrob1101I completely agree, I never understood their decision. Well, I guess it was because they were trying desperately to come up with reasons for people to buy Vista.
Seems like it, which is good.
Anyway, I just posted what I did to make sure people were aware that those were StarForce games so they didn't end up having it installed without knowing it if the downloads did have it.

Thanks for posting the info, it's important that people know any possible down-sides to playing these games.
