I think we can safely say it is you who is gender confused not being able to tell the difference of what is a male and female character in a JRPG and all. There is not one JRPG character out there that looks like a fat guy dressed in sailor moon clothing.

I don't know where the pedo comment came from. Do you even know what one is?

I don't think western developers where being very creative when making generic meat head solider characters or mute characters that start off with no back story whatsoever(elder scrolls). Fact of the matter is really, this guy. Cloud has a far more intresting story to tell than any western character out there.

And no Star Ocean 4 is real time combat just like Star Ocean 3 and 2,1 before it

Ibacai

The characters themself may have no story but the overall world on the other hand had lots of lore.

You can't really compare the two. I've always said that WRPGs and JRPGs are almost completely different genres. The biggest difference (generally) is that in JRPGs, you play a character. In WRPGs, you create a character.

And I say this as someone who likes both a great deal. But they simply offer different things.

I like both also. FFIII and FFVII are one of my favourite games of all time. but I think Japanese role playing games are more about strategic gameplay, and it usually lacks alot of RP'ing aspects. Also WRPG genre does not feature gender confused main characters. Wich is one of the thing I dislike about them.

In the traditional sense it is less RP'ing but you are technically still playing a role. Just one not of your choosing. And what is one JRPG with a gender confused main character? Not a single one is confused about their gender, people just put their own insecurities on them while playing. Heaven forbid a guy show his chest, he must be a homosexual.

Wait, you're calling me insecure because I don't like to role play as a character that looks like a barbie doll? I think there is some other term for that. A Pedohile.

Not insecure. It just ruins the role playing aspect for me.

How can anyone state that building a PC is difficult when they've never made the attempt? Truth be told just look at a video of someone installing a heat sink over a processor. That is by far and away the hardest part and many mobo/cpu combos come with them pre-installed. The rest is just a check to see if your smart enough not to put the circle in the square hole.Konxumer

Its not difficult. But it is risky. You don't want to mess up with the CPU installing and thermal paste should be applied only by those with experience.

"*insert colorful and non-violent game here* is kiddy."leviathan91

The trend has been turned the other way arround lately.

''Games that contain a violent atmosphere are aimed towards and played by childeren''

Ironic isn't it?

JRPG characters always seem to look the same. They need to get rid of the anime inspired mushroom haired 17 year old clone teenagers. Give us something interesting. Its always the same. JRPG's will never change this way.

I like the art-style though. Looks great. But the screen in space looks CGI. Doubt that is in-game.

Intresting as in John Shepherd? :| Generic soldier hero #10,800.

Versus

Are you're actually calling Western Role Playing games generic? Kotor, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Diablo.

Western RPG's are far more original and creative games. I bet Star Ocean is still using that same old tired battle system Japanese developers don't want seem let go off.
