If you want things to change, then lead by example. Go and post some topics because this thread isn't changing anything, and it won't on its own.

I'm sure that if the majority of people wanted SW to change in the way that you do then it would've by now. It hasn't, so I guess people are OK with the way things are.

Subrosian alone cannot influence these boards. You're giving him an impossible task. Please cooperate will ya -_-

No, it's not - that would simply be a handful of people stating the same opinion of a game. Facts can be proven - one plus one can be proven to equal two - I can say "it's 30 degrees outside" and prove my notion with a thermometer. Review scores cannot be proven - they are subjective opinions generated by a small number of people regarding games.

There are thousands of people in England who claim to believe in the Jedi religion - does that mean Star Wars is real, that Luke Skywalker fought in a galaxy far far away long long ago? If all of my friends say that there is a Giant Purple Monkey living on Mars - does it suddenly come into being? Of course not - a review score is entirely subjective - it doesn't matter if I write it or if Kevin-V writes it - you can say he has more credibility than I do, but that does not change what is being done by a reviewer into something objective.

-

Murder is against the law because of a widespread belief that murder is wrong. That doesn't make "murder is wrong" a fact - it makes it a moral belief that many people share. Can I prove murder is wrong? No. Can I prove it's harmful to society? Sure - and that's why it's against the law. Following the law is "good" because it benefits society as a whole - this is the purpose of laws.

Yet in System Wars, we have no laws that dictate that review scores or sales are the only means by which we may argue - in fact, by official vote, any claims of officiality that review scores or sales had in determing the winner were *overwhelmingly* repealed in favor of anarchy. Such things were harmful to SW, there is no benefit in putting reviews or sales up on a pillar -they are opinion, and until you can mathematically prove a review score - until a method is engineered which can conclusively judge art, they will never be facts.

You cannot say "this painting is good - FACT" - you can say "I feel this painting is good" - but no matter what, your assessment of any work of art can only be an opinion - thus is the world of art - music - film - and literature. You can say *why* you feel that way - you can make your argument more credible by citing reasons, and using logical debate, but no matter what, you will never have a "1 + 1 = 2" fact.

tenaka2

Your over simplifing things, especially what opinion is. Just because something is subjective doesn't mean you should ignore everyones opinion on the matter.

I can safely argue that the Mona Lisa is a great painting. This my friend is a fact. Don't bring out some sort of scientific arguement to this, I'm sure it would be easier to have a scientific theory as to why its a fact that the painting is good rather to to have one that argues that it isnt.

I've been to Le Louvre myself in Paris. I've seen the painting in person even (beat that). And there are at least hundreds of paintings in there that completely destroy the overrated Mona Lisa creativity wise. Mona Lisa is the most overrated piece of art in human history. I don't want to label everything I say with ''imo'' behind it. But you understand what I'm getting at.

360 doesn't appeal nor does it attract to the non-gamer market. As long as this shall stay the same, I don't see anything changing anytime soon. Wii will continue to dominate sales wise, because it attracts a bigger userbase.

Maybe they would be better at making a portable system?

Seeing as theyre good at making small and sleek portable devices why not

Cali3350

They are good at marketing. VERY good at marketing mind you, but thats the extent of their powers.

The console would be white and small like the Wii is my guess. And instead of Nicole Kidman, Paris Hilton will be Apple's new face. While I personally disgust this kind of marketing, its very effective with sheeple consumers.

Remedy is famous for slow game development..Max Payne took YEARS to come out. It's just their style and I totally trust them to deliver a great game; they've never really failed.tume-x

Indeed. Same for Square Enix and their Final Fantasy franchise.

Blizzard products are gold for the same reason. Don't hate because they take their time developing.

I think the Wii is keeping the system alive due to the large amount of ports, or the other way arround.

The PS2 may even last longer then the PS1 did.

Subrosian, I'd like to thank you for making another thread that is a total waste of bandwidth. It's not System Personal Preference Logic Debate Crap, it's System Wars. Who wants to debate like this?

"Playstation Network>Xbox Live."
"Why do you say that? Give some reasons."
"My opinion."

We're supposed to debate with hard facts and scores from publications. Say for example that you like the PS3 the best but is it leading in sales? Does it have the most AAA exclusives on Gamespot or GameRankings? No. By System Wars rules, it's losing. In your eyes, yes, it's winning, but by System Wars rules it is not. And you can forget about trying to change System Wars. It's not happening. Why don't you make your own forum where you can talk about personal preference all day long instead of trying to change System Wars? It's JUST A FORUM.

The_AI

You can't simply dismiss a game because its not exclusive! Games such as Orange Box cannot be ignored.

Exclusives are for fanboys with their own selfish interest so their purchase is justified.

I completely agree with Subrosian's post. But I have no motivation whatsoever to back up his arguments, since I find it pointless. I have simply lost hope for it.

Good luck getting anything changed, Subrosian. With so many close minded people around -_-

I think we can safely say it is you who is gender confused not being able to tell the difference of what is a male and female character in a JRPG and all. There is not one JRPG character out there that looks like a fat guy dressed in sailor moon clothing.

I don't know where the pedo comment came from. Do you even know what one is?

It seems lots of JRPG haters like to use Vaan to back up there argument. Fair enough. Vaan is the gayest looking character not just in JRPGs but in Video game history but FF12 is the worst FF in the series so it's justified. Not all JRPG characters look like him. At first glance though you could still tell if Vaan is a male. But thats not the point I'm trying to make though. JRPG characters have better storylines. It's not just about the looks.

Still does not explain where the pedo comment came from though. :|

I made that comment in response to all the Adults who play Anime/Hentai inspired rp games.

So you posted a sailor moon cosplayer who happen to be a male, who happens to a cosplay character who happens to be an actual female (not faminine male)? How do you relate that to being a character WHO IS a male (more feminine, but still a male), who is being played by a male? Seriously.. First off not every characters looks that way, and second does it matter, its how he looks and nothing more. Its his character design. You knocking on it, because of that.

I'm knocking it because I see more potential in the RPG genre. Japanese developers surely aren't taking advantage of the potential. There is a open market out there. Consumers want JRPG's story driven Adult game. Square Enix will never do this as their games are open towards a more open amount of demographics.

I'm currently anticipating FFXIII versus.

And this game seems to be heading into a very different direction.

JRPG's in general are too similiar. If I won't complain. Nothing will change. I have the right to complain as it is my personal opinion. God bless freedom of speech.

who cares. its only the internet. what is said here and how doesnt matter and i'll never understand why people try to turn this place into a session of Congress.

subrosian

I don't either, that's what I'm saying - why do we get a recitation of sales numbers and review scores, instead of a discussion on what people genuinely feel / care about in gaming?

Because lack of freedom of speech prevents opiniated discussions on SW. Only facts are allowed, and sales = fact.
