Your exactly right because I do remember during the cut and paste method it asked me about half way through "are you sure you want to move the read-only file" and I clicked yes (I presume I did this for all of them) not thinking it would cause this phenomina.

Oh wow!!! Can someone, anyone tell me if I'm complete screwed or is there the slightest hope of recovery?

Anything would help at this point. If anyone has a clue please let me know. If they truely are unrecoverable, well then I guess I tried.

[QUOTE="kodex1717"]The website that you're thinking of is PortForward.com.ch5richards

Yup, thats it, sorry I am fighting a massive head cold, and losing I might add.

Quad, how much did you look at that site? They have step-by step instructions with pics, here, this is the page for your specific router. Just click on the game or program you are looking to portforward if it is there and you should be good to go.

I tried it again ch5richards and it works now beautifully. I guess I just didn't follow step by step. It was much easier than I imagined. Thanks alot! Now if I can only get my other question answered about my encrypted files...

I sure can't buddy. Here's what it says when I try to move, cut, or copy 'Mad Max' for example from E (external) to C (main)...

"Cannot copy Mad Max: Access is denied.

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use".

This is the message it gives me everytime. The file shouldn't be in use by another program because I've literally closed everything so I don't see how this is possible. I have plenty of disk space so that can't be the case. Write-protected? What does this mean?

See here's the thing..

My downloads in Azereus are blazing fast but some files I try to download fails and gives me a message about "this file supports multiple scrapes per request" or something to that effect and won't download. Their not password protected because they come from sites in which I'm signed up to. I was told to port forward. If it's this much trouble then I'll just leave that site and find something else.

Thanks.

Various formats I suppose. Several of them I know are divx and xvid, which are the ones I made. But there are others like mpeg1 or some other random format that I downloaded from the web and I'm unable to open them as well.

What's funny is that not all of the videos are encrypted. Very strange because I backed them all up at the same time yesterday. I'de say about 40% of the files are unplayable, access is denied, etc. It's like their corrupt or something. When I try to open the files in media player classic it says 'file not found. However, the file sizes are still there. Like, I got some xvid and divx movies that still show up 700mb in properties. But access is denied.

I am so confused but I tell' ya what... Konex you'de be an absolute lifesavor if you can help. I have almost a year's worth of downoads and some personal vids as well on this Maxtor onetouch4 500gig drive that's just sitting here taking up space.

I've tried but it's all a bunch of mumbo-jumbo which makes my head spin. I'm not computer illiterate. I built my own pc and all and for the most part I understand about 90% of port forwarding.. but I'm not doing something right.

Could someone please either type a simple step by step solution to allow open ports for using particular apps with this router. If you don't feel like it.. maybe direct me to another site that's a little more user friendly. Thanks again.

Hey everyone,

I encrypted some avi files months ago. Before I reinstalled Windows XP Pro, I moved all files to an external hard drive. Now I cannot play any of those encrypted files with media player. I can't delete or move them. I can't decrypt them either. This is the message I get:

'Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct.'

Does anyone have a solution? I tried a few things I read on the internet but none worked. Oh yeah, the name of the files are highlighted in green.....I guess its an indicator that the files are encrypted. I don't remember using a special program to encrypt the files. I must have done it through the standard windows xp service. Please help me. Thanks in advanced.

ps- sorry if this is not the appropriate forum for this question.. but both Maxtor and Microsoftdoesn't want to help much with the problem. I got some priceless vids that I made and I'm running out of options.
