FIFA Soccer 11 - Be A Goal Keeper Tutorial

EA have released a tutorial video which offers a look into how the 'Be A Goalkeeper' mode is going to work in their upcoming sphere kicking simulator, FIFA 11.

Control of the keeper appears to be fully manual so I expect trying to fool your mate playing as a goalkeeper with a fake shot or nine before sticking it in the net will be popular on Xbox LIVE when this game launches. Take a look at the tutorial for yourself and see what you think.

Buy two games, get a $25 gift card at Best Buy

Best Buy is offering a pretty sweet incentive to do your game shopping on its online store. The retailer will reward you with a $25 gift card when you purchase two games or accessories from its site. There's no end date listed for the promotion, but there is a list you'll have to choose your games or gear from. Don't worry about having to pick from a crop of stinkers though — it contains 694 items, including all the big upcoming releases.

Keep in mind that this deal is only available through BestBuy.com and that, as the fine print says, the gift card will ship separately. (Hopefully that isn't retail-speak for "three months later.")

Mod at your own risk: How to put an old Xbox 360 HDD into Xbox 360 S

We're no good with screwdrivers -- OK, well, some of us are -- so we'd probably never attempt to mod our shiny new 4GB Xbox 360 S by fitting an old hard drive in it. If you're braver than us (very likely), feel free to check out the step-by-step guide past the break, which pulls back the curtain on the magical process of techno-wizardy fueling this hybrid of form and frugality.

Of course, it goes without saying that this will totally void your warranty, but we thought we'd say it anyway.

Halo Reach Downloaders Face Xbox Live Ban

Game enthusiasts who download pirated copies of the forthcoming Halo Reach title will face a permanent ban from the Xbox Live multiplayer service if they're caught, a Microsoft official warned.

As with all unauthorized play on Xbox Live, anyone playing an unauthorized title runs the risk of account permaban," said Stephen Toulouse, director of policy and enforcement for Xbox Live, in a message posted on Twitter.

"Remember, legit store-bought copy runs no risk of ban. Key word: unauthorized. We have ways of knowing," Toulouse ominously warned.

Toulouse's post came after it was revealed leaked copies of Halo Reach have appeared on illicit file sharing sites such as Pirate Bay in the past several days. Evidence of illegally downloaded copies of the game has shown up on YouTube.

Microsoft said it's probing the breach. "We are still investigating details surrounding a claimed leak of Halo Reach and have nothing further to share," a company spokesman said.

Halo Reach, the latest in the blockbuster Halo series for Xbox 360, is one of the most hotly anticipated games for 2010. Distributed by Microsoft and produced by Bungie studio, it's set to make its formal debut on Sept. 14.

Halo Reach is billed as a prequel to the original game. "Halo Reach follows the story of Noble Team, a squad of heroic Spartan soldiers as they make their final stand on planet Reach, humanity's last line of defense between the terrifying Covenant and Earth," according to Microsoft.

The game features a new graphics engine that offers enhanced visuals over its predecessors, Microsoft said. The basic edition will sell for $59.99, while the limited and legendary editions will be priced at $79.99 and $149.99, respectively.

Halo is the top-selling video game franchise of all time, according to Guinness World Records.

Xbox 360 Dashboard Update Coming Before Kinect

Microsoft has confirmed the new dashboard update for Xbox 360 will be available before the launch of Kinect in November.

Xbox Live's Ijaz Akram revealed the news to GamerZines while talking about the future of Xbox Live and how the "right level of engagement" between the community is needed to take the platform forward.

He explained, "You'll see that when we launch on November 10th with Kinect and soon before that we'll have a new dashboard update with all the great new features that come as part of Kinect and make Live a really good experience."

Akram couldn't give a release date though saying Microsoft hasn't decided a date yet. The new update will come with a new dashboard specifically designed for the motion controller including the ability to play movies using your hands gestures and voice.

Kinect launches on November 4 in the US, and on Europe on November 10.

4 Player Co-Op on Legendary in Reach is the "Most Challenging, Hardcore Hal

"One of the new things to the series is our base AI, base difficulty in the game will now scale automatically depending on the number of players in the game," Bungie's Community Director, Brian Jarrard, told.

"Even if you're still playing normal, 4 players on normal will actually be more challenging than one player on normal," continued Jarrard, "which is nice, you know? In Halo 3, 4 player games were 4 times as easy; you just steamrolled through it."

"What that really means is... legendary, 4 players and all the skulls turned on is the most challenging, hardcore Halo experience we've ever produced. Hopefully that will keep fans busy for a while."

I'm not sure about keeping them busy, but it may shut them up about that Legendary solo achievement.
