I'm not worried because God does not require us nor will the Gospel be hindered by false teachings. However, I do believe this integration of faiths is wrong and untrue.

[QUOTE="XD4NTESINF3RNOX"] Do you really want me to go through my messed up childhood:? I'll keep it short parents got drunk they yelled and aruged with each other, one time my father choked my mother I had to always stop the fights is that what you wanted to hear? I'm done with God

I'm sorry you've had to deal with such things. It's horrible some things we go through in life. At times life is not what we wish it to be and we go through the worst of things in life. However, God is not to blame. Sure you can give him your frustrations and concerns but he in no way at fault. Even in the midst of our suffering, God is still a good God.

[QUOTE="XD4NTESINF3RNOX"] who's Joel Osteen? Anyway the reason why I'm happier is I know longer have to wonder why I'm not good enough for him, or wonder why he hates me, etc those questions turned into hatred for him when I was in highschool, but now since I'm more rational I have just stopped caring all together.

He's the pastor of the largest church in the United States. He preaches a partial message that says the equivalent of, if you are a good person then God will bless you in this life. Essentially, he's a motivational speaker that uses some Bible verses out of context. But as for why you say that, I imagine it would be difficult going through that. However, we do not have to face God's wrath if we turn to his mercy in Christ.

So then you were expecting happiness from God? I think you've been hearing too much from Joel Osteen or at least from that mentality. God does not promise happiness in this life but purposeful suffering.

no need to start an argument here. And he did not at all say any of that.

I am not intending to start one. I just do not want someone to turn from God because of a misunderstanding. I'm here to build people up, not tear them down.

It depends on what you mean by the Christmas spirit. If you mean in the spirit as according to popular culture, no. If you mean in the spirit like Mary in Luke 1:46, yes - "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior."

[QUOTE="supa_badman"][QUOTE="Johnny-n-Roger"] Agreed, so lets not pretend to know :P. I just think it's laughable when Christians attempt to explain everything as being "god's will" instead of investigating any sort of logical explanation. It just seems like a cop-out as someone is either lazy, or intellectually incapable of using such logic.

I agree, although faith's an essential part, I need something more than that. Sadly not a lot of Christians are like that.

In some ways I agree but other ways not. Christians believe in a logical God and thus all things that are true should be the result of rational cause and effect. However, Christians are also called to "walk by faith and not by sight." There are times when the Christian is called to do something that makes absolutely no sense in our own state of mind but simply trust that God is in control.

[QUOTE="Johnny-n-Roger"] no. He was an atheist.

No he was not. He wasn't a Christian but he was no atheist. He did not hold to the position that God was a personal and knowable God. Einstein once said, "I believe in Spinoza's God, Who reveals Himself in the lawful harmony of the world, not in a God Who concerns Himself with the fate and the doings of mankind." And since everyone seems to try to quote Einstein wrongly, I'll give an actually reference. - Albert Einstein: Philosopher-Scientist edited by Paul Arthur Schilpp (The Open Court Publishing Co., La Salle, Illinois, Third Edition, 1970) pp. 659 - 660.
