Modern Warfare 3 Release Date Could Change November Lineup
"Activision has announced First Person Shooter Modern Warfare 3: America Under Siege and begun the massive marketing campaign that we all knew was inevitably coming to us this year from the Call of Duty camp (see what I did there?). Call of Duty titles typically move other games out of the way. When their November release dates are announced you can see each year that a great deal of major titles position themselves to be outside of the November release window as to not clash with the First Person Shooter titan. This year things will likely go the same route, or will it?
With 2011 we have a rare situation for Call of Duty as a franchise to face. There are a great deal of heavyweight First Person and Third Person shooters heading to release within the holiday time frame, November is crowded this year and it doesn't look like anyone is backing down.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: America Under Siege is going up against the likes of Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3. Mass Effect 3 and Gears of War 3 were thought to be November releases but have since moved themselves out of this field of competition while Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3 remain strong. There is a potential that these could be delayed or pushed ahead of schedule to avoid the clash as well."
"As it stands, gamers are in for an incredible November. But what if Activision is uncomfortable with allowing their latest Call of Duty title to be compared from a qualitative state between the likes of Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3? Would it be possible that this time around the giant may consider re-thinking its release date strategy, or will they stand their ground? Gamers need to be picky with their hard-earned dollars these days and Activision will want to maximize sales any way they can. It feels like November is a month where shooters will look at each other and say "there ain't room enough for the both of us".
