@timmyp1982: One way of regulating just is to make illegal under certain circumstances, like when the player is under 21.

@Gelugon_baat: Buuuuut, gambling is something that the government *already* regulates. This isn't a case of governments treating video games differently than other media (as the government has tried to do with violence)--it's case of the government treating them exactly the same. If you're OK with the government regulating slot machines that pay out in quarters, you should be OK with the government regulating slot machines that pay out in micro-dlc.

@manu_pt: That's just not how people use the term. "Gamer" is like "movie buff," we don't call someone a movie buff just because they occasionally watch movies. It's meant to pick out those who are most passionate about gaming not merely from those who never touch a videogame, but also from those who do so only occasionally.

@jcwainc: Well, Doom is a fast-paced twitch shooter that had it's FPS and resolution cut in half. So, it's a significantly different experience on switch. Stardew valley is a slow-paed game that needed no changes in order to run on Switch's hardware.

@halflight87: Yes, in a year or so we will for the first time EVER have monitors CAPABLE of running 4K@144. But (1) the first 120Hz monitor was released way back in 2009 (src: http://tinyurl.com/yd45l98b) and as you said "60 is the standard." 8 Years and still 60. (2) it does not follow that we have GPUs capable of pushing 4K at 144 Fps. Gamespot put together a list (http://tinyurl.com/y8llw4op) of 16 games that you can't even AVERAGE 4K60 with an overclocked GTX 1080. 10 of them you can't even average 30! And that list has grown since (http://tinyurl.com/y98ycw9x, http://tinyurl.com/y6uyl49w). It's likely there that will be NO 2018 SETUP that can consistently push 4K@144 on recent titles. Hell, you won't be able to have a max fps of 144 at 4K on many titles no matter what your setup. (3) And it REALLY doesn't follow that a setup that can push 4k@144 will become standard. That would require upgrading both your monitor AND buying multiple Titan X3s (or whatever they're called) and even that probably won't do it. The vast majority of gamers aren't doing that

@halflight87: I was with till you said the standard will be 4K 144fps in "a year or so." Unless that "or so" extends out like 5 to 10 years, I don't see it...
