@RS13: You'll note that he says "almost half, but less than half," but then gives the range of "30 seconds to 40 seconds for every minute of Xbox 1 S loading."
My best guess is that that's the root cause of the problem: 30-40 is actually a really big range in this case, since 40 is 33% decrease (which is to be expected with a 50% increase) while 30 is a 50% increase (to be expected only with a 100% speed increase). And the games that he actually tests skew much closer to the 33% decrease than the 50% decrease--the closest he comes is a 42% decrease in ACO (from 60 seconds down to 35). So my suspicion is that reports of decrease by half are actually the results of bad geusstimation. It's also worth noting that, depending on how extensively the HDD on the textbox 1 S has been used, it could slow down due to fragmentation.
Regardless, all things being equal, you shouldn't see shouldn't see that kind of increase between such similar drives. If you are, it's a software problem, not a hardware solution.
@Legend_of_Link: Perhaps certain games will load faster. ACO seems to be one of those. (Though the video below reports number far less than the numbers given in the video you linked.) In general, you're looking at the X loading times being at roughly 66% as long as the S (which makes sense given the 50% bump in HDD speed). And that's what we get here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cplUf_VUea0
(Which, you'll note, reports speeds on GOW that align GS's test even when loading 1080P content.)
@ronaldmcreagan: Some games will see framerate improvements. And games that struggled to keep a stable 30 will likely see improved framerates. (Likely because there could be optimization problems like we saw with the PS4 Pro and as we seem to be seeing with Titanfall.) But they can't just flip a unlock the framerates on games by making the machine more powerful.
While console devs and players seem to be catching on to the fact that 60 FPS is like a bazillion times more important than 4K, PC remains the place to game if you care about framerates.
@Legend_of_Link: That seems really implausible. The single most important thing for load times is the hard drive, and that hasn't been significantly upgraded.
@lonesamurai1: Because some of us are willing to make that trade. Or because we like bigger screens and a TV sized monitor would be crazy expensive and the few who make them don't include the coolest features of a monitor.
@hammer_throw: Then you're "downsampling." There's actually some benefit to it: it's pretty much the best form of anti-aliasing availible. It has some downsides. In some games, it will decrease the gamma (not so bad, just adjust settings to compensate), in others it can shrink UI elements to unreadable levels. But if you have the horsepower for it, give it a shot.

@deactivated-59d995040c2ae: might have been patched. Idk, I just know I stood at the end of the hallway and walked back and forth as this dude unloaded at me and nothing. When I fired back... Alien food.
