I absolutely hate film grain, I don't know why developers use it. I would have bought BF:BC if it wasn't for the permanent film grain.
film grain is ugly, but it looks like it gives a boost for the fps. For example, in Mass effect pc I get avg 87 fps with film grain and 67 without
Mass Effect has the WORST examples of film grain and motion blur I've ever seen in a game.

Well, it's certainly the only game I've played where they stood out so much that they negatively affected the experience. Thank God BioWare included an option to turn them off. It made the game look SO much better.
Im guessing none of you guys played silent hill 3 on ps2, sometimess all you can see is grain and nothing else.. I guess that was the reason they were able to pull of some of the best char models i seen in a game till this day, and thats ps2...
