@Kristhomas123 Sorry that's incorrect. At the February 2013 unveil of PS4, Sony stated that the PlayStation Eye camera was to be included in every PS4 package. At E3, PlayStation Eye was no longer included, mainly in order to get the price point down to $399.
@JadeTempleKing ... and the console manufacturers won't even allow a game that gets an AO rating to be produced for their systems. All that's left would be PC games, where, as you point out correctly, no mass merchandiser would stock them for fear of being picketed, boycotted, etc.
Very little point in the redesign, much less this story to report on it. I think ESRB could have changed the symbol, not told anybody, and nobody would have noticed.
From someone who has actually done this ... you're expected to review the Xbox Code of Conduct to make an honest interpretation if the gamertag presented does meet the CoC or doesn't. Some were obviously clean, some were obviously not, and some were right on the border. Since just about everyone will get the same batch, and most likely (considering the requirements to enter the beta) everyone will think the same thing, I seriously doubt there will be many (if any) 50/50 splits. And again, Microsoft has final say, just as they already do.
One thing that was missing from the report. If you're not sure, you can skip the decision and move on to another.
@DeViLzzz Truth be told, I'm not seeing many XB1 flips on eBay yet, while I'm seeing tons of PS4s.
However, wondering if that may ultimately backfire. If PS4 becomes scarce, and people see the prices on eBay, how many consumers will go ahead and buy an XB1 because they can actually find one and it's still cheaper than the apparent market price for the PS4?
@SgTFuzzy-18 Never said it was a fact. In fact, I clearly stated that's what I remember and that I might have had it wrong. And this wouldn't be the first time that console makers have listed the MSRP of their console below their actual production costs, although they have gotten better at it of late.
My point is that it's plausible, not factual or definitive, because of loss leader pricing and because of console makers taking a loss on each console before it even leaves their factories.
@SgTFuzzy-18 Not questioning your input, but if you get a chance, Google/Bing "loss leader". Retailers do it all the time, pricing something at or below their cost, in order to get people in the door (or eyeballs on the site).
@b74kd3th That's what I've been afraid of with this latest run-up to a console release. How many of those pre-orders (for either system) are people flipping them and how many are actual consumers who intend to use the console themselves?
I remember buying a Wii bundle back in 2006. It came with a half-dozen titles (all of them at least respectable). Looks like the retailers are at it again.
If I remember correctly, the retailers make no money on the consoles (i.e., Sony charges $399 for each PS4 the retailers stock), so in order to make some money on the sale, they start pushing bundles, either with a required title or at least requiring the purchase of something else along with it.
Looking on eBay, I found one PS4 with actual bids at $750. Some hopeful entrepreneurs have their pre-orders priced at $4,000 and up.
