[QUOTE="tgschmidt"][QUOTE="Goldensun48"][QUOTE="snackdaddy"]I think its a tad expensive for the quality or lack there of. IMHOsnackdaddy

again i will tell you that i dont care about any other inputs besides vga, and i only care for 720p right now since it is the sweet spot this nex gen. and also name a lcd monitor 22' that is less expensive than that and is better quality, since you say that it is to expensive.

if you are going to argue with people, then why ask their opinion?

Thanks tgschmidt :)

But just to prove a point and I spent little to no time hunting for a "deal" - you can get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16824009102

It's an version of the Acer you were looking at, however, it has a fractionally better contrast ratio 800:1 versus 700:1 for $289.99 and free shipping...I just saved you $40.00.

Next time don't ask and argue, if you would like clarification say so tactfully.

2 posts too slow you unoriginal bastard! :) [That's a joke in case anyone was wondering. I say this because the ridiculous mods often miss sarcasm.]

i dont care about the size or the lack of 1080p, hdmi, or component. i like vga better than component anyway. i just think that it will be a great tv, good response time, good contrast rate, good enought brightness, and i like it that the resoulution is just a bit higher than 720p, good for me. what do you guys think? and again i dont care about the size its just for my room!:)

I have this monitor. It's a beast, definitely a great buy. I'd recommend buying it at NewEgg.com though: Product Link (opens in new window). The one I linked to is slightly updated with a higher contrast ratio and a better stand. Although for $300 shipped you can have this 26" HDTV. Or for $344 you can have this 30" HDTV w/HDMI in. I hope this helps.

WOAH

NO danggit the 30' doesnt have 720p, or 1080p either, wait whats the point of hdmi if theres no 1080p lol

Both of those TVs are 1080i. The human eye is very literally not capable of distinguishing the difference between 1080i and 1080p unless the picture is above 52". I have a 32" Samsung HD CRT (like the ones in the link) that displays in 1080i. Trust me dude, it looks as good as anything you'll see in 720p, if not better. HDMI has advantages other than accepting 1080p.

Why in the world did 1up.com give Oblivion PS3 a 7.8? It got a 9.1 on X360. Why is the 360 version so much better. Seriously, I want to know. I thought the PS3 version was better. I was going to buy the PS3 version... Blah, I don't know. I think 1up.com might be a little deedeedee.

1up didn't even review it yet. How many times do you have to be told NOT to listen to the voices in your head. And dammit, take your medication before logging on to the forums!

Well, I can't speak to the feasibility of the Army using an actual 360 controller for a drone or a robot in a combat situation since I've never served (which is probably in the best interests of everyone involved.) I can however, as a graphic artist, say that those images do not appear to be Photoshopped. If they are its some of the best superimposing I have ever seen and someone spent a LOT of time on them. Technically speaking it would be simple to adapt a wired 360 controller (or really any USB controller) to control any kind of robotic device. The software commands just need to be mapped to the controls and it has a USB interface so the connectors are readily available and inexpensive.

Good to see that some parents actually pay attention. Playing Gears isn't worth lying to your Mom, trust me. You'll be able to do a lot more when you're 15, 16, 17 if your Mom actually trusts you.

I've never seen a game that has such a drastic difference between SD and HD. I was over my buddy's place and he was playing Crackdown on a 32" SD Samsung. It looked OK, but really more like an Xbox game. The graphics looked a little blotchy but still not terrible. Then I got home, downloaded and played it. What an enormous difference. It's still not the most graphically stunning game (obligatory Gears reference) but it is WAAAAY better in HD. In terms of gameplay I thought it was good, but not great. Those calling it a GTA clone simply didn't spend any time with it or haven't played it at all. You can't play the demo all the way through and then intelligently say that. I thought the shooting mechanic was serviceable, but the driving was unnecessarily hard to control although with a few level-ups I'm sure it'd be better. This is just a demo so maybe that will be tweaked for release. Otherwise moving around , jumping, etc. seemed easy enough. I think the art style actually hurts the game, but that is admittedly a personal taste. I'm not a big fan of the comic book/graphic novel style in video games, especially in this case. The world is supposed to be dark and disturbing and dangerous but instead looks rather clean an not very intimidating at all. The draw distances are rather impressive and you can get quite a lot of action on the screen without any noticeable hit in frame rate. Based on the demo I'd say its a 7.5/10. It's fun and has its interesting aspects, but I see it getting old rather quickly. I'm sure the H3 beta offer will get this thing selling like crazy initially, but sadly I doubt it would sell half as well if it had to stand on its own.

I was going to get a PS3 and a new home office computer but instead I'm putting that $600 from the PS3 and the $800 from the PC towards an SLI gaming system that I'm building with twin 8600 GTs (Athlon X2 4600, 2Gb RAM, 400Gb HD, Audigy sound). So rather than a lemming/cow I'm becoming a lemming/hermit. Basically, I want to play Crysis on a DX10 machine.

Where do you work? I am 18 now and I am trying to get my room to have some kind of theme to it.. I doubt it will ever happen but anyways where do you guys work? I had a job getting $7.50 and hour but that was during winter break.

I am hopeing to be able to get a HDTV, I'm stuck with a Emerson tube, and a mom who could care less about HDTVs over $400. No I can't move out yet I have other factors in my life right now. Well it would be cool if you guys told me where your jobs are so I can try to apply and make some money on my own. I really like most of the set ups I've seen, I'd show you mines but you'd laugh.

I was making $12 an hour when I was 18 working in a hospital doing various jobs; patient transport for ER/XRay/OR/SPU, Central Supply Technician, and Security. The pay is good and the work really isn't that hard, plus the shifts options tend to be more flexible than in most lower paying jobs. I stayed with it through college from ages 17 to 21. That said, I'm 29 now with a real job so thats how I afford all this ridiculous crap.

Bungie will not be outdone by Epic. That's all I know.
