My Personal "Hot Seat" Blog

Greetings everyone, and God's blessing. It's been a while since my last blog entry, because I've been waiting to come up with something to post or some news to relay, so I thought I could fill in the gap by stealing an idea from my friend, dylan417. In the comments section for this blog, go ahead and ask me 2 questions and I will do my best to answer. The questions can be anything that you like. I will post the answers in a follow-up blog separate from this one.

For what little news that I have, I would like to say that I'm thoroughly enjoying my BTAS collection, even though I've been forced into using my PS3 to play the discs because of both my slim PS2 and my DVD player not being able to properlyread the discs for some odd reason. Despite the fact that they came in the set, sealed, they still had a few fingerprints and some minor scratches when I unboxed them. I didn't think it would cause a problem but apparently I was wrong. :( Even so, they're awesome.

I'm also picking up my old "Battlefield fever" again in the form of Battlefield 1943 and Bad Company 2. The former has recently started working properly again which is very nice, but the latter is still having major issues. For the last 3+ days in a row, my stats and weapon upgrades/specs have been wiped and reset to rank one. To be honest, EA and DICE have to be one of the worst combinations ever to collaborate in making games. Whenever they come together for a project, something goes wrong, despite the game itself being a great concept.

Lastly, the one item that I'm getting ready to purchase soon (hopefully) will be AC Brotherhood. I've heard some complaints about multiplayer matchmaking, glitching, etc., but it honestly isn't enough to make me turn away from the brilliant possibility of being a stealthy assassin online.

Well, I'll now leave you with what is, in my opinion, one of the best scenes from the movie "Tron: Legacy". The movie as a whole was pretty mediocre and over-the-top in terms of how cyber-punk it was, but it had some pretty cool moments, stunning visuals, and great audio. Also, the laugh at 3:41 is just priceless. :P

Thank you for reading, and don't forget to post your questions.

New Games for a New Year

Well I hope that everybody had a great Christmas this year, as I know I did. After opening gifts, which I happened to get more of than was really necessary, my brother and I went to stay with my grandparents who live about an hour and a half away, which was nice, though it kept me from enjoyingsaid gifts for a couple of days lol. We also attended their chruch service with them which was a treat because my parents don't happen to attend church services regurlarly (that is, not at all), and because my grandfather gave the sermon.

Anywho, what I'm sure people are at least slightlymore interested in would be my gifts that I received. So, here we go:

Tron: Evolution

So far it's very fun. I've played more of the multiplayer than the story, and it's a blast. The larger maps are better, because they feature lightcycles, light-tanks, and light-disc combat all at once and interchangable. The smaller maps are a bit lamer, featuring repetitive disc combat only, with a slight bit more of platforming. But regardless it's all fun, the graphics are great, and the gameplay is "so far, so good". My biggest complaint is that multiplayer is a bit unbalanced...higher-leveled players have access to ridiculously powerful combos and health, leaving you pretty much screwed if you have to take them on by yourself in disc combat.

Mirror's Edge

Haven't tried it yet because of Tron taking up my time tonight, but I'm looking forward to ME very much. I always wanted a game from a first-person perspective that wasn't focused on shooting, and as a PS3 owner, Mirror's Edge is about as good as it gets in my opinion. There also is Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, but eh...it's not for me.

Batman: The Animated Series Complete Collection

Oh yes, that's right...I got me my Batman. ;) All the way from Hong Kong as well, because my parents couldn't find a set as cheap here in the states, lol. I made sure that it's Region-1 though, and I'm looking forward to starting from the beginning and enjoying all 2,379 minutes.

My other gifts included $75 worth of Gamestop gift cards, a $50 PSN card, and aDark Knight poster (http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/111/f/AAAAAsswnp8AAAAAARH6QQ.jpg?v=1214095268000). Other stuff as well, but it's not relevant.

Before I wrap up the blog here, I want to let everybody know that my book, in first draft format, has been uploaded to Google Docs and onto the internet. If you wish to view it, simply head over to The Writers Lounge Union here at Gamespot, find the topic titled "Shadows of Bara (short fiction)", and scroll down in it until you see the easy-click links to each individual chapter. Each chapter is about 15 minutes in length, and there are numerous grammar, punctuation, and possibly spelling errors in all of them because the book is largely unedited. But for the most part it's an easy read and I'm proud to have written it and shared it with everyone.

I want to wish everybody a Happy New Year. inFamous 2, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Batman: Arkham City...man, PS3 owners have a lot to look forward to. Take care, and God bless you all.

Ho-Ho-Holy Christmas, Batman!

My best blog title ever, for certain. Christmas is about 20 days away now...the celebration of the birthday of our Lord and Savior, a touch of Saint Nicklaus, and of course the gift-giving. As always I have compiled a wishlist of my own in an attempt to sway my own presents received in a favorable direction (lol), if you know what I mean, so in this blog I'm going to run through a few of the items on there.

1 - TRON: Evolution

TRON: Evolution is a rather interesting game. Remember the movie Tron from back in the 80's? Maybe not, but for now, pretend that you do. Well, there is a sequel/remake of that movie releasing soon called Tron: Legacy, and TRON: Evolution is a prequel to that sequel/remake. Despite all the fancy terminology though, the game seems to be a fairly simple and also well designed example of platforming, combat, racing, and gorgeous visuals.

2 - Batman The Animated Series: Complete Collection

I wants me some Batman fer Christmas. Seriously...I'd love to get this. It's the entire collection of Batman: TAS from beginning to end, and since I never had the chance to watch all the episodes on TV (and don't like the sound of using a PC to watch them or taking my chances with library-owned copies of the DVDs), I really want this particular gift.

3 - Mirror's Edge

A very unique PS3 game, ME can really only be described as a first-person platformer, with some combat and shooter elements thrown into the mix. I've wanted the game fora decent while after playing and loving the demo multiple times (I've always been attracted to the idea of a first-person game that doesn't revolve around shooting), but, I've forever ended up changing my mind in favor of other games. So I figured it would make a nice Christmas gift.

Well that's pretty much it for the list. I of course want other things, but, it wouldn't be relative to the blog I suppose, lol. So in order to end this entry with a bit more content, I want to share some random news with everyone:

-I have my Platinum Trophy for NFS: Hot Pursuit

-The servers for Bad Company 2 are making the game nearly unplayable

-There are a lot of females playing Uncharted 2 co-op…seriously, a lot

-I'm getting closer to finalizing my book the way I want it

-If the BC2 servers aren't fixed I may pass on Vietnam DLC for a while

-I'm considering buying AC: Brotherhood and/or CoD: Black Ops

-A friend of mine made a gameplay video of Combat Arms (free online PC FPS)…check it out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn6__PT5-BU

Thanks for reading everybody, God bless, and please comment. :)

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

Please ignore the decidedly southern title, lol. Thanksgiving is upon us and I will be heading out with my family tomorrow (grandparents included :) ) to go eat and visit. I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving, and I hope that everybody takes the time to really soak in the meaning of the holiday this year.

Now, on to gaming...I've pretty much been utterly consumed with NFS Hot Pursuit, and it's safe to say that I've been addicted to it since I got my hands on it. Not that I didn't see it coming, having waited 4+ years for such a game, but I just want to emphasize how awesome it is. I'm very close to a Platinum trophy now, having acquired everying but full ranks as cop and racer (and I'm not far off from either)as well as the trophies for playing 10 online "Interceptor" events as a cop and as a racer individually. When I do nab the Platinum trophy, it will be only my second, as I currently have only one which was for Batman: Arkham Asylum.

If anybody is interested, I also wrote my official review for Hot Pursuit, which can be viewed here: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/needforspeedhotpursuit/player_review.html?id=745567&tag=player-reviews%3Bcontinue%3B6

Apparently people found it helpful, because so far it has been recommended by 15/15 users, lol! I was also invited to "The Writers Lounge" union about 24 hours after posting the review ( :D ). But you want to knowthe ironic thing about it all? There's a decently big flaw in my review. I completely forgot about an entire game mode for the racers side of the career mode, which is called Gauntlet. But evidently, people still enjoyed the review, so it's all good. If you read it and happen to think it to be helpful or well-written, please give it a thumbs-up to give it higher credibility.

There's just a couple of snapshots I took whilst playing NFS:HP. The first is a result of a crash which I found quite funny, the second is a billboard I drove by somewhere in Seacrest County during free-roam, and the third is a lineup of satellites alongside a roadway out in the desert which I cruised through in Patrol Mode. Sorry about the poor quality, but the Snapshot feature isn't as pretty as the Dreamshot featurein the game.

So I think that's it for me everyone. Once again, have a great Thanksgiving! God bless and please comment.

MEGA BLOG - An ace, demo review, and 10,000 posts

Yes, I've done it, I cracked the 10,000 post mark here at Gamespot! It's been around 4.5 years since I joined this site, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Made a ton of friends, learned about several games from here, reviewed many games, joined unions, etc. I'd like to take a brief moment and thank a few of my better friends, because without their communication with me, I'd probably still be back around 5,000 posts, lol:

cornerback3 - I know him from the 007 Nightfire boards, and he's also on the CoD4 boards occasionally as far as I know. Constant, nonsensical chatter has boosted both of our post counts by at least a 1,000 I'd say. Wouldn't you, cornerback? :P

MudkipMaster30 - I know him from the Crash Team Racing boards, and he's also the leader of the Twisted Metal Union if I remember correctly. We generally keep each other up to date on our gaming schedules and we also discuss random topics from time to time. A really nice guy.

HP2 Board - This is a multi-inclusive one here. I'm including all of the users who used to visit the now-a-ghost-town forumsof Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. JBear427, Off_da_Border, Munky321, Renegade_Zero...I enjoyed talking to all of them for the insanely long while that we did. And by "talking", I mean discussing completely random topics that hardly ever related to NFS, playing hurt-&-heal games, and bickering. They were good times...

And finally, I want to thank all my other friends as well. You guys are all great and I enjoy talking and, if we do, playing together. But this blog isn't just about the 10,000 post mark. I also told everybody that I'd be posting a review of the just-released demo for NFS Hot Pursuit, and that's exactly what I'm about to do. I've played quite a decent bit of it, despite the fact that it's pretty short, and I've gotten a good feel for the game. So here goes:

NFS: HP Demo Review -

You'll start off by seeing a pretty cool trailer that was previously released before the demo came out, but it also helps to tell you what to expect. You'll be taken to the main menu next, which has all the options you want and very little extras. It's nicely organized and easy to navigate, though all the in-game text is a tad small and hard to see, especially if you don't have an HD TV (and I don't). A few options are locked, such as the photo section and the NFS Store and online races (yes, it's true, the demo is all offline). I want to note though, that based on the options screen, it appears as if custom sountracks will be included in the full game, and that's great news because the soundtrack included by Criterion isn't too wonderful. Controls are also customizable (yay).

Click the career option and you'll get a brief explanation by a narrator regarding Seacrest County and its police force, and then you're taken to a map of SC itself, where you will see two events available...one for a cop, and one for a racer. The cop event, "Dark Horse", has you attempting to shut down a street race before the racers can reach the finish line. You have access to spike strips and roadblocks to help you,but choppers and EMPs are not available. You can choose between a standard Crown Vic or a Nissan 370Z (if I recall correctly) as your vehicle, and I generally found myself preferring the Vic because the handling is a bit looser. Either car you choose, you can listen to a nice rundown of all its technical features before you officiallyselect it, just like inthe classic NFS games.

Gameplay itself as a cop is pretty much what you'd expect, and it's great fun. You've got to hit the racers in order to damage their car enough to bring them to a halt (which often occurs in spectacular, car-flipping fashion), or blow their tires with your spike strips, or box them in for a set amount of time before they're busted...but the latter option rarely happens, and only happened to me because I boxed aracer in after he hit a roadblock. You've got nitrous boost to help you as well, and it comes in very short bursts. It's helpful for right before you make contact with a racer, to add a bit of extra "oomph", or when you need to power through a drift. Spikes are dropped right behind your car, and almost instantly deploy, so if you find a racer right on your tail a simple press of the d-padcan bust him quickly. Thankfully this doesn't occur that frequently, and the AI is smart enough to see when you're trying to set up a spike attempt. Roadblocks can be called in and they deploy only a short way up the road, and it's quite hard actually to find a way around them, because they stretch almost across the entire length of the road itself. It's best just to follow behind a racer when approaching one; if he makes it through, so will you, and if he crashes, you'll be right there to finish him off with a smash to the rear-end of his vehicle. It's interesting to note that you can turn your headlights on and off, and change the sound of your sirens as well.

The second event is "Roadsters Reborn", and it's a racers event. No cops, just racers. The funny thing about this event is that it remains locked until somebody on your friends list downloads and plays the demo...I suppose that's EA and Criterion's way of forcing people who might not normally play the demo to give it a shot. Once the race is unlocked though, you'll find a selection of either a Boxter Spyder, 370Z, or BMW Z4, all of which are convertibles. Just like the cop cars, you'll get a description of these as well when you select them. My favorite was the Boxter, because it seemed to have a slight speed advantage in the event and the handling was comparatively good. Unlike the cop cars, you can select from about seven choices of paint color for your car, but that's as far as customization goes (so be quiet, Underground tuner-fans).

Playing as a racer feels almost the same as playing as a cop, though your nitrous boostis quite improved and can last for a longer duration than that of the police. It's not hard to get a handle of the control of the cars just as with the cops, and I won the race the first time I played it, and the other times after that too. The track is really nice, mixing some forested regions with a coastline feel. Think National Forest from Hot Pursuit 2, if you've played that game, or Calypso Coast. There are also some shortcuts to be found, as with Dark Horse, but there seem to be more in this track. Unlike during the hot pursuits, where some really cool instrumental music plays, the game's licensed soundtrack will play during the races. The demo appears to include two songs...one by 30 Seconds to Mars (I believe it played at the end of the first trailer released for the game)and some other song that I'm not familiar with. They're okay and fit the racing action nicely, but I really doubt the game's other songs will keep up that feat. If you can get a custom soundtrack in the full game, you'll probably want to. May I recommend the soundtrack from NFS3? It would be epic to hear those tunes in this game, I must say.

You'll also get to mess around a slight bit with Autolog in the demo, in the form of posting "speedwall" updates to your friends about your preformances on the events. It's pretty cool and I can see myself taking advantage of it in the full game.

In summary, the demo is very good, though a little short. It has good replay value however, because you can play the events over and over again to test out the controls and the cars and such. The demo took 3 hours to download for me, and some others have complained about the download time as well, but don't let that deter you from trying it out. If you like arcade racing, the Burnout series, or classic NFS games, you will enjoy this demo and probably the full game.

End of Demo Review

Whew...that was long, lol. Anyway, to wrap up this blog, I'll explain about the "ace" part in the title. Not too long ago I went to play golf with my dad and brother down at a little 9-hole course (Terrace Hill Golf Course)that isn't far from where we live. We've played that course alot over the years, ever since I started playing golf when I was about 10, and my best was 31 (par for the course is 30). Coming down to the last hole, I thought that I had 29, and I jokingly made the comment "I can still make par with a hole-in-one!". So I hit my tee shot (which was a pitching wedge because it was only around 100 yards), and watched as the ball flew right for the flag. It took one hop on the green before I heard a "plunk" and lost sight of the ball. Sure enough, it went in the hole. My first ace! It was pretty exciting, but as it turned out, I had miscalculated and in reality did not end up with a 30, but rather another 31. :( Still...it's a hole-in-one, lol.

I hope you've enjoyed the blog. Here's to another 10,000 posts, eh? Lol...actually, if I ever end up with 20,000, I think it would be wise for me to start reconsidering how much time I spend on this site. Still, I enjoyed the first 10K, and I enjoyed having everyone on my friends list along for the ride. Take care, God bless, and please comment. :)

Wait, there's more (preview blog)!

Hello there everyone. I realize that it's been far too long since my last blog, but I want to assure you all that I'm not done with these things. No, rather, I've been waiting until a few different events...fall into place. Unfortunately...*monocle smile*...I can't tell you what they are yet. But I simply need them to occur before I can write the next blog, lol. If that confuses you at all I apologize.

As for now, there isn't a whole lot to say. I've finished my book that I had been writing, and now it just requires editing, which I am extremely reluctant to do. You try writing a 130 page book and then diving back in at the very beginning to edit it and realize just how bad you are at writing when you do so, lol. Several members of my family are planning to read it in its unedited state, so that should be helpful for me because I can gather their input before I begin my work on the novel once more. I haven't come to a conclusion yet as to whether or not I'll try posting it online somewhere.

The demo for NFS: Hot Pursuit releases on October 26, and yes, I know I've mentioned it before...lol. Ishall include a demo-review of it in my next blog, so if you for some reason are hesitant to download the free demo (???) or just want my opinion, you can check it out. I'm also planning on reviewing the full game when it releases, in a review here at Gamespot.

At least for the moment, I've decided to wait on picking up Mirror's Edge. I played through the demo a few more times and watched more gameplay, and the more I see, the less I become excited, honestly. The combat appears like it would get old after a while, as would the art design, and the free running doesn't interest me enough to adda lot ofreplay value on top of that. If Gamestop ever has a deal on pre-owned titles again or something noteworthy, I'll check it out once more. But for now, my attention will be on NFS: Hot Pursuit and my other games such as Bad Company 2 and MAG.

Finally, I thought it would be good fun to post a few random screenshots from some classic games that I enjoy, and I want you to guess which games they are from. Depending on your knowledge of the game itself and of my games collection, these could be either easy or impossible, lol:

Well...good luck! Post your guesses or answers in the comments section of the blog. If you need a hint, I'll provide one. ;) Thanks for reading, please comment, and God bless!

Random Vids & an Upcoming Milestone

*swoops in*

Well well, time for another blog. This time I'll be listing out a few of my favorite videos that I've enjoyed recently, providing a few pics of the games I'm looking forward to getting, and a few other bits of nonsense. Now, I'm aware that a few people on my friends list have told me that they have trouble watching videos on their PCs, so if any of you lot are reading this, feel free to skip the videos (but perhaps you could at least try to watch them when you can...:P ). Before I get started though, I want to mention that my family and I have gotten settled into our new (old) house now, and pretty much everything is in order...aside from the brooding piles of furniture still stacked in the garage, but we're trying to ignore those for now. I managed to stay connected to Gamespot during most of the move though, so as some of you know, I was able to stick around my favorite forums. ;)

First off, I'll start with a video of one of my favorite in-game themes out of any video game that I've ever played. It's called Snow Bags, and it plays on the track "Rocky Pass" in Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhTe7NPx0p8

Different parts of the music play during specific parts of the track, and it's very cool to race to the tune as it changes to fit how you're driving. The next video is yet another from NFS3, this time the theme for the track "Atlantica", and it's called Rear Flutterblast #19 (no jokes please):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsfzDAfvJoo&feature=related

Same deal with that theme as well; it changes depending on the part of the track you're racing on. Well, now I'll provide a few pics for you before I continue with the vids. The first couple are of the next Need for Speed game being released on November 16, and I'm really psyched for it. Finally the NFS series is back to its roots, baby!

You can play the demo of NFS: Hot Pursuit when it is released on October 26. Now, back to the vids...I shall continue with the new trailer for the next installment in the Harry Potter film franchise, "Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, Part 1":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzfEH0UPEBo

Looks great to me, and I look forward to seeing it. I may actually drag myself into a theatre, which I really, really don't like to do, lol. Hopefully it's better than the 6th movie, which I didn't care for as much as the 4th or 5th. And yes, in case you're wondering, I've read all the books.

Another pic now, and this is of Batman: Arkham City. Still set to release in Autumn 2011 though, but I'm really anxious for this one. Batman: Arkham Asylum was amazing, and this sequel looks even better.

Next up for the vids now, we have a music video. Now, please, don't get me wrong...I generally don't like music with lyrics. At all. I'm much more a fan of instrumental music and soundtracks and such (hence Snow Bags and Flutterblast), but this video really took me by surprise, especially because it's by Selena Gomez, an actress on Disney Channel. Usually Disney actors/actresses and their respective songs serve no purpose other than to irritate me and entertain pre-teen girls, but for some reason I quite enjoyed this video. It's obvious that her voice has been edited and it's pretty clear that she has to be lip-synching in the video, but really, how many actresses actually sing in their music videos now? Really? The song is called "A Year Without Rain". Oh, and a little thought here...is it just me, or is the last minute of the video a bit..."PG"?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8uPvX2te0I

Also...almost 9,000,000 views on that video?! What the heck? I blame the last minute of it. :P

Well, that about does it. But...oh yes, that's right! I mentioned something about a milestone, didn't I? As it turns out, I'm currently at post 9,700, so I'm only 300 away from the big 10K. I've been looking forward to that for quite some time, and it's not far off now. As always, thanks for reading and God bless. And if you don't comment, Batman would like a word with you...

Gamespot Questionnare

Hello there everybody. I found some time on the PC just now because we're pretty much done with all the packing today. It was less work than I figured it would be, but then again, all the "heavy lifting" will begin tomorrow. Yay. Anyway, I just finished reading the blog of a friend (yes you, Mudkip), and saw that he posted a very interesting questionnare concerning Gamespot, which he copied from another user's post (Cloud765). After finishing it, I decided to make my own version of it, mostly because I have nothing better to do at the moment. :P So here it is:

1. What was the first union you joined?

I believe that was the Christian Gamers Union, which isn't very active at all right now. I didn't join any unions until very recently though.

2. Were you originally a union poster, a blog commentor, or a main forum poster and has that changed now?

I originally was a poster in various forums of several games, such as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007 for the PS2, and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 for the PS2 (a forum which I still visit). That has changed a decent bit now, as I also write blogs, make comments, do occassional reviews, and visit unions.

3. Who was your first friend on Gamespot and are they still active?

Uh...well, that's a good question. My first friend that I made was on TV.com, which is a sister-site to Gamespot if I'm not mistaken, so my friends list from there carried over to GSpot. His username was Ross_99, and I don't think he's been active for a very long time now on either site. In terms of strictly GSpot...I have hardly a clue, lol.

5. What is your favorite level/rank and did/have you achieved it yet?

I actually quite like my rank now, Karnov. But I don't know about the titles of future ranks, and I make it a point not to find out, purely because I like being surprised at the new title when I reach a new rank. I'm quite looking forward to rank 50 though, for the prestige.

6. Did you ever want to become a mod, have you been one, and do you still want to be one?

You know, there have been a lot of times when I wished that I was a mod, but I've never really wanted to take on the responsibity, lol. It would turn Gamespot into a chore, and that's something I always tried to avoid, whether it be by not posting out of a sense of obligation or by any other means.

7. Are there any stats on Gamespot you generally find interesting, and if so, which ones?

Hmm...I always liked keeping track of all the games in my collection and checking their estimated value, and recently I just noticed my all-time post count, which is about 9500 or so. Almost to 10,000!

8. Has the way you act changed since you joined the site?

Heck yes, actually. I've become more adept at witty comebacks and I now find humor in many things that I previously may not have found to be funny at all. So...thanks a lot, GS. :P I also learned how to better vebally defend myself, which is unfortunately necessary on some forums.

9. What were you most interested in when you joined, and what are you currently interested in now?

I was mostly interested in the forum-talk as well as hearing other peoples' opinions on the same game that I was playing. Now I'm interested in a ton of things, such as the official reviews, my friends' activity, union chatter, etc.

10. What originally made you join Gamespot?

I initially joined to check out the forums for several games.

11. Are there any users you miss?

Yes, one in particular, by the username of yellowshinygold...she was banned. I met her on the Crash Team Racing forums and we ended up exchanging a ton of PMs back and forth, and one day she just vanished. I haven't heard from her since, but I await her coming back, which I assume she will do some day unless something happened to her that I'm not aware of. :?

12. Is there any user you'd want to spend a day with in real life?

Wow, so many. MudkipMaster30, SupClayton, yellowshinygold, cornerback3, personeyperson, WtFDragon, Munky321, Off_da_Border, JBear427...the list goes on and on. Odds are that if you're on my friends list, I'd want to spend a day with you. ;)

13. Have you been moderated, how many times and how severe were the consequences?

I've had random posts here and there get deleted for no explained reason, and I didn't even receive notification about it, so it wasn't anything major. The worst thing was when I was once moderated for "advertising" a petition concerning the NFSseries on a whole lot of different forums, lol. Once I posted about the petition in the forums for Test Drive Unlimited, I was moderated and received a 3-day ban from Gamespot if I recall correctly.

14. Are/have you been a paying subscriber?

No, and I have no interest in ever becoming one in the future. Not enough benefits, really.

15. If Gamespot was a food what would it taste like?

Lol...well, I think it would be rather like a pizza. It's great most of the time and it's kind of like a comfort food, but if you eat it too often or too much at one time, you'll get sick.

That's all then. Hope you enjoyed it, and I recommend passing it on and doing it yourself. Please comment, and God bless. :)

General Update

Hey there everyone, I figured it's about time for an update. The move my family and I will be making should start on the 15th and continue through the 18th before we get all the furniture situated in our new (old) house, and it may take a day or so to get the internet and gaming consoles hooked up and ready to go. But anyway, I've mentioned this all before. Now time for that general update as indicated...

In terms of gaming, I've been playing quite a bit of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, both in squads with a few friends from my PSN list as well as solo. I used to get quite annoyed when I played BC2 in the past, so much so that I considered selling the game, but I stuck with it like I always try to do with my games, and eventually I gained the experience and weaponry needed to have some fun on the battlefield; as was the case with Modern Warfare 2. It's quite important, I realized, to stay away from the general area of combat in BC2 as much as possible. This is the opposite for me in Battlefield 1943, in which I tend to fling myself wherever the biggest brawl is taking place and proceed to kick as much butt as possible before being killed or forced to retreat. But in BC2, stealth is my friend, and I'm quite adept at knifing now. My dogtag collection is rather large. :D

I've also been playing a lot of the classic Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit on my Slim PS2 that I have set up in my room. Amazing how the game can still present a challenge and be so much fun even though it was released about 12 years ago. The AI is relentless and always seems to be different, never following a pattern, and the cars and tracks and general "feel" of the racing is absolutely incredible. Mix that with some of the best in-game music I've ever heard in any game, and NFS3 certainly still deserves that 10/10 score I gave it long ago. Here's hoping that the new Hot Pursuit being developed by Criterion can live up to its name when it is released November 16. If it's as good as I hope, my gaming schedule will be all tied up for quite a while...until Batman: Arkham City, at least. Lastly, I've been considering picking up Mirror's Edge from Gamespot, just because I've always wanted to give that game a shot. The demo was fun, and I really enjoyed the combat, so next time I'm around my local Gamestop I may grab it.

In other, unrelated-to-gaming news, I'm almost finished with my first course of high school algebra and will be moving on to the second shortly (I'm homeschooled, so I'm not following any standard system). Considering how much I absolutely loved this course of algebra (sarcasm), the next should be even more wonderful (bigger sarcasm). But...I don't want to linger on the subject of school. I'm actually also nearly done with a book that I've been writing for some time now, and then I'll move on to editing it until it's just right. The idea for the book started with a few simple scenes that I thought up one day for no particular reason, and I found myself thinking "Hmm, that would make a good story." I forgot about it of course, until later, when my mind conjured up more scenes with the same characters yet again. It was then that I decided "To heck with it, I'll just write a book about this!"...quite random, eh? Anyway, I shortly found myself improvising an entire story just to fit around several scenes, and now that I'm one final chapter (and epilogue) away from the end of the book, I realized that the story itself isn't half-bad. Still not something I'd want to pay any money to buy (lol), but not bad. If I ever get really desperate, maybe I'll post the entire story in blogs here at Gamespot by breaking it into chunks...but it would still be really large, considering that it took about 130 pages in Microsoft Word to write, without filler or editing yet done to it.

Finally, for any who read this and share my belief in God, I'd like to make a prayer-request for my mother. She's had problems with her back for years, but recently it's gotten worse. To the point where she can't stand still, sit, bend, or walk for anything over about 10 minutes at a time. She thinks that she knows the problems that cause it now after spending a lot of time doing research on it and seeing several doctors, therapists, chiropractors, etc., but she's still having trouble finding a treatment that can solve the problem. So, any prayers would be greatly appreciated. :)

Well, that's about it. I apologize for this blog being rather langthy, but eh, I haven't done a long one in a while...lol. Thanks for reading, please comment, and God bless. I leave you with this final, closing statement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4qgTk8Vfyc

Will be moving soon...

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say that I was informed by my parents just a while ago that in about 3 weeks or so, we'll be moving. So my activity here at Gamespot may be somewhat stalled for a decent while, for the duration of the move and the time that it will take to setup the PC over at our house once we get settled in. We're actually moving back into the house that we had previously lived in before we moved to the house that we're currently in now...it's a long story. :P

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know the reason for my future absence. Also, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, I ask that everyone who knows of any topics of mine please keep them alive until I return, lol.

EDIT: Seems as if we'll be moving from the 15th to the 18th of September, and it will probably take a day or two to get all the electronics hooked up after that.
