The zanpaktou aren't originaly in the sword, as shown by Diamond Dust Rebellion where both Hitsugaya taichou and his freind met Hyourinmaru. So if ther're outside the blades, that would mean they have lost their connection to the Shinagami owner. Maybe it's possible to transfer your zanpaktou to someone else, not unlike a will

SAT is the Standerdised American Test, and I assumed you lived in USA so I thought you would be doing the SATs. I'm doing IB in Australia, it's a nightmare sometimes
we dont do any kinds of tests like here :| ..but i know that when i'm done .. its medical school or the circus :P
I've been thinking. Did Ichigo really take that much from Rukia? Because he was able to percieve souls clearly from the start, and his power is a lot greater in brute terms than Rukia's at her height. Remembering also that Ichigo's father was a Shinigami... Wait, does that also mean Ichigo's father is always in a gigai?

I think he meant how would the zanpaktou use it, since Renji's is a living(?) being, while Soi fon's is a weapon. So the Zanpaktou spirit wouldn't be able to change to bankai effectively. Then again, the spirit might just you the bankai
Did they mention Harribel's(?) and Stark's numbers in the anime already? I thought that was something they mentioned a bit later.
It's a bit suprising how fast the dubs of Bleach are, only... 80 episodes off! Man, that was longer ago than I expected. Then again, I fell behind at one point and followed up by this marathon-style watching
