I'm seriously tired of people insisting that their favourite band is "The Best Band Ever!"

"if you don't like them, then don't watch them". Well, you see, I'm trying to explain to you all why I don't watch them.

You've all seen it. The "cute" girl in her teens doing covers with an acoustic guitar. They always get way more views than they deserve partially because the majority of views come from lonely men with nothing else to do with their free time. Most of them have just average talent and their covers consist of two-chord renditions of non-acoustic songs with half the original tempo. The finals result sounds like the original song on Valium since any type of interesting music or energy is just sucked right out of it. Sure, they might have good voices, but it takes so much more than just that to make good music. Occasionally they might write their own music, but it usually consists of more boring songs about cliched subjects with stupid lyrics. And the comments on those videos are so cheesy, they would make a lactose intolerant man defecate internal organs. Always full of comments like "marry me" or "omg ur so talented and pretty" and "better than the original" and generic inspirational quotes.

[QUOTE="Lonelynight"]I can't think of any other reasons as to why someone could still be a monoliguists in this day and age, and not at least be bilingual, except that they are either dumb or lazy. So naturally I look down on them.chrisrooR

I'm a monolingust, and it's not really my fault. I grew up in America in an area where almost everyone speaks only English. The American public education system is not very good at teaching other languages. For example, in Sweden, they may start teaching English to students as young as 8 or 9 years old because young children's brains are more open to learning new languages. In my school, in America, they didn't start teaching second languages until I was about 12. Also, native English speaking Americans almost exclusively get all their entertainment and media in English, while in non-English speaking nations, they may not be able to, so they have to have their entertainment in English with subtitles. I've taken Spanish from grade 7 to grade 12, and I still would have trouble in an actual Spanish conversation. I think I started learning way too late which makes it extremely difficult to adapt to the differences in grammar and easily apply the grammar principles in conversation.

[QUOTE="YoshiYogurt"][QUOTE="Nick3306"] Never heard of this band. You clearly can't be talking about Dream Theater since even if you dont like their music, they are still one of the most talented bands out there.

My vote goes to ac/dc

Amen! My favorite band. Please find me something better, because I cannot.

Even though they are also my favorite band, when i try to throw that aside i still see a world renown guitarist (currently playing the G3 tour with joe satriani and steve morse) A highly regarded keyboardist who is also a classical pianist. A bassist that is within the top 10 in the world and a drummer who is technically great. Labrie on vocals may be the weak point but they grow on you.

Okay, I'm not denying the fact that the members are individually talented. I personally believe that when you put them together, it sounds pretty over-dramatic and cheesy. That's just my opinion.

Just because you like them, doesn't mean that they can't be overrated.

I mean, as ignorant as Americans tend to be, America has a way more diverse and exciting landscape than the UK does. So I'm gonna go with the US.
