You are perfectly right, buying a reserve PS2 console is what I'm going to do for sure. And it probably will be my last SONY product purchase, unless the company shows some respect to the Playstation owners, (which I doubt). Maybe in the future, at the time of PS4, after they have secured profits from the PS3 titles, they will offer for free PS2 BC with the standard PS4 console. Of course, there will be available, only for the first year though, a very expensive PS4 version of 14 Terra Bytes hard disk drive that will support PS3 BC!

I'm interested in buying a PS3 console, but the fact that the 40 GB model doesn't support backwards compatibility for PS2 games makes me very sceptical. I have in my collection some brilliant PS2 games, and I would love to play them in an -all in one- console, and not switching cables and controllers between PS2 and PS3. Does anyone know if Sony plans to offer a model that supports BC in Europe, or enhance in the future the 40 GB model with the BC?
