I hate to be argumentative for the sake of it but... that is proof in the empirical sense. The "worldly" or "material" view. Not the philosophical or metaphysical view.
There are things unexplainable by science. Such as gravity. We know that gravity exists but we cannot explain it. Also there is the problem of whether or not it truly "exists." If there is a single mass with no other mass around it to cast a gravitational field upon, does the force of gravity actually exist?
'Touche. Good analogy. Philosophy was never really my bag, I've tried many times but can't grasp most of the concept.
