Given a bit I think I could change your mind...
The ladies can't resist my gumdrop buttons.
Alot of people that whine and complain about Vista and Dx10 have never used it and don't know what they are talking about. Vista is the future so you can embrace it or not...but it will one day be the norm, OS's are hated most of the time when they are new because people hate/fear change.A1B2C3CALVista is one more step on the way to Microsoft losing their dominance..according to one survey approximately half of the IT departments they polled are considering moving to a different a different OS, 9% of them are already doing so and another 25% are planning to do so in the next year..thats not encouraging for Microsoft. Apple gets 28% in the survey..guess where most of the rest goes to?
Ill take any advice, explain reasoning I need to learn about the current hardware situation anyway.neon_black
Well the thing is that AMD is maintaining compatability throughout AM2, AM2+, and AM3 CPUs. Intel while they've been on LGA 775 for probably the past five or six years don't maintain forward compatability between different CPU generations too well.
So AMD has just launched their Phenoms (AM2+), which are slower than Core 2 Quads clock for clock, but they may end up being equal valuewise to the Core 2 Quads. They will work on AM2 motherboards, but they will have a slight performance hit and when the AM3 CPUs come around they probably won't be compatable with AM2 motherboards.
If you were to get an AM2+ motherboard, which right now are mostly the high-end enthusiast kind then you'll be able to use CPUs that use Socket AM2, AM2+ and later down the road AM3 so you'll have lots of options.
Also the Spider platform that AMD is pushing is supposed to be a lot less expensive than the Intel/Nvidia alternative, but you'll still need to buy a new motherboard and CPU, so it won't be cheap.
i admit vista has its problems but who cares i got the os for free and if theres service pack to fix it up then its win win

If you bought a PC it wasn't free, it was calculated into the cost, if you got it some other way for free you probably shouldn't be talking about that here..
