Most of the characters on this list barely fullfill the qualifications of a decent supporting cast. I barely want to look at them while playing a game in the series they come from. So why give them solo titles to screw up while giving Sega a new way to profiteer off of the more annoying half of the fanbase?

The levels in the Wii version are unlocked automatically as the story progresses. In the PS3/360 version, you must pick up x amount of sun and moon coins to unlock each new level. This becomes very tedious. For example, you unlocked the Chun-Nan area and went to enter the daytime stage as that was the next objective to move along the story. You stand on the launch pad and it says "sorry, you don't have enough sun medals to open this gate. You need 14 more." -___- So then you had to go search through every hub world and action stage during the day and night to gather up enough of the coins that you had missed just to play the next stage. This method of unlocking levels was a bad idea. Again it detracts from the experience. Running around looking for medals is not very fun.

Anyone want to argue this point. Sonic is not about running around hunting for crap. He's about running fast through levels and smashing robots. In the Wii version the additional medals were only to unlock the bonus rooms in the temple.

This is why the Wii/PS2 versions got higher scores.

I'm not arguing that the game was poorly designed, I just appreciate the fact that the daytime stages on the Hedgehog engine created a new experience that couldn't be emulated by replaying the better segments of the Adventure games. The Wii/PS2 version just felt like a rehash of what I was playing nearly 10 years prior.

I also feel the need to stress the fact that I still don't like the game itself. Sonic Unleashed is, in my opinion, a mediocre screw up no matter what console you play it on. I just think that the 360 version was the lesser of 2 evils.

At least the Wii/PS2 didn't make you waste time wandering around a city giving out hotdogs.kbaily

Side quests were optional.

360 version. Sonic Unleashed is mediocre no matter what version you play but the 360 at least offered an experience that I couldn't recreate by replaying the better segments of the Adventure games for the Dreamcast. It may have slowed down more frequently but when it was fast, it wasn't just fun but damn near perfect on some stages; The fall was greater but it upped the ante. The Wii/PS2 version was just consistantly mediocre with worse Werehog controls (not good considering it takes up little over 60% of the game).

NO. Theres already Super Smash for this.

Apart, I doubt someone will care much of adding new SEGA characters that aren't from Sonic.

Tell me, did you know about Aiai, Amigo or Nights before Riders? I doubt it.

So, I think this won't happen ever

That is kind of a sad truth that Sega die hard hate to admit. Sure not everyone knows who Ness or Ike are in the Nintendo universe but Mario is one of the most recognizable characters in the world and most people can recognize Link, Donkey Kong, Kirby and especially Pikachu. I remember watcing a trailer for Sega Superstar Tennis and while everyone recognized Sonic and Dr. Eggman veryone else had no idea who the other characters in it Sega would be better to include more Genesis characters like Tojam and Earl or Virtua Fighter characters because those games actually sold well to where they're somewhat recognizable.

I did know who Nights was before Riders because I remembered the Saturn commercials and thought she (yes she's a girl, play the Wii game) was cool.

Nights is technically genderless but is always refered to within the story dialogue as 'he', which made the 'british schoolgirl' voice in Journey of Dreams that much weirder.

There was a time when somebody on this board pitched the idea of a Halo crossover with the franchise. I think that idea finally has an official rival for most absurd fan pitch that Sega would probably be stupid enough to follow through on.

Ok has the overrated fad honestly come to the point where we have to rant against games we actually like. No, Sonic Adventure isn't perfect and no, it never was but if you like it so much why does that matter? If the game is fun on some level, who cares if it's overrated, just play it and live with it.

In short, he was a once cool character that was horridly mishandled. Sure he was dark but in a lot of ways he was a sort of parallel to Sonic himself. They were essentially the same character (Arrogant, Sarcastic, Determined, etc.) but where ones goal was just to keep the peace, the other wanted something obviously much more nefarious. He was a cool character with a graceful exit. Then they turned him into an brooding emo rebel and killed off any chance he had at mass popularity.

Mini-games, plain and simple. The Tornado flying sections of Unleashed were irritating (thank god you only had to do it twice), The multiplayer of Secret Rings was a dull tack-on, the water traveling sections are one of the faults that killed Rush Adventure for me and do I even need to bring up anything that involves Sonic on a board. They're buzz kills that bring fun to a halt almost entirely and need to be phased out.

Although Silver the Hedgehog is a very close second place.

I generally consider myself to be an open minded and forgiving person. I try to go into everything with an open mind and have frequently given things second and even third chances to win me over, sometimes completely regardless of my first impressions. The Sonic series has suckered 4 chances out of me with little to no improvement each time, so screw Needlemouse, I'm breaking the cycle right now.
