Sonic Adventure 2 by virtue of being 1 of the only 2 good 3D Sonic games.

The Sonic series' problem is that it is a high profile failure that has no reason to be.

Earth Worm Jim and Bomberman virtually disapeared after the 3D jump, Spyro and Crash were dropped by their creators and sent to talentless developers and Mega Man's creator left the series after Capcom demanded too much from him. Yet with all of their problems, the worst of these games are better than almost anything Sonic in recent history.

Sonic is like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen; it's a product that is just plain terrible, there's next to nothing redeemable about it, a textbook example of failure and yet you can see clearly in every shot and frame of the game that a lot of money went into it just for it to suck but still make its money back.

It's become a cash cow that doesn't care in the slightest about quality, only commerce, just like the other series. The only difference is that Sega doesn't even care enough to finish their games.

4Kids: turning good and bad shows alike into abominations for nearly 10 years. If you've ever seen a 4Kids show, chances are it's 50x better in its original language. So why would I trust them to properly dub a show that's already bad, again?

That kinda issue happens a lot with games, and it's very unfortunate. KotOR II would have been a phenominal sequel if Obsidian just had more time to develop it. Of course, Sonic games don't have the luxury of extremely hardcore fan-modders (Team Gizka) to rebuild all of the removed elements from the game. (I actually can't wait until the Telos Restoration Project is finished, just having a glimpse of what KotORII would have been like makes me excited).

Heh... "Ask not what your SEGA can fail for you, but what you can fail for your SEGA."

Your saying KOTOR 2 was bad? Bioware made the best Star Wars RPG ever, and I don't even like RPGs.

KotOR 2 was developed by Obsidian, not Bioware. They've been known to release great games that are clearly unfinished, i.e. KotOR 2. It had a lot of potential that was squandered by the slow, dragged out opening, the inability to use a lightsaber for half of the game, the anti-climactic ending, and of course, the rampant glitches. It's not a terrible game but it clearly needed more work.

Well let's be cautious at this point as Riders pointed out, it's only a teaser trailer.

I remember back in 2005 when we saw this....

Remember how we thought this was going to be an awesome game and the successor to Sonic Adventure 2 and instead we got a poorly, coded buggy mess of broken gameplay, tedious elements and a creepy inter species relationship that only furries and idiot fans could love.

Yeah, I also remember that long, long time ago in a magical year called 2008 when we thought that this little leak was going to be part of a game that was going to turn around the entire series' run of bad luck:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2atOJMpqDYk

This is the third time in a row Sega has tried to "relaunch" the series and both times have been failures. The only difference between the 2 is that 2006 delivered a disaster, with attempt number 2 only being better because it showed some sort of effort regardless of how half-assed it actually was. I'll leave the rest of you to get excited or be "pessimistic" but I'm breaking the Sonic cycle right here. Just throw me Rush 3 and Chronicles 2 and I'm done.

Have you all learned nothing over these last 5 or so years? It's Sega; you can't predict how they F--- up, you just have to sort of wait for it to happen. And yes, it always does.

A good game is a good game. If the series starts putting them out again, I'll be there, otherwise, I've given up on that hope almost a year ago.

I just want to know why everyone thinks it's acceptable for Banjo to totally abandon his core gameplay and everyone hails it as "innovative" and when Sonic does anything that doesn't involve him running at mach five, everyone throws a fit.

In short Banjo building and driving cars should suck an equal amount to Sonic as a werewolf or carrying swords. Banjo's about great run and jump platforming, not sitting through an Xcell spreadsheet trying to build something that will fail in a race over and over again. Just as Sonic should be about fun, high speed platforming, not swordfights and mindless button mashing brawling.

Nuts & Bolts was different but at least it was coherent enough to be subjective to opinion. I played it at a friends house and pretty much forgot about it after I left but I enjoyed it for what it was worth. Sonic's problem is that the games are disjointed. It's the equivalent of being Superman flying at the speed of sound into a kryptonite wall. Nuts & Bolts stayed consistently decent, when Sonic's fun dies, it stayed dead.

Luigirulze, you are saying sonic heroes is terrible, but you liked Nuts & Bolts? That marked the end of the bear and bird, adding vehicles was a terrible idea

Cloud_765

Subjective to opinion.

Just like nunchuck can have his opinion. ;)

I just wanted to end that train of thought before Kbaily posts her Rare Sucks Soapbox. Again.
