Yet the problem is,the more advanced those games are in technical graphics departments, the more expensive their development is,which in the end only leads to more microtransactions required for a good experience...
They have to return their development costs, and the easiest way to do so is by imposing many microtransactions to the player,by intentionally crippling him.F2P is a lie,in life, nothing is free...
I agree with Toysoldier,it's much more probable they will try focusing more on gameplay elements, without any graphical leaps,to keep the development costs and budgets under control. It's simply the most cost effective way.F2P is simply not the market that benefits from high-end technical graphics, and same goes for the MMO market. There, graphical engines aren't supposed to push the envelope, but to provide a playable experience for the widest number of gamers possible...
I agree, but there will always be someone pushing the envelope of technical graphics,so really no worries for me there.Crytek did their part very well in 2007,but now they're to be replaced by someone else...
Torrent downloads aren't the only form of piracy. What about all illegal physical discs sold for modded consoles around the world, most notably in "third-world countries"?
Since we don't have any numbers at all about that, there is simply no point in saying PC has the greatest piracy rate,it's impossible to prove.Maybe it has the most illegal torrent downloads, but as I said,it's not the only method of piracy...
I do agree that Planetside 2 and Tribes:Ascend are worthwhile F2P games(haven't looked into others you listed),but I still don't see what could Crytek offer to F2P market, since as I said, technically great graphics aren't what F2P market is all about, which happens to be Crytek's strongest point. That is why I think they're going downhill as a developer, going into the market they don't seem ready or capable of...
Also,I never slandered F2P market,I only said I PERSONALLY don't care much about it,which is just my opinion,I'm not trying to state it as fact.If you like it,that's great...
And yes,EA is very stupid with many of their bussiness decisions, since their greed gets in the way of reasonable thinking. The P2W stamp stays right here until they can prove me wrong on game's release. But I'm not getting my hopes up...
Not pushing intrusive DRMs and not making bad and unoptimized console ports are the only efficient ways of fighting piracy on the PC.
Give consumers a reason to buy your game, and you'll get good sales, and make profit.Make a barely working game without any effort, you know what you can expect...
Also,PC piracy is a heavily overexagerrated issue, mostly used by developers to defend themselves after they don't get good sales for a game that is filled with anti-consumer crap...
And is there a factual evidence that clearly says how PC piracy is more prevalent than console piracy?
Crytek is under EA,so all this means is a lot of Pay 2 Win games in the future.EA is well known for their DLC milkage...
What a shame, but I guess this makes Crytek dead to me,since I don't care about F2P market.Who would've thought they would go downhill this much back in 2007,when they released Crysis. Also, one of the biggest strenghts of Crytek as a developer are top of the line graphics, and they aren't needed in F2P games,so I really don't know what they can offer to that market.Dumb move,EA...
To get those conference emblems, you needed to watch the LIVE STREAM,not the later recordings.Since you obviously didn't do that, you sadly cannot unlock those emblems anymore...
