Definitely give the series a second chance. They're all vastly more accessible, engaging and enjoyable after the first game, plus you can't really go wrong with £10 or $15 for II and Brotherhood.

Clearly, those of you claiming MW3 to be the best, have never played the original Modern Warfare when it first released. That game evolved the series beyond more than any other Call of Duty.550 levels? Illustrated in COD4.Killcam? Implemented in COD4. Killstreaks? Invented in COD4. Perks? Invoked in COD4. You get the idea. Having played COD from 3 to 8, I can safely say the original Modern Warfare was the most fresh of all COD's since then. Anyone who says Modern Warfare 3 is better, ask yourself one simple question: What has Modern Warfare 3 done differently from Modern Warfare 2/Black Ops?

All games are really very fun but it's a toss up between BF3 and MW3. Killzone's a bit less fresh than the others but that's only from a personal perspective while Resistance lacks the tight, vibrant community of BF3 and MW3. So BF3 and MW3 get the nod from me and that's dependent whether you have friends or not respectively.

If you've only got $50-$100 then the inFamous series has the most value single-player wise + it's one of the cheaper series on your list. I'd also get Littlebigplanet 2 because you said you're looking for a co-op, split-screen game and LBP is the best of the bunch, no doubt especially for $20. Infamous 1 & 2 as well as Littlebigplanet 2 would come to about $75 at most? That sounds like a solid combination of games to start with.

Not overly excited but I haven't played 2 yet. Will likely do so soon though, especially given it's £4 in CEX...

This will probably sound most hypocritical given it's the series I most play on my PS3 but Call of Duty is the series by fart hat has most outstayed its welcome.

Nice opinion Sikh, many of those you mentioned are huge issues but I don't think both games are terrible because of them. I just think both failed to live up to the hype with a lack of polish in some departments in regard to multiplayer. I and many other people still find both games to be a lot of fun to play despite these crippling issues. Unfortunately there will never be the perfect multiplayer experience. For example, I myself love killstreaks and find they define CoD for what it is but you hate them. Games can't cater for everyone's tastes bro.

Play "Kill Confirmed", you can't camp, you gotta get the tags. Problem solved on MW3.

Right on the money bro and something I'd second to all camper-haters!!!

Apocalypse released smack bang in the middle of all the Japan earthquakes so the developers delayed release (because the game is based around natural disasters) and consequently lost a lot of customers. Shame really... I played it and there's literally no one online. I bet even Pacific Rift has a more active community.

inFamous. I'm naturally collecting dead drops, shards and completing side missions whilst progressing with the main story so trophy grinding is kept to a minimum by the time the credits roll. :)

I would almost definitely class it as 'meh' if you're playing alone but if you have friends that play, then it is quite easily one of the most immersive multiplayer experiences let alone overall, a gamer can have.
