It's quite the opposite; it's the ideal time to buy. Everything GameCube-related is at about as low a price as it's gonna go, and most titles are still possible to find. Pick one up now, or feel regret later.

I've been a big fan of the MVP Baseball franchise since EA brought it about, and it's certainly worth your time at $10-17 (depending on whether you'd rather have Albert or Manny on the cover), but I have to admit that if you love the numbers and scouting and strategy of baseball as much as I do, MLB 2K6 deserves a look. It's got some really interesting content, like having the camera in over the shoulder of one of your baserunners and letting the computer bat for you, scouting reports on every MLB player in the game, a more challenging and realistic pitching dynamic, and some other cool stuff I can't remember. The hitting and fielding mechanics definitely take some getting used to, though. Also, it's going to be fairly hard to find, and you'd probably have to pony up around $25 bucks for it, which is probably too much to be spending for any GameCube game without the words 'Twilight Princess' or 'Super Smash' in their titles, at this point. The MVP games are most likely a safer investment for you, but MLB 2K6 with the single-most overrated athlete in professional sports, Derek Jeter on the cover is certainly an alternative.

You speak clearly and concisely, I must compliment you on that, but I don't know that you're quite centered in your thinking on the matter. You say you haven't read the announcement that the GameCube is "dead"? Although there hardly needs to be an official press release for a console to die, there actually was one. Some executive for Nintendo said pretty bluntly that no more GameCubes were going to be manufactured, and that Nintendo was just interested in selling off their existing stock. But nevermind that; your thinking doesn't sound very realistic to begin with. Sounds like you're talking about a MMORPG.. for the GameCube, the only system made in the last six years or so that's so completely incapable of supporting that kind of game. You're very optimistic and a swell 'idea man', but I just don't see it as even marginally realistic.

If you want a home theater, it has to be a PS3. The Blu-Ray format is outselling the HD-DVD format two-to-one. Also, the PS3 has more potential for killer graphics. However, I would recommend you hold off on a new system entirely. It's all horrifically overpriced, and the graphics of the PS2/GC aren't that outdated. Stick with what you've got for '07, man.

GameCube's better games are holding up quite well, although the fact that the Wii's graphics are not strong probably helps with that. The price of the system and it's peripherals are all quite attractive right now, in fact they won't get any better, from a price/availability standpoint. Yes, strike while the iron's hot, my friend. Nintendo did release a wireless Internet attachment, but didn't advertise it very hard, as it wasn't viable as an online function when compared to PS2 and XBox. You can get one new from Wal-Mart for like $30, but I seriously doubt you're gonna get your money's worth out of it. You'd probably be better off just having your friends over for hours of TimeSplitters 2, F-Zero, Metroid Prime, RE4.. all the greats. But if you're determined to get some online out of your 'Cube, then yes, it can be done.

What do you mean "What are we supposed to say?"  Use your head.

I mean there's not much to say to that. F-Zero is $7.99 used and Battalion Wars is $9.99 new at GameStop and EB Games, so that's just not an earth-shattering deal. Suppose I could say that F-Zero is a great game, but most people who have played it know that.

Dead to Rights, not sure if maybe it lost something in transition to the GameCube, but it just played dull as a butterknife to me. LotR: Two Towers was brutally simple, also didn't like it. Star Fox Adventures had great production values, but was just too kiddy for me, should have passed. And Vexx sucks, plain and simple. But since I spent less than $25 between the four, it's not a huge tragedy. Shelf's just a little more crowded.

Another vote for Two Thrones. Lego Star Wars is just a novelty, Two Thrones is a real game.
