Im gonna write this comment, and then later when it's in the gamespot archives, I will ask for full licensing compensation fees for it being on their website for everyone to see. As it is my personal ip of chosen words. TAKE THAT GAMESPOT!!! I mean, I'm not looking for a payday. And there is mutual respect for both creative directions.
@Ghostly_Knight so is calculating the specific air volume, sun radiation, and relative humidity of each room of a house or building to make sure the accurate amount of cfm's will be given to it from an air handler. but you don't hear HVAC-R specialist and air balancers complain when they do this, or design blue prints for air flow to your home, or office buildings, with wiring schematics to boot, and calculating the proper voltage so you don't fry yourself or burn down a building. But hey, I'm sure drawing a map of previously plotted destination is tough. :)
@dunk_420 actually, it doesn't. If you lie and cheat on your spouse, many consider it a game. Many consider a man, or woman, who purposely lie to their sex partners, in order to be intimate with them, players, it is called a game, but to those involved, it is everything but a game. I play basketball often, and like to compete in competitions, but even though I play in the game, Im considered a basketball player. I have been told quite often that playing video games, makes me a nerd, and I'm childish.
But, never called a gamer.... maybe it's a new age term from the casuals,... :)
@worlock77 If they were attempting to push the music off as their own and copyright it, and not acknowledging that it was made by another, then yes compensation should be given to original creator. But for playing music in a game? No. That's like saying, you used music in your youtube video, now pay the artist! You listen to the radio in your car, pay whoever your listening to!
Everyone seems to be looking for an easy pay check now days. No matter what mr booth alleges, if he wasn't looking for a payday, he wouldn't have mentioned that he wasn't, and he wouldn't have posted it online so all would know about it!!! He could have just gotten in touch with ND and Sony, and handled it privately, same as ms page. This is publicity, and garners attention, and you guessed it, more cash!!!
It personally wouldn't bother me for it to be portrayed in a video game, or a film. It would only be a nuisance if another individual was attempting to resale the idea their's for a profit. Getting upset over someone using your likeness in a movie or a video game, or an inanimate object isn't good, and it can be and should be handled better than this. But, I know some of us need any and everything to complain about. Especially if they aren't making money, this because a reason to get attention, and some cash at the same time, albeit not a good way. You don't wanna be remembered as that guy/girl who didn't have a great career, so you cried about an incident that would not have gotten any attention.
Just to make a headline and grab a buck. I mean honestly, complaining about a likeness portrayal, unless it's being pushed off as a copyright infringement, is just like coke or frito lay whining to the local news because during the interview of an individual, the person behind them were eating lays, and drinking a coke. And now they believe they deserve some of the profit, just because the camera man got it on film. This is a horrible day and age we live in, everyone is so sue happy, and money hungry. This blog isn't even news.. :(
