[QUOTE="SW__Troll"]

[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]Here is what I have:loosingENDS

I've got...

It's not all that much by itself, but I have a big PC game collection regardless.

I'd probably have way more games in this collection if it weren't for my backlog.

Nice games, but mininal collection

I have played like 20x more PC games

If i only count the sierra adventures i have, would be far more than those above

That's just what's on my GOG shelf.

Other than that I have around 150 other PC games atm, and used to own plenty more many years ago that I no longer have.

Nobody will ever be able to protect their software

But they can protect their investment by not alienating legit consumers by making their products not function.

Gabe Newell continues to be right, the rest of the industry sans Nintendo continues to be stupid as sh*t.Randolph

It makes me confused about the industry sometimes.

I mean if I had a business I think I'd at least look at other businesses for inspiration on how I should run my own.

Valve being one of the most successful businesses in the world you'd think that some game developers would actually take their word on it when they state what does, and doesn't affect PC game sales.

It'd be cool if only the people who played every game in this competition could participate, but that's too hard to track.

Instead it looks like this is just a popularity contest in which niche exclusive games go head to head with big-budget games.

Very legit.

Eponique

Well, you can't judge people like that. I've played plenty of games people would consider "niche" (Bastion and LIMBO for me) and disliked them, so I chose the "mainstream" alternative (which I must admit I haven't played). But I still feel bad for Catherine :(

I'm not judging people "like that"

There truly are niche games pitted against big budget titles. I mean half the list you could have guessed which game would have won without seeing a single vote.

I'd say someone who plays PC games around the same amount or more as they do on console, and that means games that are more then just Solitaire.

Though I guess its a broadly defined word.

SPYDER0416

I wouldn't say it's broadly defined, just over-simplified.

To me terms like bookworm, movie buff, and gamer mean that there is a certain level of dedication involved.

Someone who is a bookworm doesn't just read a book every few months, or in some cases less. They dedicate themselves to discovering new authors, and books, and read daily.

Same with a movie buff. You wouldn't call someone who goes to the cinema for a summer blockbuster a movie buff would you?

I think an analogy could be made with the term gamer too. It's someone who is actually dedicated to the hobby of gaming.

So when someone says they're a PC gamer I think most people would understand what that means. It's not someone who just played a flash game for five minutes last weekend, and has already forgotten about it, but instead someone who strives to find, and discover new games, and appreciates the hard work developers put into their products.

PS Vita seriously needs at least a gig or two of internal memory for game saves. Sony won't do it though as they'd rather shove sandpaper up my ass to make a couple extra bucks. I also heard it gets around 3 hours of battery life, so increase that please.

For the 3DS I wouldn't mind a bigger, better looking top screen, and better battery life. Also, I'd prefer to just see them give the 3DS a built-in second analog stick. It serves them no good to just make a big bulky attachment as no developers are ever going to utilize that because the entire 3DS market won't have it. Nintendo only hurts their chances with that idea the longer they keep the 3DS the way it is.

[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"][QUOTE="meetroid8"]The amount of money I'm capable of spending doesn't determine how much of a gamer I am.seanmcloughlin

That wasn't the point of the thread though. I was stating that with higher costs, casual gamers would be less likely to spend money on those machines as such dividing up the communities.

But we play on the system for the better experience not to avoid a certain type of gamer. We wouldn't necessarily care if every casual came to PC if it meant better dev support

Well the thing is that just because different types of gamers exist on a platform doesn't mean every game is going to be catered to the biggest group.

I mean really.

For instance you have EA. Their best-selling franchise is a game called "The Sims". That doesn't prevent them from putting out other games does it?

Zynga is worth more than nearly every game company, but that doesn't mean they all are going to start making Facebook games tomorrow.

It just depends on what the game companies set out to do. Not every company wants to dedicate themselves to making flash games, or fitness games, or w/e.

It's the same as consoles too. It's not like every console game has a baby-level difficulty.

I guarantee there are more casual games, and casual game devs on the PC than any other system. I also guarantee there is more dev support in general on the PC. We get the most of every type of game, casual or complex.
