Why do people think games with low advertising budgets selling 1.1 million copies is a bad thing?
And I love the people who think the PC is not as profitable as consoles.
I seem to recall an article from the LARGEST third party publisher in the ENTIRE WORLD stating that 70% of their operating profit came from the PC.
Jeez seriously why do people post such crap? It's rare that we ever see developers post their own sales numbers because all our data tends to come from NPD which tracks only retail in North America, so numbers always look skewed because PC is kept almost entirely out of the picture.
Just within the last few months we've heard of Terraria selling over a million, Killing Floor selling over a million, Dungeon Defenders sold over a million (a game the devs stated the PC version was outselling consoles 4:1 at release, and the game has been a high seller on PC since), and even Bethesda came out and said Skyrim sold in the "multi-millions" on the PC.
If the PC industry was seriously a "low profit/no profit" area there wouldn't be more third party devs here than any other platforms. There also wouldn't be more third party exclusives than all the other consoles/handhelds combined...
