You need to see what's out there.
Lots of Strategy RPGs, and normal RPGs available, and some good JRPG/JRPG-esque titles too.
Not that you need an "uber" pc to run them all, but one of the best selections of RPGs is on the PC.
im not a fan anything strategy heavy. Its not they are bad it just isint my cup of tea. I also got a good laptop for xmas that can play a good amount of games and I have bought some games already and ran them. Its just my console comes first. I dont hate pc gaming its just I prefer my consoles. I mainly bought a good amount of horro games like cryostasis and penumbra collection and will eventually get to them.
I'm not very big into the strategy side of things myself, but occasionally they can be great. Despite how boring they may look the phrase "Just one more turn" pretty much came to being due to how incredibly addicting Civilization (not an RPG) is, and games like it. Despite that there is still a very wide selection of RPGs even if you ignore the strategy RPGs. In fact it's most definitely the largest selection of RPGs of any of the big systems (consoles/PC).
I'm not really a fan of laptops though. The experience just doesn't quite compare to a desktop, so hopefully that works out for you. I just can't imagine the games being all that fun though. To me I'd place the analogy somewhere around it being like playing a console on a 13" SDTV; it has room to get better, MUCH better. If your laptop has the proper port on it you can very easily hook them up to monitors, or even most modern HDTVs. I'd suggest that especially with those horror games you've got. Do those games justice.
Just keep your mind open. There's soooooooo many PC games out there. I used to be very big into console gaming myself, and even when I began playing PC I never really considered it on the same level as consoles, but as time went on, and I learned more and more about what PC games existed, and dived deeper into the library, the PC just overwhelmed me. I'm surprised almost on a daily basis.
