Yes, she has been right before, about Prince of Persia, the Ghostbusters game, the title of the Sonic RPG on DS, information on Spielberg's LMNO project, info about where Resitance 2 starts out, she announced Far Cry 2 going to consoles weeks before Ubisoft did.

Surfergirl, whatever person or persons run that site, do indeed have contacts at various large studios. Not al the tips turn out to be true or stay that way, but its not all made up BS.

Which is why I really hope this one is not true, but has a good chance of being so. I can envision the scenario of Retro making a really fantastic fantasy adventure game, with that great art design, and then Shigeru "Mr. Casual" Miyamoto saying "You know what would make this even more Nintendo? If he rip out all of your characters and designs, and then slap Sheik or Midna into it, and change your creative world into yet another version of Hyrule. Make it so."

I read some rumors last year some people were angry and leaving Retro because of the next game Nintendo was making them work on after MP3, and that rumor seems to match with this one. I mean, would you want every idea you come up with to always have some of Nintendo's pop setting and story forced on top of it?

I must say, Half Life 2 didn't really impress me either. Its a nice game, but its very repetitive, and too long. Edited down, and the repeating battle scenarios done once or twice each, instead of 2-3 times in a row every hour or so, would really due it well. This is for half Life 2 by the way, not the episodes, which I have not yet played.

On the other hand, Team Fortress 2 and Portal are fantastic games to me. The visual style and class balance of TF2 screams classic, and Portal is one of the best meldings of story and game ever.

Please no, don't let this be true.

For the love of creativety Nintendo, please, please, please don't shackle another great studio of artists and programmers with an ancient, tired franchise. I

Let Retro make their own IP!

Every game from Nintendo does NOT have to be Mario:Subtitle or Zelda:Subtitle.

Incredibley foolish comment. Have you played Portal? The character's "gun" has no direct offensive capabilities-and thats the only "weapon" you use throughout the entire game.

Just play it on PC, thats what it was designed for and controls best on, and it doesn't take too powerful of a PC to run, even at medium settings.

I still thinks it funny that Nintendo, who allegedly has such a great eye for innovation, had these students who came up with Narbacular Drop/Portal at the game school they fund, Digipen, and completely overlooked them.

Foolish. Many of the things that the surfer girl site has listed have been confirmed, and many other things have been backed up by developers like Phil Fish who post over at neogaf.

The site just posts what tips it recieves. Some of them are true, some may have been true, and some aren't. It all depends on the source.

For recent things that have happend, surger girl announced the god game black and white style game for the Wii Big Huge Games was building, announced the Ghostbusters game, talked about the Sonic RPG and named it before NP revealed the name.

"The only thing this game has in common with FarCry is that it takes place on a tropical island."

I'm sorry, but thats just untrue. I enjoyed the Crysis demo, thought it was fun, but is clearly is built up version of the Far Cry gameplay, and shares many similiarities. There have been definite improvements made, but to try and act as if this is a whole new FPS gameplay type is a dishonest position to take.

The assertion that Wiimote is anywhere near the accuracy of kb/mouse= automatic self-ownage.

I'd recommend anyone who actually thinks that it's already close play MP3 without using lock-on. Pretty difficult...now imagine the enemies having competent AI. Yeesh, that wouldn't go over too well. Sure, the lock-on makes it easier to hit...but then you lose the "benefit" of being able to point, since the goal of the game is to keep your wrist still and pointing at the center of the screen.

Vampyronight

I played the entire game without using lock on, the first time through, and it was great. I actually forgot all about lock on after a couple hours. Circle strafing was easy, pin point aiming was easy.

The only advantage the the mouse had over it was turning speed, which can be tweaked in Medal of Honor for the Wii, so i can see the potential for it being as good as a mouse.

An additional point, from my viewing experiance, weaker people, people aren't that fit or more precisley used to working with their hands and have strong wrists, tend to have a harder time playing with the wiimote in MP3, and suffer some wrist pain after an extended session. For those people like that, I recomend you take a break, or start exercising. :)

It is Far Cry 1.5 in terms of gameplay though. Thats not a dig, Far Cry was fun, and this is a slicker, slightly more refined version of that, with some platformer/arcade FPS style power ups through your nanosuit.

I honestly think Unreal3 looks better than this game, but thats not the big thing with Crysis. The main deal is that it still looks fantastic, and features very large levels, better enemy AI and physical interaction with the world.

It will probably be a very good game in the end, just don't go into playing it, expecting that it will be gameplay nirvana, or a revolution in FPS play. Its not. Its Far Cry, improved overall and with interesting tech behind it.

The review was poorly written. Its not a good review, it doesn't help the person reading the review to determine whether or not this game is something they would want to play. Its a piece that would struggle to pass muster in a high school course, let alone something done professionally.

Overall, the new editorial direction at gamespot is not off to a strong start. They seem to be placing a higher premium on being contrarian, and presenting themselves as the "hardcore", defined by adolescent males, game site. Looking at some of the affectations that their writers and reviewers have, looking at this clownish middle school behavior, trying to, laughably, look hard and "urban" in game video reviews, it really diminishes any credibility this site has established over the years. There is starting to be a creeping feeling that gamespot is becoming more and more filled with scenesters, people who are more about the surrounding internet culture and hype about video games, than about the actual games. Which is one of the worst things than can happen to a magazine or site covering any specialist hobby.
