It's a shame - but these people would not be seen as athletes and what they are doing is just isn't seen as sport by the Australian Community. Yet they train and compete as hard as any enthusiast I have yet seen. What I was most surprised to see is that our team is a relatively good looking young team - most would get the view that they would be overweight and scruffy.
I agree with the last point. GTA 4 is rated 15+ here and 18+ elsewhere. This makes it easier for children to get their hands on. Had the game not been edited, I'd be more worried about that. But if the game came through unedited, and classified for the correct age demographic, the same as elsewhere, than there would be a more balanced system better equipped to inform and protect minors.
I agree with the gist of this article. Australia is a gaming backwater. We pay more, get less, and have lower broadband penetration (which is inferior and more costly) and there isn't a tax break for the gaming industry, something which they need to keep afloat.
Krome is a wonderful developer. The unannounced game has been kicked around for a while now, but it is a Star Fox/ Lylatwars space shooter type game, which uses the Ty The Tasmanian Tiger characters and is heading for Xbox Live Arcade and other console downloadable services. The other is an unknown.
