Hmm 120 for 2 years alienware seems like the good idea for the build for 2 reasons first is the fact that I have heard about less issues 2nd thing is im going to be taking this with me on campus day to day my messenger bag isnt a rollercoaster ride ,but if HPs are already of shaky build that does not instill confidence on the flip side the HP runs circles around the alienware well I dont get my pay check till the 8th so I have till then to chose[QUOTE="Sarge1442"]

yah thats definitely a problem. See if you can't get an extended warranty on the laptop and pray it isn't too expensive.

Well then TBH theres no point in paying the premium for the alienware laptop. Im sure you can find regular laptops with the same specs as the alienware for a few hundred less.
very true main reason I looked at it is good specs for the size and people say there built well which is good because well once again messenger bag up and down campus. HP a friend of mine said to check out and turns out you got pretty insane specs for the price but apparently there built like a mcdonalds happy meal toytrue what do you think the chances of the hp crapping out are after the first year because its a 1 year warrenty[QUOTE="Sarge1442"]

I would still definitely think about the HP. HP should have a warranty on the laptop so you should be good. The parts in the HP compared to the Alienware are 2 or 3 levels ahead.

M11x has a bad hinge, it WILL break eventually. (I have one, it is in the process of breaking). Dell will have a fix permanent fix in march. Besides the hinge it's a damn nice little laptop.
The HP is an HP. DO NOT buy an HP. EVER.

Damn I did not realize this many people had issues with HP as much horse power as that thing has the M11x is looking like the far better option

[QUOTE="Fizzman"] what are the specs on your m11x
L4D will run maxed out and I had ME2 on mostly high settings with a respectable 30+fps. I really don't game much on it, but I like having the option. I use it mostly for school/notes and it does a fine job with that to. I get 5-6 hours of battery life when I switch to integrated graphics.

4 gigs of ram
GT335M
Intel C2D SU7300. Its OC'd to 1.6ghz I think, whatever the BS Alienware Bios allows.
I got the M11x a few weeks after It launched. Im pretty sure they equip them with Core I series CPU's now.
yea mines going to be an i5 with 8 gigs of ram im going to over clock the i5 with turbo to 2.0 ghz that should help performanceCant wait to crack into left 4 dead 2 and mass effect on a machine that can actually run them and make them look respectable what are the specs on your m11x[QUOTE="Sarge1442"]

The M11x is a great laptop. I have had one for a little under a year now, and it runs flawlessly. There is one problem though and that involves the hinges. Its a design defect and will most likely happen to you. They proceed to crack and eventually break which lets in debris behind the screen. I had a Dell technician come by and fix it. It was free, but be prepared to spend some time calling tech support get a technician to come out and fix it. I have read that Dell is finally fixing the issue, but just a warning in advance.
Performance wise it runs most modern games like Mass Effect 2 and other games very well.

stay away from HP's. I have had 7 friends, all who've had an HP laptop. each of theirs ended up breaking.

[QUOTE="Sarge1442"]Hmm that alienware is seeming to be a great idea the more I hear espcially because I just found a 100 dollar off coupon online bringing the price after tax and shipping down to 1080 I sent my net book into HP fully describing the problem I had with it (random freezing from the hard drive) and I described it on the phone. They sent it back 3 weeks late without fixing the problem. They replaced the whole mainboard of the netbook without even looking at the hard drive. Not only that but they sent it back with the back plate where the battery was not even screwed in. wow and I thought that dell I had was bad[QUOTE="Human-after-all"]Had a HP and it broke and their warranty service was hte biggest joke I ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Needless to say I decided to cut my losses. I would recommend a Macbook before I'd ever recommend HP....and I hate Apple. Human-after-all
