For MANY people who have left school, work and mainly game in their free time keeping a gaming pc upgraded isnt very expensive. Compared to other hobbies my friends have mine is probably cheaper eg going to the the match every home game (£50 a pop, includes transport, ticket and a few drinks before the game). Going out drinking every weekend is massive in my city, most over 18's do it every week and that is probably £50 pound a go too. Multiply this by 52. The result is keeping a top end gaming pc plus money left over so i can still go out and do ther things.

It is not an "infinite amount of money", i am not rich and manage to pay bills, have a good social life and play all my games at 2560x1440 at the highest settings.

It happens in many places. Cars cost alot more for a bit more performance. The ratio being much more harsh the higher up the ladder you look. This applies to computers too. i just count myself lucky that the top end price for my hobby (gaming) is within my budget and many other working people whos passion it is.

You wont be able to use 3d vision with a large hdtv that is 200hz,/600hz etc. This is because these tv's do not accept a 120hz signal. They accept 60hz signal and use techniques to refresh the screen that many times. For example, a pc game will be showing only 60 fps even though its being output at 120fps. Although the tv is refreshing 200 time per second you will still only see 60 true frames.

You can use a 3d hdtv with nvidia 3d play. This outputs to 3dtv's and converts the signal to a method of 3d the tv willrecongnise and display as 3d.

Everyone is different.

People in this thread are using one life experience and using that as their basis on the psychology of everyone.

I know people who will always pirate. If they cannot pirate they just dont game. Gaming isnt important to them, if it aint free then they arent bothered. So no lost sales there.

I know people who will never pirate. This is for various reasons. Some because they want to support the industry, others because of morals. Im sure there are other reasons why they never will. Again no sales lost.

I also know people who bought all their games before they couldplay pirated games on their xbox. The day they could play pirated games was the day they never bought another game. Definitely sales lost.

Maybe different locations around the world have different percentages of these types that i have met. I think this because the people who stopped buying games the day they could play pirated games are the majority of gamers i know. However i realise this isnt the case for everyone as oneof my friends claims he only knows a few pirate gamers and the majority he knows buy their games.

So from my experience i know that there is definite sales loss due to piracy. The problem is i dont know to what extent this really effects the industry.

As said above, if your framerates are good with 64xaa enabled then you may as well use it.

Even at 2560x1440 i can see a difference between 8x and 64x. Especially in games with lots of foliage. It isaminor difference, however if your framerate dictates you can use 64x then do it.

64xaa only applies to people with sli. As it actualy disables sli performance for the game. Basically it then renders the game at 32xaa on one card, then uses the second card to double that up.

With pc game graphics being stagnent for a while 99% of games will run at 1080p with 32xaa at 60fpson a 460 and above.

3d vision using a gtx 580 will give you a far better 3d experience than the ps3.

First of all you will be able to run a higher res and have the highest settings. Unfortunately the ps3 version has to output at half resolution at around 30fps. This looks alot more blurry than full 720p and 1080p 3d that your gtx580 will be capable of sustaining smooth framerates in.

Also from my experience the pc version of 3d lets me set the convergence and depth far higher than the ps3 3d will.

3d blu ray seems to performthe sameat full 1080p on both platforms. However the ps3 cannot output 3d and uncompressed sound at the same time. So for people using this as part of a home cinema it may not be ideal.

The following is just my opinion, i can see others could be the opposite:

Yes, i have a 22inch Viewsonic monitor @ 1650x1050 probably around the same dpi as the 24inch screens. It is the first display that got me into 3d gaming. I love the sharpness of it. Something i miss from using the projector. How i wish it was 1080p :( However the loss in resolution is not as important as the screen size for me with 3d. More so than 2d gaming where i always use my monitor. I still use the monitor for all my muliplayer fps games in 2d for the 120hz. The is because as you said, you feel more disconnected with the bigger display, as i take my mp fps serious i dont want this disconnection as it makes me play alot worse, so i use the monitor. But for everything else 3d wise it has to be the bigger screen. EXCEPT, nearly forgot, i play wow on the monitor as it has to be played mouse and keyboard with the screen in your face, and this always reminds me that i wish the projector had a higher resolution. Biggest plus being in the end no ghosting at all for the dlp.

But back to the games, been playing some more Just cause 2 tonight. Still gobsmacking, cant put the game down :D
