I'm fully prepared to buy this game. I had a lot of fun with the original Watch Dogs, but I didn't like the main character. Way too contradictory.
I won't pre-order though. I have had quite enough of underwhelming games coming out broken and under-delivered. I love supporting developers, but I cannot commit to any more lemons before its lemonade.
I remember going to my local anime/game store (closed a long while back) and picking up the VHS (no dvd back then) of the original Ghost in a Shell. The whole cyberpunk look had me hooked. About 20 years I've waited for this movie without realizing it. I've seen every series of Ghost in a Shell as well as the revamped and unnecessary 2.0 version. Much as I realize its a purely Japanese work, I don't actually mind Scarlett Johanssen being the lead character. Considering how she played Lucy which is a similar deep thought/action character. I'm hopeful this is just the beginning of many movies like this to upgrade from current Superhero films.
If it doesn't have unplayable glitches, oversized patches and general intability. If it tells a great story and has characters that I can feel connected to on some level. If it doesn't require only 5 hours to complete, or takes 500 hours to get anywhere. I don't care what the score is. I'll play it and hopefully take something good from that.
@openmind23: Agreed. Also have a Xonar and using Beyerdynamic 252 and Bose speakers for external. Considering the original and the mods for improving Skyrim environment sounds, there is still a way to go before SSE is back to what I am comfortable with again. Be glad when its proper fixed.
@outlawwitcher12: Its a new engine. Framework, code and mesh changes. Mods will take time to upgrade to be compatible, if they need to be at all. Either way, it takes time and its up to the creators when and if to do the changes (most of them volunteer their work and no pay for play). I have over a hundred mods on my PC version. But considering the benefits of 64bit over 32bit (and the knowledge of what that means) I can be patient.
So you can either be patient too, or go back to playing the original. They are separate games. Have fun either way.
@b_o_l_h_a: Exactly! Plus - no more distant mountain flicker and needing a mod for lip sync issue. :)
SSE has potential. It'll just take some time. Like with the original, but without waiting for all those patches that were needed, and still didn't fix everything :P
@deviltaz35: Nah. Last laptop I owned was in 2006 for work. Always built my own custom PC rig since 2002 for gaming. Skyrim was a buggy game from the start. Constant CTD, sloppy code and physics hit and miss. Once the patches started working and I got the right mods it looked pretty as heaven on a screen, but was way too cluttered and code messy. SKSE, skeleton mods, animation, skin, adult parts, outfits, hdt hair and various bouncy body parts, environments, weather, outfits, etc. Ini file changes. I've added and subtracted mods for over 3 years and I'm tired. Kinda nice to start fresh and see where this goes. Or doesn't. Meh.
So many disappointments in games this year. I think this just managed to come out at the right time for me.
Also ... Skyrim SE distant mountains don't flicker anymore. Buildings still do sometimes ...
