[QUOTE="wklzip"][QUOTE="Staryoshi87"]I got no performance gain from my HD4870 going from a 8800GTS outside of my 3dmark score increasing by 2.5k. It's going back to Amazon and I'm waiting until christmas or later to buy another card. The HD4870 is technically the better card but having used it firsthand I can't recommend it due to its myriad of quirks and lackluster performance.Staryoshi87
I think you are having some a serious bottleneck there yos\i. :(
E6600 @ 3.0Ghz will not bottleneck any single GPU setup imo. Also, it's an 8800GTS 640mb, not 512 Rayvin.
My current setup runs crysis at 1680x1050 all settings on high around 20fps. The Hd4870 initially allowed me to run at the same settings + 2x AA at 30fps, but that began to drop after 15 minutes of gameplay and become excessively choppy. It also caused my system to fail to post twice in 3 power-ons. The fact that it's taking ATI this long to release drivers for their cards (almost a month) also puts me off, even if they help the situation. I'm going back to my 8800 and holding out until this winter / next year for a newer card. If they add physx support to the 8 series card like they are supposed to, I may not upgrade my GPU for some time. (I like to play with crysis physics :)) IDK if it's just me, but high end 8 series card owners don't have to fall into the upgrade trap.... your cards are fine for a good while :) Other than the synthetic improvement (3dmark score) I saw no noticable performance gains in any application, and often worse performance. Maybe it just didn't like my motherboard or something, but I've decided that even if the problems can be resolved, that $280 can be spent better elsewhere :)
You were actually searching a big performance gain from 8800GTS to HD4870? Yes, HD4870 is better, but not good enough to go for it instead of 8800GTS. What were you thinking?
[QUOTE="GTR2addict"]im for Dell people, you seem to look at dell in such a naive way, they offer systems at good prices, remember not everyone builds there rigs, whether you like it or not but Dell have been a Major factor as to why the PC industry is doing well.[QUOTE="yoyo462001"][QUOTE="s00kah"]

oh yh, ure saying that cuz u hav a dell... those dell speakers sell u out...
its no secret that my machine is a Dell, ive said it load of times on these forums, i decided that the 100 pounds i would have saved building it wasn't worth the time i would have to put into considering that i also had exams at the time.why didn't you hold on the buying and build a pc after exams on the holidays or something. You didn't have time for max. 4 hours of building the pc, but you had alot more to play games on PC. Where's the point?
[QUOTE="Angry_Bosmer"][QUOTE="Shegevara"]for what price lolGTR2addict
just 3000$ :lol:

wow... i'm smelling the longest thread in the universe... :P
I thought you buy your cards in a computer store. And suppose your graphics card died?
You go to the store and you want a replacement? WHAT A BIG DEAL?!?
And if they tell you they will try to fix it they will and they have rights to do so and you have a fixed card and you are set to go. I don't know what that angry fuss is all about here.
lol, i had to change my mind at the last second and bought the X1650 PRO, 512MB APG. I only have 350 watts of power, and the other one would totally kill my computer.
Alrite, I just hope my $95 was worth it or not. :-)

you got rip-offed by 25$, but that's not much. Still, have you thought about a totally new PC?
