[QUOTE="Kreatzion"]

[QUOTE="Got_to_go"]Rank D+ now. I'm getting my ass handed to me most of the time, but I'm improving...slowly. I need to work on combos and looking for openings to use an ultra.Got_to_go

Who do you use?

Cammy

You get a free Ultra 1 when Cammy lands a cr.FP on counter-hit. A good setup is to throw one once with the intention of it being blocked, and then throwing another to score the counter-hit when your opponent tries to retaliate. Just learnt to visually check for the counter-hit pop-up to appear and throw the Ultra out there.

Trust me, it works. Well, it did in SF4, anyway. I'm sure it still does now.

LOL!

The next time I see you on, I'll take you on - and the trash that goes along with it. ;)

Metamania

I'm gonna bust your asses with Cody. Just so ya know. Too bad I gotta work tonight, though.

Is Cody your main?

Yeah, dude, weird as it is, Cody's my main. Dude's just got options I can vibe with.

If anyone wants to play, soon would be a good time because I've been in a SF phase. Just ask ShenLong. Had to take out the trash. ;)

[QUOTE="jks22112"]

To the pad VS controller discussion, yes you can probably get much better with a pad, but I don't find it necessary. I play with a controller, it's what I'm used to, and what I've learned to play with. I'm definitely not great, not tournament level, but I'd like to think I am pretty good, and can pull off specials and ultras usually always first try. I'm not sure how familiar you are with fighting games, or if you were/are a big arcade player, but if you are used to controllers, you can probably make it work for you. The game is great regardless and you should most definitely get it at $17. That's a steal. (Unless we're talking about original SF4..then that's pretty normal.)

That being said, PS3 controllers are defintely better. Though I don't like how the R2/L2 buttons are. My fingers always slip off them.

Got_to_go

So you think the game is worth it even with the ****ty 360 d-pad? I'm used to the Playstation controller and I'd be perfectly happy with it, but I'm not sure about the 360's.

And to Catalyst, paying $50 for a arcade stick is still really pricey to me. It takes a lot of the edge of of the super cheap price I'd pay for the game.

Like I said, I really want to play Super Street Fighter IV. I've been waiting a long time for a chance to have other human players to play against in a fighting game, I'm just not sure if the experience would be ruined by the 360's crappy d-pad.

There are several tournament-level players that wreck shop with a pad. It's not that you can't get really awesome using a pad, it's just that you're less likely to than if you'd played on a stick.

If it really means that much to you to get in there for old times' sake, go for it, stick-be-damned. If it really starts to mean that much to you to up your game, shelling out another $50 for a Hori EX2 wouldn't be a question at all.

GGs to those that I have fought.

It's just too damn bad that I wasn't able to get back into the party or the game after that.

Someone else's connection really sucked! *looks at Shen* :P

Metamania

Yeah, I had fun with you guys, even though my bull**** connection spoiled things somewhat. Sorry about that, fellas. 6 down and 1 up is effing useless when the ping is 180...

On the bright side, my connection is fine for HD Remix and Forza 3, if anyone's interested.

[QUOTE="Gemini_Red"]

[QUOTE="SteveTabernacle"] If your not willing to drop big money on an arcade stick and spend large amounts of time on this one game, don't bother with it, because you won't be able to compete. Most of the more casual players have already been scared off, and really, their wasn't half as many of them for this game as their was for the standard version in the first place. Unless you have a lot of local friends who can play, then it can be pretty damn fun. If you don't already have an account at SRK, don't waste your time or money. My two cents.DarkCatalyst

See that's why I haven't picked up SSFIV or the original: It wouldn't just be the cost of the game, it would be the arcade stick too. I just can't play a fighting game with a regular controller. Add that to the fact that I haven't been a competitive player in fighters since SFII, and that also makes me hesitant. I know my skills have greatly dimished. Shame too as I would like to challenge some of you(Catalyst in particular for some reason), but I just don't have the desire to build myself up to that calibur again.

To each his own, but it's not "TE or bust" as some people might try to tell you. Honestly, some of my best performances came while I was using a Hori EX2/FS3, which as arcade sticks go, are the furthest thing from cost-prohibitive. Not to mention, unless you really abuse the hardware, it's only a one-time expense. For reference, I played the "Epic" match that Shen and I put on YouTube, on an EX2. I didn't have my TE yet.

I second this. I was also using the Hori EX2 at the time, and it was perfectly fine for what I wanted then. The TE is notably better, in my opinion, but the EX2 can get you where you want to be for only around $60.

Alright, I'm on XBL again... strictly speaking. Thing is, the connection sucks so effing hard, I might as well not be. There might be a way to get more out of it, but right now, it's bad. Like, pointless-to-play-SF-online bad. Ugh...

So I should be back on XBL in the next day or so. Who's gonna be down for some battles?

Sup guys...

Alright, so I read DC's proposal for the GUP redux, and I'm not against it at all. What did we learn from the first GUPs? That playing as only one character for a whole month SUCKS ASS, that's what. Well, there were some cool things, like the gameplay mechanics I might have otherwise ignored (piano method, anyone?), but a month with nobody but Sagat? Shoot me.

What if we do this: we go about choosing Project characters for each other just like before, and we still have to stick to with that character for a solid thirty days. But this time around, we can choose up to two more Project characters for ourselves, with the only limitation being it has to be someone that would demand real effort in order to make headway. Truthfully, I think if we have three characters to choose from for the month, the one that is chosen for us by our peers would pretty much get ignored, so two total Project characters seems like a smarter compromise.

I'd do it anyway... and just think, now we can all get together and actually enjoy this Project in several big sessions. Pretty cool.

[QUOTE="DarkCatalyst"]We need to get some team battles going at some point. I want to periodically discuss with Shen and Kreatzion which one of us will Daigo the entire other team any given time. :)Metamania
Daigo us? Please. :P

I just want to say for the record that I will bust MM's ass on SSFIV.

That is all.

:P
