The one I'm trying to get registered is a 24-bit Bitmap, but I have several types, including mostly JPEG and GIF. This shouldn't matter at all because when I click on the pictures tab, then select my computer, it says "no pictures found," without even displaying any of my folders. I can see everything perfectly fine through Windows Media Center, but that doesn't help me because I'm looking to use a picture as my dashboard background.

Recently my 360 broke, so I had it sent to Microsoft and they replaced it. So I had to redo the setup for my console to see my computer's media, such as music and photos. After that was done, my console started to have the most bizarre problem I've ever seen: going to the music and video tabs work normally and the console displays all my music properly, but when I go to the pictures tab, it says there are none. To temporarily resolve the problem, I plugged in my flash drive to the console, and it doesn't recognize photos on that either!

So basically my Xbox has no idea how to view pictures and I have absolutely no idea why. Can anyone help me out?

I don't think it makes sense that they wouldn't repair it just because it doesn't have a sticker anymore, even for a price. Anyway, I talked to a representative and he believed that I did not do anything to officially tamper with the console since I lacked the means to even open it. Unfortunately, though, the repair center has the final say on whether or not it is considered void, but he attached a footnote to my shipping order that should hopefully convince them of my story. Either way, I have to send a note along with the console explaining the situation. Hopefully they will still agree to fixing the console, as I'm sure they must have some way of verifying whether or not the console has been opened.

So wait a second, they won't even repair it at all if the stupid seal is broken? That doesn't even make any sense. If I have to buy a new console anyway, then I'm going to ship it over with a letter saying that there has not been any tampering whatsoever and that I will take any steps necessary to prove it. I don't know why I'd have to buy a new console just because it's not under warranty anymore. Are you sure they would literally refuse to repair any voided console? Because at the very least I can send it and see if they will just ignore it, as some have claimed they have for them, and if not then I'm not at a loss since they can just keep it if they want to charge me for return shipping.

Why would I blame Microsoft for something I did? I'm not stupid, the software problem was my friend's fault, and opening the console was my choice. It had nothing to do with them. Now are you sure that it still voids the warranty, even if I am only covered now because of the RRoD? I have not been able to find any information regarding whether or not this constitutes as a voidable warranty.

My 360 suddenly decided that it wasn't going to play games anymore and now I have to send it to be repaired. Apparently I am still barely under warranty due to its abrupt contraction of the red rings. The problem is that last summer, my friend tripped over the console while it was playing a game and it corrupted the save data. I couldn't get the game to work, so I thought it was a disc problem. I went to have it cleaned, but it worked fine there so I figured it must be my hardware. I was out of the standard one year warranty at that point, so I thought it would be alright to open up the unit and clean the laser.

However, I lacked the bizarre screwdriver needed to open it, so I had to close it back up without any tampering whatsoever performed on the console. So peeling off the sticker was pointless since nothing at all was done to it. The problem turned out to be a need to clear the system cache, but I need to know if removing the sticker alone is enough for Microsoft to foot me with a repair bill. Are there any other ways for them to check if any tampering has been done? Because I will gladly explain the situation if I must and if there's any way to prove it, I need to know.

I'll try that. Do you have specific instructions for where to find that option?

I've been trying to help my friend and his brother set up a direct connection (via ethernet cable) between his Xbox 360 and his laptop using a connection bridge. However, every time we make the bridge, the internet connection drops. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem? I can provide additional details if needed.

Why starting a new thread is such a big deal to Gamespot, I have no idea. But whatever.

Last month my friend dropped my 360 while we were playing Rock Band 2 and now the disc won't work. Three weeks ago I got it buffered: it's spotless. However, it still did not work. Two days ago I took it to get re-buffered and the game worked on the store's Xbox. So if it's not the disc, it must be the 360, right?

Maybe not. My 360 plays all other games flawlessly without any problems whatsoever. So what could the problem possibly be? I thought it might be the lens so I tried opening the console. Problem is that in order to open it, I need some weird screwdriver head I've never seen or heard of before. My friend says he has one so I'm leaving it half open until he gets here tomorrow.

But what I want to know is if there is any way to clean the lens without opening the rest? I also want to know how one single game could possibly not work on my console but work on others when every other game works fine. If I do need to open the console, how do I open the disc drive itself? I haven't been able to find any tutorials. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I asked a perfectly legitimate question and someone locked it. What the **** is the deal!?
