@LordRaymond If Battlefield won it would have been a step up for gaming, people going for quality over quantity and proper releases over annual releases but sadly the battle turned the way of the casual COD addict since they simply didn't bother looking at better games (same reason many good games don't sell well but COD constantly does, these guys play COD all there life and little else).
Sure, that's why they are making Crysis 3, because the first 2 weren't even profitable :/ Also Halo is probably massively profitable, awesome games and awesome sales of that series.
Well to be fair there is capcom and Activision around still. Capcom make some good games but there DLC is atrocious and how they always have it as on disc content etc. that you just unlock. Activision on the other hand just care about money money money money money. They'd kill the industry so long as they could be sole profiteers of it. EA at least has periods of sense such as the period where they made some new IP's like Mirrors Edge and they invest heavily in games like BF3 to make better stuff than the craptastic Activision but I can see why people don't like EA (I don't much either). I am sick of all there EA online passes and stupid mishandling of Bioware (turning them to making MMO's and crap sequels with half the features / mechanics missing). Either way I think EA isn't the worst but they have to really listen to there consumers more, no more promising we'll make massive changes with dialogue choices and not delivering, no more half baked sequels from Bioware with half the best stuff missing (like Dragon Age and ME2 RPG mechanics). Also quit kicking half of your staff out the door after a major project, keep them employed full time or shut your company down and pack it in.
I appreciate they are implementing a scheme to help them profit from the market of gear selling but I think they should lower the fees. They will still make money taking just 10% as it's not even real products and it's sad they couldn't mitigate some of the transfer fees if they are going to charge you 15% just to sell it. I'd have really like a 20% total and a 25% would have been okay but 30% is scraping it a bit since that's close to 1/3rd of your money lost. I know it's actually 15% and then 15% of the amount after the initial 15% has been taken so it's not actually 30% but it still stings a bit. In my opinion I'd be fine paying fees but close to 30% is pretty bad.
@PS3BigFan If your looking for a handheld then PSV but if your looking for the best system I'd recommend Wii U. After all it can do more types of gaming than any other system (can play handheld style 2 screen and stylus type games, it has motion control / gyroscopic movement and the standard control layout for normal hardcore games) not to mention for a few years it'll be the most powerful console out if Sony and MS are holding out on releasing there new system so it will deliver the best ports for a while. I think the fact it'll have more ways to play, better games etc. will win it but in the end if you want a portable then PSV is a good choice.
@Yo-gan It looks like it uses every peripheral from the old systems so I imagine the classic controller peripheral will work but the pad on the Wii U doesn't look odd enough (like Wii) for me to feel I'd need a new pad really.
You'll notice how important music (and sound effects) are to games when you just turn the sound off and feel disconnected. Music is even more engaging than the other stuff too since it creates the mood. People often shirk it off but thats part of the reason I praise Halo so much, it gets the music right every time.
For me, I've always loved story but while story telling can matter I have always been a concept man. I bought all of scott pilgrim without any idea of how good it was just because the concept appealed and same with other games, manga, movies etc. and generally if the concept is right then the game is right. For example trying to be fair but critical at the same time, uncharted just didn't do it for me, because the story telling is good but the story itself just isn't anything special. Whereas I love Halo for the good concepts but the story telling itself is below what the concept deserves at times and the way they approach characters (very little) is also quite bad but ultimately it's story is better than Uncharteds which is just a new place for drake to meet some gun touting bad guys who will try and steal a treasure each time. Overall I'm smart enough to fill the gaps in story telling and understand when a story stands out for what it is and not just a well told cliche though so I end up loving a good concept. Story telling can be important too though and is essential to let a story shine and have more impact.
Probably the worst sequel I've ever seen. Taking revolutionary ideas like unique starting stories (great for role playing) and also stripping down almost every feature from equipping allies etc. just reeks of lazy design. They couldn't keep up with the scope of the original mechanics with the time span of the current releases so features got stripped and what made DA the game it was is no longer there in my opinion at least. I simply can't get into this game, since they say they listen to forums then here's my opinion, DA was a great game and DA2 just rubbished every good idea they had for slightly more interesting skill trees but far less dialogue, gameplay, equipment management, story decisions, character building choices and more. Gameplay wise it's far shallower than it used to be.
Kratos_karmakar: The hint that I hadn't seen it being the word USUALLY. Everyone makes decisions on things before they see or buy them, how do you think people pick which games they want? They don't play every game in the world. Never said the story didn't rock, I just said usually (the word usually implies that there is some that will not adhere to the norm). Which Basalisk do you like then, I presumed since you had the avatar of it and I was already talking about anime we were talking about the anime. I already said I liked FMA, seen wolfs rain and it's pretty goodm gunXsword is pretty good but a little odd and not seen the first one you mentioned. Wolfs rain was mostly just wolves running and biting everything in there way cos a flower maiden would take them to paradise, the plot ended there. Anyway this is a Halo topic so if you want to talk about anime lets do it in the private messages okay.
