Well, here's another interesting link. You can pre-order the special edition GTA IV for the PC through this site:

http://uacgames.com/1021174.aspxfatzebra

Hmm Number 7 on the feature list in that link is a lie, M$ hasnt announced anything yet. Unless they just announced it to retailers, because people who work at gamestop have said it is in their database.

What? Gamestop have GTA IV PC in their DB? :o Do they have any estimated date there as well? And where did you hear about their DB anyways?

pc gamers r gonna miss these titles this year

ninja gaiden2

resident evil 5

gears of war2

fable2

resistance 2

killzone2

motorstorm 2

metal gear solid 4

god of war 3

battle field bad company

gta 4

tjdeep_2007

Resident evil 5 will probably be ported for the PC eventually. But if they will port it they better not screw it up like in RE4... Man that game sucked on the PC.

Gears of War 2 - yeah probably won't show up on the PC after the bad sales for GOW on the PC. But, you never know. Maybe they'll port it eventually.

GTA 4 - It'll be ported to the PC and will show up probably by the end of 2008.

Rockstar are not fools.

when theres scope to make SO MUCH MONEY by a pc version, u think they wont grab it ?

I'm a big fan of the gta series but i'm getting more and more pissed off with these late pc releases. the pc users are what made gta so big. why the hell then do they keep doing this !!!

does anyone know a way to make them pay ?

Mtnes

The "why" part is kinda easy to figure out. Let's say the PC version was released before the console versions - First of all PC versions are always cheaper then console versions so that's a loss of money right there. Pirating is a problem like always. and People who will get it for the PC via pirating or buying will not waste more money on consoles, or the console version of GTA. The only people who will get it are people who only own a console. Which is a lot, but not as much as they earn right now. People who own both a console and a PC would obviously get the PC version because it's release was earlier and they can't wait for it. They can't really improve the PC version on the later release of the console because it's way more limited and weaker.

Now let's say the PC version would be released at the same time the console version would be released - Still pirating. Always an issue. If a person has both a console and a PC he would prefer the cheaper version which is the PC. The PC version would probably also have better graphics so people with both PC and console would mostly prefer it. That'll mean less console buys and more importantly less GTA IV console version buys. People who usually pirate would just rather d/l it then buy a console or a PC version at all so thats another loss of possible buys. I know that there's a downloadable version of the Xbox360 but not many people hacked their Xbox360 cuz they are scared. It's not as easy as getting a pirated copy to work for the Xbox360 as it is for the PC.

-Now, we got this situation that Rockstar did which will get them most of the money. People who play the console version of GTA IV praise it and say how awesome it is etc... the PC people (Like myself) are getting jelous as hell. Some (Not like me) give in to the hype and buy a console and a copy of GTA to play it. Others(Like me again), wait anxiously for the PC version. In the meantime, Rockstar makes the PC version better with graphic improvements, players feedbacks, glitch fixing, better Multiplayer etc and by doing that, even the people who own a console will want to get the PC version on a latter release because it'll be way better. That way everyone is happy and Rockstar earns more money. Pirate is still a problem here though, so I suggest they release it via steam to maybe reduce the pirating numbers. :)

Hope this helped you clear up the "why".

P.S: The Estimated release date for GTA IV PC is near xmass. Usually the console version are getting released then since most buys are being done at these months. If the release date for the PC version of GTA IV is really oct-dec then it seems to me like the GTA IV PC version gets a bump in it's position and priority. I suggest that instead of taking your "revenge" on them, buy the game at the end of the year to show them that PC is a worthy gaming industry.

Yup, DNF is the winner. Take 2 are really dumb for not releasing it already... It's like they have a bag full of cash near them, but they refuse to take it... Everyone wants Duke Nukem Forever just to hear good ol' duke say that he's out of gum 1 more time.

Btw, I heard DNF will be released by the end of 2008 or early 2009. I doubt it's true, but one can hope. :)

Hey I just thought of something... Now that the Rockstar dudes got tons of money from the console version of GTA IV, you think they'll maybe decide to release the GTA IV PC port earlier? Maybe they'll think like "Heck, we got awesome sell figures for the console versions of GTA IV. Let's get the PC fans into the action earlier!!"

God, I hope they do...

P.S: I just noticed it, but the thread question is dumb. Why wouldn't anyone want it for the PC? It's either "Yes, I do" or "I don't care". People who say no, don't own a decent PC so of course they'll say no. It won't matter to them anyways.

hot cofee mod case is still there in court....if they release gta4 for pc there will be another hot cofee mod..which rockstar want to avoid this time.....they already facing many problems such as...manhunt2 case , bully case now gta4 thomson issue..hot cofee mod(pc gta san),aussie board notice to rockstar north...now they dont want any trouble....i saw the interview there is no refrence of pc version of GTA4.....that means there will be no GTA for PC....and yes that dec13 date is fake,....tjdeep_2007

Rofl... Shows how much you know about the incident and about the industry as a whole tbh... Let's start with the fact that the coffee mod was Rockstar's screwup. It was a code that was "hidden". My guess is that it was an idea that was later scratched off. Problem is, they didn't really do a good job with hiding this code. Someone found it and "unlocked" that code with the coffee mod. In GTA IV, there won't be a way to program another "coffee mod" or anything like that because they learn from their mistakes. Unless Rockstar are dumb they won't put any code like that again into their new game. It has plenty of stuff like that already in game, so that'll be kinda useless anyways lol. Rockstar said "No comment" when they were asked about the PC version. Now, try to use your common sense and tell me - Why wouldn't they just say - "There will not be a PC version, sorry." or something like that instead of "No comment" if they weren't planning to release a PC version? The no comment was obviously a way to hide the PC release info until the GTA IV console version sales would slow down. You'll hear an announcement about it in a month or 2. Rockstar always face problems with sues, and that didn't stop them from releasing GTA IV for the consoles, why would they stop there and not finish it off with a PC version? They will release it for the PC, because there's no reason to not release it. They will get sued for the console version anyways, so the PC version won't be any different.

Please, if you have no idea what your talking about, stick to threads you actually do know something about. I hate it when people don't know what they're saying, and yet they tell you these dumb stuff as if they are facts.

Lazlow comments about the PC version on the Opie and Anthony Show...

Doesn't really give any new info... I doubt he even knows if Rockstar even planned a PC version or not by his answer.

Ahh, this seems fake as hell but I wanna hear your opinion anyways:

http://neocrisis.com/content/view/1423/41/

According to this, GTA IV will be out by June 30th. The only reason I think it's fake is because... well first of all it's not announced anywhere and secondly because the English level that is used on this letter sucks. But maybe thats because they are from Rockstar North I dunno. Let me know what you think :)

http://gamesweasel.com/blog/news/gta-iv-pc-release-date/

It says that the last page of the GTA IV manual indicates december 13th as the release date for the pc version!

Can someone confirm that? (360 owner)

tulo

lol, read up... I already asked about that. Someone here said he didn't find anything, But I suggest more people check it to be 100% sure.
