Starcraft and the expansion Brood War is the way to go man. It may be old but I find the simplisticness of the game to be great. I'm still playing the game online with friends and even the single player campaign once in awhile.
My PS2 still works like a charm, I bought it a month after it launched in the UK like 5 years ago. never had a problem with it. Great little console. Still got FF12 to finish :)
