The X11, X31, and X41 are all fantastic headsets at different prices.

The X11 is about $60 and is a great wired stereo set with microphone monitoring and bass boost.

The X31 is a wireless stereo headset at $99 with chat boost, mic monitor, stereo expander, and bass boost.

The X41 is a wireless Dolby 7.1 Surround sound set at $199 with surround sound, chat boost, mic monitor, bass boost, and 50mm speakers.

I have the X41's and they are by the most amazing gaming headset out. You can't go wrong with Turtle Beach, and you should get the best model you can get your hands on.

I have a pair of PX21's for my PS3. They are fantastic. Great sound, and full featured. With TB you get the microphone monitoring, chat boost, stereo expander... all kinds of stuff. I'm going to pair it with my DSS to make them full 7.1 soon! Def grab a pair.

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]

Hook up the dongle for the component cables and that's got an optical jack on it, hook that optical out to the optical in for the headset

Black-Stealth_I

sorry im not sure, I have x11s do I connect the usb into the pc aswell?

The USB is for power. You need that.

You can either connect the X11 with the red/white provided splitter, or use the green 3.5mm headphone style jack.

[QUOTE="markop2003"][QUOTE="SithWarrior86"]Also the problem with Tritton and Astro headsets are that they typically have bad bass responseHeirren

Good headsets have weak bass, bass is non-directional and so it just clouds the soundstage when gaming

That's not true, and there's no other way to put it. Good headphones accurately reproduce the sound it is being fed, though a separate amp is usually important.

And, your playing video games. You want sick bass lets be serious. BOOM

This is virtual 7.1 sound, which you hardly need for gaming. Headphones have excellent positioning, even without Dolby. Personally, I hate what Dolby Headphone does to the sound when I game, and music is even worse. However, if you like the way it sounds, then by all means you can buy it. In addition, if you like the way it sounds with music, you can just do it through foobar2000 without any external hardware required. http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/447089/5-1-headphone-experience-foobar-configuration-for-all-stereo-music-files .Luminouslight

Thats a PC program for emulating virtual 7.1 surround sound for music...so im not sure what you point is. Stereo headset have left and right positioning...and 7.1 is imporant for games which use directional sound cues like Call of Duty.

Anyway, this added to a stereo gaming headset will turn your headset into an awesome pair like the Turtle Beach X41:

im looking into the trittons and the Astro A40's

And i want to know does bass really help you sound spot etc. in cod or Uncharted 2?

If anyone has Headsets that they recommend please reply.

The best gaming headset (NOT AUDIOPHILE) is the Turtle Beach X41. It has the best sound and features that Tritton and Astro do not such as microphone monitoring and chat boost. Also the problem with Tritton and Astro headsets are that they typically have bad bass response, and the Astro's can sound downright "tinny" which is especially not good for a $250 headset. You can find X41's for about $180 from most retailers. Features list here:

Dude if you want a real gaming headset, buy a real gaming headset, not something with pretty designs on the side. Turtle Beach!

Are the Turtle beach X11's worth it if I have a 360 wireless headset and a xrocker already? Also in the market for a PC headset so its nice that it doubles as one. Opnions? Hate it? Love it and why you hate it/love it. Opnions on better headests and what makes them better to these?

bleedingsouls

They are def worth it. You are going to get much better sound than on the xRocker chair :P

The X11's are great I use them on both my Xbox 360 and the PC. Great sound, great communcation, great price and features.

COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO HATES MW2 AND LOVES BFBC2:

Black Ops will be awesome. A setting generally untouched by games of this type before, who showed with WaW they can show the dark side of combat. WaW was not the best, but it certainly was not the worst.
