If you interested in a specific gaming headset, I find the TB X41 has audiophile quality sound in addition to the great gaming features:

Ok, so I am planning on buying the Turtle Beach Ear Force x 31's but I want to make sure they are good. I do not really want to spend $200 on the x41's but if they are a lot better I would consider them. I was also considering the HPA2's. Does the 5.1 surround sound make that much of a difference from the enhanced stereo? I have always used the Xbox 360 headsets so I don't really know what to get. Please help if you can.

Hey there,

I have a ton of experience with TB headsets as well as the other brands, so I can help you.

The X31 is a great headset, excellent expanded stereo sound, wireless, packed with features. The X41 are Dolby 7.1 however, making them significantly better. They actually are the best sounding gaming headset on the market. Deep bass, crisp highs. If you can spend the money, you will not go wrong. However, by no means should you sleep on the X31s.

As for the HPA2, you would need a mixamp and the HPX version to use these with an Xbox 360. Unless you were attending competitions, I would stick to the X41 or X31 for in home use. The TB's also have features others do not like microphone monitoring, chat boost, etc:

Yes, you can use two at the same time. Each XLC comes with a red/white splitter cable that you can "piggyback." From your TV, plug in one XLC, then the second, then the red/white composite from the Xbox 360. Its just like in the second diagram (look at the splitter), but you do it twice:

Great headset for the money, they have 40mm and great sound.

Excellent choice of headset! If you want to use the headset with Xbox 360, then yes, you will need the Astro Mixamp. The HPX has not been discontinued, just get the HPX-1 for Astro Mixamp here:

I might get a ear force x31 and I have a wirelessn router. My dad uses a roku box all the time. Would it interfere with that? His roku box is only wireless g.

You will not have any problems with the roku box and the X31. I have my headset and transmitter in the same entertainment center, no problems. Your going to love the X31.

You can adjust the sensitivity however you want. If you need it to be more precise, lower the sensitivity. If you need to be able to adjust your view around the screen quickly, raise the sensitivity. You can also look into getting these analog stick attachments from kontrolfreek.com to further increase your precision without sacrificing your ability to turn around quickly.abdelmessih101

While I would agree that aiming on the PC is best, I think these add-ons really help close the gap. Much quicker to aim.

To add to those problems, it eats through batteries (AAA's every 4th day or so) and it ruins my connection.

Ive had connections errors for a long time and thought I finally fixed it just before I got the X31's. When I was messing around earlier I couldnt connect, unplugged the wireless connector, connected, plugged it back in, couldnt connect.

I am thouroughly dissapoint.

Supaman222

Hey Supaman,

I think I can solve your issue. The reason you are getting an echoing is due to the controller cable not making a good connection to the headset. Contact TB support and tell them you have an echo, and they will send you a new cable free of charge. That will solve the echo, static, and loss of microphone functionality. As for the batteries, you if you play alot, get two pairs and a recharge unit (you can find them on eBay for about $10) and just swap them out once or twice a week.

Like I said before, just contact support for the free replacement cable, and you will really enjoy your headset.

You should try changing the wireless broadcast channel to either 1 or 14, that may help put the router and the headset and opposite ends of the spectrum.

I am a huge fan of FPS freeks, the extra range of motion is critical when i'm playing MW2 or BFBC2. My brother and I purchased the combo back and he uses Speed freek, and it reallyhelps when controlling the vehicles since it keeps your thumb comfortably locked onto the controller. I definatly recommend them both.
