Wow, it's been just over 2 months since my last entry - HOW LAZY AM I?!?!?
Well, needless to say, tons of stuff has happened!
I've now finished Uni (WOO!!!), but I'm still waiting for my results - Clasical Piano, anyone?
My Manga collection has grown considerably - I now have Naruto 1-27, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist 1-24 and the second VIZBIG volume of Dragon Ball Z. I also found the Bleach: All Colour But The Black art book - its really cool!!
Bleach V 25 should be coming out (here) soon, as well as the second Volume of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, oh and the December Shonen Jump :D
OK, Anime-wise, I now have Dragon Ball Z Seasons 1, 3, 4 and 5 (that's everything up to the Super Trunks vs Cell fight [but I'm missing the "Namek" season]).
I also have Naruto, but only episodes 1-100 - I've been too lazy to get more - I have the manga :D
And even though it wasn't for me, I brought Elfen Lied for my best friend - its a cool Box Set - for his birthday :)
OK, now, GAMES!!
Let's start with the PSP...nothing new....except BLEACH: SOUL CARNIVAL!!!!
This is trully one of the most fun games I have ever played. I can't even begin to describe how cool it is!!
The final stage of Challenge mode is one of the most hardest levels I have ever played in any game - its awesome!!! If you can, I really recommend this game!!
OK, PS2, Not sure if I said this last time, but I got my hands on Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3. Its a pretty fun fighter, the controlls are easy to pick up so anyone can play. Walking around the (understandable small) Konoha Villiage is nice too. The minigames are ... fun at first, but can become repetative and irksome.
Overall, it was pretty fun...but before I could finish it something else caught my attention:
Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World.
Hmm... very mixed opinions with this game, but first impression: re-hash of Budokai 3. Now that's not really a bad thing...is it?
Well the fighting system has been upgraded to include some manoeuvres from Burst Limit (PS3) and Shin Budokai (PSP). The story mode has been drastically changed to include various mini games and missions where you actually get to walk around. These walking missions (usually controlling Goku, but not all the time) are ... well, they're a little bit of a double-edged sword. They're fun and new, and the graphics look great, but the controls can leave a bit to be desired. You can only jump, double jump and dash. No flying. The jumps that these characters execute are very fast and sometimes hard to control. But once you get used to it, it becomes manageable... sort of. The mini games range from you controlling Frieza and trying to shoot down Piccolo, training with Goku, Vegeta, Trunks and Gohan (button input), Krillen running from Vegeta (flying through rings), Cell running away from Piccolo and so on. These are fun, but once completed that's it.
There are also awesome cut scenes that accompany some fights. They look fantastic and look as though they come straight from Burst Limit.
But once the Story mode is fully competed...that's about it. Unless you count Fighters Road - it's just 100+ fights. You do need to complete it to obtain 100% of the capsules, though. Ah, yes, the capsule system is back, but it has been upgraded so that it's much easier to use - transformations are just 1 capsule ALL the time, they only ever take up 1 slot. Capsules are also upgradeable......with money, not experience. That being said, though, money is fairly easy to obtain with the "We Gotta Power" capsules.
All of the menu screens have absolutely NO voice overs. It's a silent game now. This is an annoying step backwards. The only talking you'll hear is in cut scenes and the actual fights. Thankfully Japanese voices are still available.
The game also has a very odd difficulty system. It ranges from Very Easy to Z (Very Hard and Z must be purchased) yet when fighting on Very Easy, the AI will still pummel you mercilessly as though the difficulty was set on Hard or higher. It makes for a wonderful challenge, however when fighting Android #18 and she is constantly using the Aura Burning technique (the most annoying move in the entire game) and spamming the attack where she rushes at you (VERY difficult to avoid) then does it again as soon as you hit the ground, it can get very annoying.
There are also some new characters (Syn Shenron, Pikkon, Janemba, Super 17, Baby Vegeta 2, GT Vegeta, etc), as well as characters having new attacks, some having 2 ultimates and some ultimates being used in real time.
As wonderful as that sounds (and it is a very good improvement), there are several mistakes that make some characters broken, or unusable; an example being Syn Shenron (a new character) - even though you are able to equip all of the attack capsules, the attacks can't be used until Syn Shenron transforms into Omega Shenron, making Syn Shenron a character with no Super attacks and no Ultimate!! Kid Buu's Ultimate is also incorrectly named the "Instant Transition Kamehameha".
All up, Infinite World feels rushed and more like a quick cash in. Even though it's a really good and fun game, it should have been treated with more care and thought, seeing as how this is the last DBZ title for the PS2.
Moving on to the DS:
I have an R4. I have MANY new games now :D
OK, I've already said a lot, so I'll keep this quick:
Mario Kart = fun racing
Drawn To Life = fun and cute, you can be as creative as you want.
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2008 = A Yu-Gi-Oh game. Its good :D
The World Ends With You = A truly fun game. One of the best for DS
Bleach The 3rd Phantom = Haven't played it much (it's the newest) but so far, good.
Digimon World Championship = fairly good, just like the old tamagotchi toys, but you can have more than 1
Pokemon Platinum = not played much - I'm waiting for the English version, I don't want to play the same game twice.
Dragon Quest The Chapters of the Chosen = Another great game for the DS. Not too far into it, but having tons of fun with it.
Dragon Ball DS/Dragon Ball Origins = Played the Japanese version up to a certain point, then realised "damn I have to do the exact same thing with the English one". Yet another fantastic DS game. Get it!!
Bleach Dark Souls = Haven't played it much, but a great fighter. Fantastic sequel game.
Jump! Ultimate Stars = the most played. Not finished, need a break from it. Very fun, but a little repetitive.
Pokemon Bloody Diamond = Pokemon Diamond hack. Able to catch ALL pokemon in this game. Gym battles harder, wild pokemon much stronger. Elite 4 + champion, VERY HARD. Awesome hack :D
WOW!!! That's a lot! I may not post often but when I do...it's too much!!
That's all for now...
