@johnnyarks @Slagar Yeah, I bet that was a difficult decision for MS, and maybe they'll offer a Kinect-free version for $399 as you say. The only downfall with that approach is Kinect's potential would greatly be reduced by only some people having it :( Can't win I guess lol
Each to his own. For me, the XB1 has a much better controller; I want the new Kinect, it looks very promising and will likely get better with time; the OS and media-box functionality are much better; I also prefer the look of MS' exclusives so far.
For me, the XB1 makes sense at launch, but also as an investment for the next ~8+ years.
That said, I can understand other people who want the more traditional offline console, and/or prefer PS4's offerings, game lineup etc. I can definitely see PS4 pulling ahead in sales because of cheaper price, but I don't think it will hurt MS too much in the long run. It's going to be a great holiday season for all, and it will nice to see PC games not held back so much!
@giocher @Clownbabby Mmm, it was different. I didn't necessarily like the unconventional shape of the buttons - I think too many years of round ones made it seem a little unnatural for me (just my opinion of course).
I personally have to choose the Sega Saturn controller as my most comfortable of all time (like an improved 6-button genesis controller). It didn't have the features of a modern controller though. I also think the Dreamcast controller, even though not perfectly ergonomic, was an important step forward as a well-designed controller - Xbox used that as their template.
@Reddevil66666 @clr84651 I'm a bit concerned about that too - a little heft gives it a feel of quality. If it's too light, it feels cheap and breakable - like many budget 3rd party controllers. The design looks very nice though; and the changes in vibrating the triggers sounds pretty sweet - can't wait to try it.
For me, the DualShock controller was cool back on the PS1, but I always felt like having my thumbs at the same level was awkward, and having four shoulder buttons always annoyed the crap out of me.
I still prefer the Sega Saturn controller to the DualShock, tbh - I found that controller very comfortable! - and Sony just haven't been able to get it right over the years.
Xbox controllers have always had a nice feel to them IMO - it's clear they always put a lot of effort in their designs, to make them ergonomic and comfortable - even the original HUGE-HANDS Xbox controller was very comfortable, despite being big.
I think Sony's design of consoles and their controllers has always been pretty bad, apart from introducing the original DualShock IMO.
