Just came back from seeing the movie. Absolutely amazing. Nonstop action. Awesome fight scenes. 9/10.

[QUOTE="PannicAtack"]It'd be nice if Superman got a better movie.PannicAtack

From what I've read and heard, Man of Steel is an amazing movie. But for some reason, the professional critics didn't like it. One should wonder what's going on when 42% (out of 190) of "professional critics" consider Man of Steel rotten, but 82% (out of 81,641) of everyday people scored it 3.5 or higher (out of 5). Moreover, for some reason, a professional critic can give a movie something like a B-, but then have their review counted as rotten on Rottentomatoes.com. Very misleading.

Not only that, but on Metacritic the user score for Man of Steel is sitting at 8.9 (out of 10).

Average viewers also thought The Boondock Saints was good.

They also thought Batman Begins was good. I haven't seen The Boondock Saints. Have you? Perhaps it is good. In any case, when it comes to movies at least, I'd take the consensus of 81,641 people over 190 people. The only difference between these two groups is the 190 can by and large write better and are better at grabbing attention. Consequently, this is the reason why they can make a living off reviewing movies.

I've always found the people who don't like Superman because he's too good or powerful as odd. In a sense, it's funny because this is like reading a Batman comic or Batman movie, and then giving it a negative review because, "That guy is too cynical and whiney." What I mean to say is it makes just as much sense (i.e. no sense) to ask for a cynical Superman than it is to ask for an inspiring, cheerful, and optimistic Batman.

Also, Superman isn't supposed to be relatable. He's supposed to transcend you. He's supposed to inspire you to become a more moral and optimistic person. It's like looking at the personification of idealism and saying, "Amazing. I wish I were like that. I'll try to be like that."

Batman, on the other hand, is easier for some people--especially angst-ridden children and adults--because he appeals to negativity, cynicism, etc., that is already present in all human beings.

In some ways Batman is an even more unbelievable character than Superman. Bruce Wayne is a multi-billionaire, who happens to be a genius, who happens to be an incredible detective, who happens to be an ingenious inventor, who happens to be a master of numerous martial arts, and who happens to possess incredible (peak human) physical gifts. When compared to other human beings, Batman is extraordinary.

Superman on the other hand, when compared to other Kryptonians, is not extraordinary. The only thing extraordinary about Superman is his moral character.
