problem with last PC gens is that not many people got to experience the great games that people with a good gaming PC could. PC gaming was mroe expensive in previous gens than this Gen. This is the only gen i remember where I can pretty much max out anything on a 3 year old video card, witht the exception of crysis. In this recession PC gaming will never be as dominant in terms of Big bidget titles, but it will evolve and smaller indie devs will come up with great ideas. Until then I will still enjoy my Halo and Gears of war thank you.
i was getting ready to own you, but i see what you did theres. Anyway Starcraft is a perfect example of a game that relies on its gameplay and presentation merits, and overall polish not michael bay explosions and Eminem music to promote itself as a great game. However i do like me some Eminem.
lets see hmmmmm. Half-Life 1, modders hat made action quake made action Half-Life which led to counterstrike mod, Valve hires them makes a full Counterstrike game, fun ensues, years of mod support through half life and counterstrike. Team Fortress 1 and Deathmatch classic. Half-Life 2 the new source engine pushes physics and graphics tech, Counterstrike source, tons of modding tools again. Community zombie mods inspire Left 4 dead idea as a modder for UT2K4 catches valves attention witht he alien swarm mod, has them make Left 4 dead and Left 4 dead 2, a small college group makes a puzzle game using the source engine, is hired by valve and they recreate their mod and Portal is born, Not to mention Steam as an online service and online store, episode 1 and 2. Basically one of the best developers in the last decade for community support, hiring indie talent college student s and what not. Hope those answer your question.
