[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Companies hire as needed. With the government doing nothing to end outsourcing...it's not going to get better. And BOTH parties allow it.LJS9502_basic

They really dont, republicans these days are a bastardized version of the party of old. They will not allow higher tarrifs which would end outsourcing, because their pledge to never raise taxes includes import taxes on china. Ever since the tea party took over, the economy went to hell in a handbasket.

When have the Democrats even talked about ending outsourcing? Any bill that a party wants passed has a way to get it passed if they add the right riders.

often, its a platform that tested well and they have run on. The problem is, republicans consider it a tax increase if you raise tariffs on imports, if you close tax loopholes, or if you end subsidies. And they have all signed pledges forbading all of those avenues.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] End subsidies? You do realize the farming industry is heavily subsidized right? So, in the same thread you complain about people starving you are advocating increasing the price of food......LJS9502_basic

how much do you think it would impact food prices? honestly, tell me.

Increased cost of production is always passed on the consumer.

it might be... but lets put it this way... how much do you pay for a head of iceberg lettuce? $1.50?

How much do you pay someone that picks iceberg lettuce? $7 an hour? So lets say they are slow and lazy... only pick 2 heads of lettuce a minute. Thats $7 in compensation for picking 120 heads of lettuce. So if they are the slowest and laziest lettuce picker in existence... only about 5 cents of your lettuce price is actually labor. Meaning if you paid 5 cents more for your head of lettuce, you would double the lettuce picker's salary.

Its a smear campaign to turn you against your own interests (funded by billionaires), the cost of labor of a food product is next to nothing.

But in reality, lettuce pickers probably get at least 10 heads a minute, meaning the labor cost is about 1 cent per head.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] Well I'm not a Republican....and I believe tax loopholes should not exist.....but I'd imagine their thinking is that they want the companies to stay healthy profitwise to continue in operation. Not necessarily that they eventually will spend money because they have too much.

LJS9502_basic

The recession hasnt been dragging on because companies cant hire, its because they dont want to. I think the estimation is like 4 trillion, that US companies are just chillaxing with in cash holdings. Republicans want to give them tax break, in hopes that they will one day spend some money. Maybe after 5 or 6 trillion ... maybe 7? basically the idea is to give them so much money they eventually have to spend some of it.

tell that to the political party that refuses to close tax loopholes and end subsidies.

Ill give you a hint fractions of a cent. The majority of food costs are profit margins from the retailer and transportation costs.

[QUOTE="SpartanMSU"]

There's no facts or evidence in conservative economics?:lol:

I'm an atheist and a conservative.

You fail.

I'm done.

SpartanMSU

what are the facts supporting conservative economics? Is there a conservative economic policy country we can look to for motivation?

Its basically the we will eat nothign but butter theory. "I want to lose weight, so im gonna eat nothing but butter!" "But nobody has ever lost weight eating nothing but butter!" "Thats why its crazy enough to work!"

Hong-Kong.

One man's example for something could be another man's example against it. Also, if you're referring to me giving an example of a 100% free market/capitalist libertarian country, there isn't one. Just like there isn't an example of a 100% socialist or communist country.

Your argument fails.

there are plenty of countries out there which can be compared on measurable indices... If you want to compare things like healthcare outcomes, GDP growth, Education... there are alot of countries that can be examined.

[QUOTE="Mafiree"]What is conservative economics?LJS9502_basic

conservative economics is that the reason most companies arent creating jobs, isnt because they have billions in cash holdings.... its because they need tax breaks.... because eventually if you give companies enough money... they theoretically will get fed up with having too much money and will have to spend it at some point.

Who came up with that theory? There is no such thing as too much money.
