[QUOTE="X360PS3AMD05"]People expect things to happen overnight?Mafiree
2.5 years in office is enough time to have some effect. Obama himself believed that unemployment would not go above 8% if the stimulus package he introduced was passed.

Thats because everyone undestimated the impact of the financial crisis.... and not just the government, same goes for for the all-knowing private sector. If you are asking why obama isnt smarter than everyone else on the planet.... well i dont have an answer... other than thats an incredibly unreasonable expectation.

But the stimulus certainly helped to some extent.

Napoleon Dynomite. I really didn't get it. I understand it was supposed to be a comedy, I just don't see how they attempted to make it funny.

wrong generation probably. It was meant for people that grew during the 80s and early 90s. The movie itself wasnt very good.... but it had a whole lot of "hey, i remember that!" moments for us old timers that made it enjoyable.

Uhoh! Looks like things can go either way for me now. If I get convicted: Bye bye finance degree, hello pirating on the open seas!

DRAGONPIECEZ

if it comes to pirating i have scurvy and sailing experience if you are taking applications.

btw i was originally a finance major... my god it was boring.... so good luck with that.

Sad for your loss, my grandmother smoked 2 packs a day for 60 years and didnt die of a smoking related illness.

different strokes i suppose.

But that website actually has no credible information, they dont even link the studies these claims are based off of.... would get marked down in a term paper.

Zensword

1. Your grandmother smokes 2 packs a day for 60 years and didnt die of smoking related illness. ?

That's BS.

2. You're funny. You say that website has no credible and yet you claimd 2nd hand smoke doesn't cause cancerdespite a ton of studies say otherwise.

2nd hand smoke doesnt actually cause cancer or anything like that... beyond the scenarios you talked about of non smokers living with smokers... but i actually havent seen any studies that reliably support that theory.

SoBaus

well she died of gall bladder cancer, which is technically a smoking related illness... but thats merely because everything is a smoking related illness. But its also a breathing related illness and an eating related illness. Either way... no lung cancer which is supposedly what smoking causes. Heart disease is becoming more and more common as smoking becomes less common... but heart disease is a smoking related illness.

I believe the amount of smokers that die from smoking is around 1/3rd...

and as the amount of smokers have declined... the rate of lung cancer in non smokers is sharply inclining. So less smokers = more lung cancer in non smokers.

have to wonder how things like heart disease and lung cancer can become more common.... as smoking becomes less common. It almost suggests that maybe, they have nothing to do with smokers.

The reason heart disease and lung cancer rates are on the rise... is because people eat crappy food and breathe in pollution. Smoking has nothing to do with it... or they would be declining along with smoking.

[QUOTE="DavidianMH"] I've never heard of anyone dying from passive-smoking :? And you know it takes hundreds of thousands of cigs to kill someone right?yourmajesty90

Now you do.

"We now know that 53,800 people die every year from secondhand smoke exposure. This number is based on the midpoint numbers for heart disease deaths (48,500), lung cancer deaths (3,000), and SIDS deaths (2,300) as calculated in the 1997 California EPA Report on Secondhand Smoke."

Thanks for the link! :D
Someone very close died, and it was related to smoking. So, I kinda been there.

[QUOTE="8-Bitterness"] Or you know, it could be hundreds of thousands of whiffs....DavidianMH

It could, but you don't know when.

I've never heard of anyone dying from passive-smoking :? And you know it takes hundreds of thousands of cigs to kill someone right?

i believe a smoker can smoke hundreds of thousands of cigarettes before getting lung cancer... but just the smell can give a non smoker cancer.

Thats why i took up smoking, to prevent lung cancer.

[QUOTE="8-Bitterness"] Now, the damn smoke that's coming out is filtered when it enters the smoker... explain to me how the f*** does it become unfiltered once it exits the smoker? When you have a sore throat EVERYTHING will make it feel bad, and not a lot of people die from passive smoking, not enough to assume that a damn whiff will kill you.8-Bitterness

Ok, calm down. Passive smoking is actually a big deal. You don't know how the body reacts to it. It could be 10 whiffs, 20, 30 or even 1 that will have a negative reaction on a cell in your body and a cancer starts.

Or you know, it could be hundreds of thousands of whiffs....

Not true, havent you heard of all those smokers that died after 1-30 drags? You know... that big list.... of all the people that died of 1-30 drags... which is probably 2 cigarettes. That huge list of deaths from people that smoked 2 cigarettes... this is all fact and definitely happened.

[QUOTE="Nibroc420"] I'll give you a hint: Not everyone in the world is from the US. ;)Nibroc420

doesnt matter, no country is even close to sustaining their energy needs on renewable energy.

And think of all the huge US servers that need to be in place just to make these forums possible.... by posting here you are supporting these pollution factories.... shameful, good sir.

:| Your logic is flawed, even if i wasn't posting here the servers would be up and polluting.

I assure you, my logic is never flawed.

If nobody posted on the gamespot forums, the servers wouldnt exist... the more people that post... the more servers necessary to facilitate the load. So by being one of the masses, you are essentially throwing coal dust into a newborn baby's lungs, good sir.

I wish it could. People die from passive smoking, as the smoke that comes out is unfiltered therefore more harmful. Besides, it's really annoying when you've got a sore throat and have to cough.

ahh yes the old 2nd hand smoke is more deadly than first hand (yes people, these F'n anti smoking groups actually say this crap).... lol dunno how i missed that one (good catch though).

If someone cant figure out that, that claim is pure lobbyist BS... i weep for their basic reasoning abilities.
