The Blog: Because the last one was too long for some people - Edition

I'll try to keep this one shorter because a couple of people *cougheveryonecough* complained that the last one was too long. :P

I don't really need a long blog this time anyway because there isn't much to add.

We'll start with what I did last night... I went technically on my first date. Of course, before last night I had been to plenty of movies with girls, but I had never been with just one and no one else to supervise us. I don't know if you could exactly call it a date though because nothing happened besides a few hugs. :P

I've also been practicing on the guitar a lot more lately. I've finally found the most comfortable way for me to hold the pick and now I'm progressing a lot better than I was before.

Just today my first CD ever got here! :D I ordered it from Amazon before it came out and it released yesterday. I didn't think I'd get it until around Friday but it ended up here today! :o

http://legions-of-the-dark.com/covers/Behemoth%20Evangelion.jpg

Woo! :D So now I can start my collection. Next summer when I get a job I hope to get a bunch more CDs. I've decided that instead of preordering on iTunes I'll actually preorder the CD from Amazon or Walmart or anywhere. In September I'm looking forward to three albums: Breaking Benjamin's 'Dear Agony' on the 29th, Five Finger Death Punch's 'War is the Answer' in the 22nd, and Arch Enemy's 'The Root of All Evil' on the 29th. And here is the song of the blog:

I Will Not Bow by Breaking Benjamin (first song released from Dear Agony)

I'm listening to it as I type this blog and I can say I'm really looking forward to the new album. It should be great. :D

Well, that about ends this one. :P

GO TO THE LEGEND OF NINTENDO UNION!

That would be all. :P

~Sora

And now a message from our sponsors...

*ahem*

Well, now that I'm all back and settled in again, it's time for me to get down to business...

Serious. Business.

Three words: Legend of Nintendo Union.

What? Four words? No, you're just hearing things. Clean out your ears so you can listen to this next part...

---

Begin... transmission...

Hello, I am Sorabot, a creation of the leader and founder of the Legend of Nintendo Union (originally called the Pokemon Story Union) and I am here today to tell you about the LoNU in a way that may cause you to want to join.

You see, while trying to be a good little telemarketer-thingy-person, I'm going to show you what you could find at the union...that we all want you to join in on!

Want the latest news on all things Nintendo? Look no further! Want to help create an epic story? Right over here!

As a member of the LoNU, you would be able to write review for games that will be featured every week, and join in with union games and tournaments.

The Pokemon Story Union was founded in September of last year. Sadly, the union never really grew into what everyone who was part of it hoped it would. Recently, though, the union underwent a name change and the LoNU was born. The activity at the union has increased dramatically since the name change, as shown by the number of views. From September of last year to June 8th of this year, we only got 10,000 views. From June 8th to today, we have gotten over 20,000 new views, putting us on the list of top 10 Nintendo unions for views. Sadly, as of right now the union is slowing down again because there are only a few dedicated members who post regularly. I think the problem is that so many people are already part of a Nintendo union that they don't want to join another one. It still wouldn't hurt to give the union a try though, would it?

Current going ons in the union include a "Nintendo's best game competition" and a tournament still accepting entries (using the game Super Smash Brothers: Brawl).

So, come on everyone, come on down to the Legend of Nintendo Union and take a nice look around! Join, post, and have fun with all of the great people you will find there. See you there! /transmission Sorabot

---

*Turns off Sorabot*

Well, now that that's out... read it! Absorb it! DO WHAT IT SAYS! Join the union and help us all out, have fun, blah blah, get owned by me in video games and stuff...

Let's see... Aside from that uh... suggestion from Sorabot, I don't have much else to say...

BESIDES THE FACT THAT I GOT MY CAR! :o

Two days ago (or yesterday if it's not midnight for you yet :P) (OK IT WAS ON SUNDAY YOU HAPPY?) I rode allllll the way down to Massachusetts to pick up my very first car. My uncle's elderly neighbor and friend was put into the hospital and she ended up giving him the car. He was looking for someone to sell it to, and my dad decided to buy it for me.

$900 dollars later, and I have a pretty decent first car. Made in '89, but with under 20,000 miles on it, it still looks almost brand new. A few scratches here and there, but nothing I can fix up. 4 new tires, and 2 new spares. Working air conditioner and a radio (no CD player though, more on the music part in a minute). Comfy seats and a built in security system. Yes, it's a nice car for me to start out with. I have to wait until January to do any driving though, because I'm only 15 right now. I'll be doing plenty of practice out behind my house though. :P

Now for the music predicament... which I finally found a solution to! :o

Since I knew the car was old, I knew there wouldn't be a very good radio on it. No CD player. Well, the solution came to me while riding back from Mass.: iPod radio converter! :o The car has one of those lighter things on it that you don't see anymore, and if I take that out I'll be able to plug in an iPod thing that lets me listen to it on the radio. I can save some money from that because I won't have to replace the radio to listen to anything worthwhile. :D

Let's see... what else...

As far as books go (been reading a lot lately) I'm currently finishing up a new series I started in Maine: The Kingmaker, Kingbreaker series. Spaced across two 600 page or so books, the story is about a fisherman named Asher who goes to the kingdom city of Dorana to seek out riches with which he will buy his Da (what he calls his dad) a luxurious fishing boat, named after his deceased mother. What Asher finds in Dorana, though, is his destiny. He befriends a man named Gar, who just so happens to be the magicless prince of Dorana. Through Gar, Asher gets the job he has been looking for: a high paying task. As the Assistant Olken Administrator (the two tribes of people living in the world are the Olken, a race who is seemingly magicless, but they actually have dormant magic, and the Doranen, the ruling class, magicians) to Gar, Asher delves deep into the world of royal politics. Little does he know, he is destined to save the world (hence the reason why the first book is called "The Innocent Mage", because he has no clue of what he is going to do). As the final days draw near, will Asher, the Innocent Mage, guided by his one true love Dathne, Jervale's heir, be able to save the world?

There we have it, my own description of the series. I'm really enjoying it. I'm about 200 pages into the second book, and it's getting better with every page.

On the video game front, just today I started playing Little King's Story for the Wii. After playing it a few hours, I can safely say that it is a superb game, definitely worth the money. Sadly though, the game has flown under the radar and isn't selling nearly as much as it should (most retailers don't even carry the game). Regardless of that, I recommend the game to anyone who liked Pikmin or anyone who would like to play a really good game for their Wii!

Music time! The newest band that has found it's way into my ears is Catamenia. Catamenia is a Melodic Black Metal band from Oulu, Finland.

A quick history of the band (taken from Wikipedia):

---

They released their firstdemo albumin their first active year, simply titledDemo '95. Their second demo,Windsreleased in 1996, led to a four-album contract withMassacre Recordsin 1997. Their debut full-lengthalbumHalls of Frozen Northwas recorded in Commusication Studios,Beindersheim,Germany, in 1997 with Gerhard Magin (Crematory,Mystic Circle) and was released in 1998. A year later they recorded their second album,Morning Crimson(1999) in Sweden, at Sunlight Studios with Thomas Skogsberg (Katatonia,Dismember). The band's third albumEternal Winter's Prophecywas recorded in their home country in 2000 at Tico-Tico Studios with Ahti Kortelainen (Kalmah,Eternal Tears of Sorrow,Dawn of Relic). Their last album for Massacre Records was entitledEskhata, released in 2002, recorded inOulu, Finland at SoundMix Studios with producerMika Pohjola(The Black League). After the release and promotion ofEskhata, Catamenia renewed their contract with Massacre Records for three more albums, citing good working relations.

Catamenia faced many line-up changes during the rehearsal of their fifth album, but their line-up steadied and again were a six-piece for its release.

Catamenia recorded their fifth albumChaos Bornat Neo Studio in Oulu, Finland with Kari Vähäkuopus and Immu Ilmarinen (Burning Point,Embraze,Afterworld,Sentenced).ChaosBorncombines melodics and aggressive metal with excellent balance. After praise from media and their fans forChaosBorn,Winternight Tragedieswas stated as their sixth studio release, again with Mastervox Studios and producers Kakke Vähäkuopus and Immu Ilmarinen.

While working onWinternight Tragedies, the band encountered problems with collaboration, distance and lack of practice. As a result line-up changes were made. Vocalist Mika and bassist Timo were replaced by new vocalist O.J. Mustonen and bassist Mikko Hepo-oja.

The album features raw, aggressive and angry songs while still keeping the melodious background intact.

In 2006, their seventh album,Location:COLDwas released. Later that year, a DVD entitled,Bringing the Cold to Poland, was released featuringliverecordings at the Stodola Club inWarsaw,Poland.

Drummer Veikko Jumisko departed from Catamenia in Spring 2007 because he was not able to join the tour anymore.

TheUStour was postponed until 2008, because of promotion problems. A short Canadian tour called Brothers of Cold took place in May 2008.

In May 2008, Olli Mustonen left the band for undisclosed reasons. It is believed since he missed the Canadian tour, he was deemed unreliable. Ari Nissilä will take over lead vocals from now on.

---

So far I am enjoying the band, and I'm looking forward of listening to more of them in the future.

Now for my top three favorite songs of the moment:

  1. Frozen Angel - Norther (sung by new vocalist Aleksi Sihvonen) - The new singer did a great job with the song, and I can't stop listening to it. I'm really looking forward to what Aleksi can do with the band. (Aleksi was formerly with the band Imperanon)
  2. YDKS - Norther - Well, while constantly listening to Frozen Angel, I usually just listen to all of my Norther music. I never really listened to this song much until I really stopped and heard how great it was. It stands for "You Don't Know ****". Great song. :D
  3. In Your Face - Children of Bodom - First off, I have to say that I don't enjoy Are You Dead Yet? and Blooddrunk NEARLY as much as I liked Something Wild, Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper, and Hate Crew Deathroll. But, I keep getting In Your Face stuck in my head, which has recently made me start my shuffles listening to it.

Well, as I close this rendition of my blog, I'm going to point out a few unions that could use your help:

  • The Legend of Nintendo Union, as shown earlier in the blog
  • The Shredder's Union - This great union has been suffering from lack of activity lately, and could really use a little boost up. If you play guitar, or like rock/metal music, go ahead and check the union out! (Leader - Darth-Caedus)
  • Blue Bomber Battalion: A union all about MegaMan! A fairly new union, the BBB is still in it's early stages of development. If anyone is a fan of MegaMan, go ahead and join! (Leader - cronomagus36)
  • The Ecchi Union - A union made to prove that ecchi is not just inappropriate. Come and join the union if you like ecchi titles such as to-LOVE-ru and Sekirei, come on down! (Leader - missanimefan)
  • The Yuri Union - Almost the same purpose of the ecchi union, but this time with Yuri. JOIN! (Leader - swimmer1029)
  • Dark Rulers Anime Union - An older union that I've been part of for a long time but admittedly almost never visit. As the name suggests, you can be as evil as you want there! (Leader - Dhameliz)
  • Clan of Evil Conquest - A union similar to the DRAU, come here and be an evil overlord! Join a squad and have some evil fun! (Leader - missanimefan)
  • Anime Fans Hideout - A union for anime fans and manga fans to hang out and have a fun time posting. (Leader - -Katsuri-)
  • The Toonami Union - Well, this union doesn't exactly need help, but I feel like it deserves a mention. My first union ever, the TU has been one of my main hang out spots since I was a complete noob here on GameSpot. With great officers and lots of great activities, the TU is a great place to be a recruit, and maybe some day an officer. :D (Leader - asvicj)

Well, that's all I have to say about unions! And so concludes my *insert number here*th blog!

~Sora

Oh hai!

Guess who's back? :o

Look up in the sky! It's a bird! No, it's a plane! No, it's... Oh, it's just Sora... /disappointment

I have returned from my vacation. :P

It was a nice trip, but it was also very boring at the same time. We had no cable or internet connection for a week so I had to keep myself entertained with reading (I read 4 books), playing video games (my DS and my brand new DSi :o), and swimming in the lake (lots of that :P).

I'm glad to be back, and now, if everyone would excuse me, I have 18 messages in my inbox, a bunch of unions to catch up in, and a bunch of unpacking to do!

~Sora

Be back in a week everyone!

I'm sure most of you know this, but I decided to post a blog anyway to say goodbye to everyone. I'm going to a lakehouse in Maine for the next week and I won't be able to use a computer, so I'll be gone for the whole week.

Catch you all later! :D

(on another note I got a couple of early birthday presents [mines on the 22nd] and I got the book I've wanted for a while... "Got the Life", Fieldy's (bassist of KoRn) book! :D)

Well, later all!

~Sora, out!

Hey look, it's that Sora kid's blog!

Welllllllcome to my blog!

This time, I don't have much to say at all! Since I'm on summer vacation and it's been raining so much here in New Hampshire, I haven't really gotten out to do anything worth telling. :P

Well... let's see...

I am currently playing:

  • The Conduit
  • Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

In The Conduit, I'm making a lot of progress. I'm rank 18/24 or something like that. I've gotten a lot better over the past week. :D If anyone still is thinking about whether or not to get the game, go ahead and read my review that I posted today!

I finally picked up Tactics again and I've almost beaten all of the story quests. I think there are only one or two more left. I'll have to review it soon. :D

In other news, I'm going to be gone for a whole week starting the 17th on a trip to a lake house in Maine. I probably won't have internet connection while I'm there, so no Sora for you guys! :P

One last thing: check out the following unions!

  • Legend of Nintendo (I'm the leader :P)
  • The Yuri Fan Club union (Leader)
  • The Blue Bomber Battalion union (Officer)
  • Dark Rulers Anime union (Officer)
  • Clan of Evil Conquest (Officer)
  • Anime Fans Hideout (Officer)
  • The Toonami Union (Recruit, been there quite a while though, it was my first union. :P)
  • Shreddin (recruit)

All of these unions are great and could use some new faces to liven things up! I command you to check them out!

Well, that's all for this time folks!

~Sora~

Innnntrooooducing.....

The Legend of Nintendo Union!

I'm sure most of you have at least heard of the Pokemon Story Union (I've mentioned it a few times in my blog before). Well, the name of the union has been changed. Why? Because the PSU wasn't working out. We had to change, and we are seeing improvement already.

The LoNU is going to be a great place. We are already planning a tournament, and we still have that incredible Pokemon story that anyone can join (which should be up soonish).

If you just click HEREyou can join in and have fun!

Come check it out! I hope to see everyone there! :D

Until next time...

~Sora~

La la lala la la lala, Sora's blog

Yeah, so I typed up a long blog about a week ago and when I tried to submit it, the whole thing got erased and NEVER SUBMITTED. :x

So, I am finally motivated to do another one. Hopefully this one works. :|

Let's see, I saw Korn on the 23rd, and it was awesome. A very enjoyable experience. They played most of their good songs, or at least the ones I like most, with highlights being Good God, Blind, Ball Tongue, Got the Life, Did My Time, Right Now, and many more.

I have a couple of weeks left of school until I get out, which I find both good and bad. The good, of course, is that SCHOOL WILL BE OVER FOR THE SUMMER. That should be obvious...no more waking up at 6 in the morning, no more homework, and no restrictions on when I can or can't listen to music. The bad...I won't get to see my friends as much, and I'm very worried that one of them in particular might be moving out of the country. That friend just happens to be the one I have liked for almost two years now (since she first moved here from Australia) and it would be really hard to see her leave. Especially at a time when I won't get to see her to say goodbye because of her strict parents. They haven't let her do anything with me and my other friends (most of whom are girls) in the two years she has been here. That, and her father doesn't like me, even though we haven't met. Long story short, I said the wrong thing to her at the wrong time and he saw what it was.

Lately I've been wanted to get more music everyday, but I'm finding it harder and harder to find a band I would like to listen to. It doesn't help that none of my friends at school like to listen to the same kind of music as me (which is to be expected, seeing as most of them are girls). Most of them like Pop and Rap, with some Rock and *shudder* Screamo. Also, since I download from Youtube, it is a pain to find videos with good enough quality to listen to. I'd get the music some other way, but it was hard enough convincing my mother to allow me to use the Youtube downloader to get music.

As far as school goes, my grades are about the same they have been all year. I'm doing good in Gym (100), okay in Health (90), somewhat good in English 1 Honors (88) and pretty bad (for my standards) in Geometry (81~83). If I can't bring my grade in Geometry up to at least an 85 by the end of the year, it will be my SECOND C ever, the first earlier this year in Global Studies (83).

Lately, I've been reading more than I usually do. My mother got me a book to a series, which means I had to finish it or I'd think about how it could end until I did read it. I'm currently on the third and last book in the series, called "City of Glass". It's an okay series, but not nearly as good as the Night Angel Trilogy that I read a month or so ago. I don't think anything I could read could top that. I need to get the last Pendragon book, because, as I said before, I can't start a series of books and not finish it. It drives me insane. :P

For video games, I'm playing a few right now:

  • Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
  • Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (second play through)
  • Kingdom Hearts II (second play through)
  • Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (on the Wii's Virtual Console)

Well, it's getting pretty late now, and I feel like reading a while before I go to bed. Since i have to wake up at 6 in the morning, I like to go to bed at 11 PM. And now it's 10:30 so I think it's time for the computer to turn off for the night. :P

Well, this has been Sora. A big thank-you to anyone who reads my blog, I really enjoy all of the comments I get. :D

Sora out!

Sora's watching you...

A few weeks ago, I announced that I was leaving for a while. Well, I'm finding myself coming back more and more these days, and I've been lurking a lot, so it's safe to say that I'm back for a while! :o

Since I've left, not much has happened. Let's see if I can come up with anything...

Well, I'm going to see Korn on the 23rd.

I've ah...stopped...purchasing my music with iTunes...I now uh...perchase it from......somewhere...that's a bit cheaper...

And because of that, I've been able to get a lot of music. I've worked on all the Melo-Death and stuff like that, and just the other day I got:

  1. In Flames
  2. Dark Tranquillity
  3. Norther
  4. Archeon
  5. Insomnium

That means I have 15 artists that I listen to regularly now. Children of Bodom is still my favorite :P

Let's see....

I got my best grade on a Geometry Honors test all semester the other day, a 91. I was so proud :D Also, on a quiz I did something like this:

The only difference was that the question was "Find the base of this trapezoid". Since I didn't remember how to find the measure, I just circled it and said "here it is". I should be getting that quiz back tomorrow so I'm eager to see what my teacher says about that. :P

I've been thinking about going back to Football again. I played for 6 years and stopped in 7th grade. My friends have been bugging me to play again for a while, and I feel like now might be the time to go back, when I start Sophmore year. It's something to think about.

My dad is making me get a haircut :( It has gotten pretty long, and I've been told I look like a girl. In fact, the other day someone on the bus said that to me and I said to him "If it really bugged me what other people think do you really believe my hair would be this long?" Some people :|

I'm planning on getting some off, but not too much. Teh ladiez like mah hair long 8) That and one of them threatened to beat me up if I got it cut too short...

I recently finished the greatest series of books I have ever read: The Night Angel Trilogy. Those were the three best books I have EVER read. They all just blew me away. I wish there was another book in the series to read. :(

Well, I guess I should finish about here, because this is probably the point where most people would lose interest :P

So, this is Sora, back from his vacation 8)

*music blasts*

I think it's time to say goodbye for a while...

Sora here, to say farewell.

Lately I've been too busy to find time to post at all...so I think I am going to leave for a while.

It will probably be until the summer time, when I'll have more free time.

I would like to thank all of my friends.

Officers of the PSU, please make a poll to determine my replacement as leader. I'm sure one of you could do a better job than me, anyway.

So, this is goodbye, at least for now. Thanks for everything everyone.

~Sora

The Blog of Random

Yeah, so I noticed that I haven't made a blog in a LONGGGGGG time. So....here we are!

First, the part that no one really cares about but people still insist on doing: An update on mah life. :o

I'm sure some of you remember the whole episode I had with that girl wayyy back then (a few months ago :P). Well, I'm glad to say I'm ALMOST over the whole thing. I still have feelings for her, but they are NOWHERE near as strong as they were before. I finally saw the light, you could say.

I was just starting to like another girl who I had liked a little before, and after spending some time with her started to really like her, but she already likes someone else...but I didn't let that get me down. Compared to what I went through before, getting over her was a walk in the park. :P

(I guess I have no luck with girls :P)

Hm...what else to spout out... Oh yeah, that might work.

After being harassed on OT (The Off Topic Discussion board, I'm sure you all know what it is) about my choice in music, I have tried out different bands recommended to me, and so far I enjoy Opeth, Amon Amarth, and Children of Bodom. All three are great bands, but out of the three CoB is my favorite. I plan on getting more from them in the future. :) (Thanks to Darth Caedus for the harassment and recommendation :P)

Hmmmm....*digs deep for something to say*

School wise, my grades have gone down a lot, but I'm trying hard to pull them back up. Before, around the beginning of the year, I would have probably been in the top 10 in my grade (out of 432) but right now I'm ranked at 50 with a GPA a little over 4.0. The reason for my grades slipping is because of many things, but mostly stress. I'm not going to say my honors level cIasses are HARD, all of my stress has started to make me care less. I mean, I find it hard to put full effort into something that I won't need when I'm out of school. Take Geometry for example. Writing proofs is probably the most pointless thing I have ever done. Who cares that triangle ABC is congruent to triangle XYZ? I sure don't. I enjoy English more though, because I love writing. Now if only they didn't give us a topic to write about... I consider myself a pretty good writer, at least compared to most people in my cIass

I better wrap this up before my computer BSoD's again. It does it all the time...and it's new too. Had it since January 31st. Haven't bothered to have it looked at.

Let's see...is there anything else to talk about...

Well, I guess this IS a gaming website, so I should mention something about gaming... :P

As far as games I'm playing goes, I'm enjoying a bunch right now. I'm just about finished with Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, I play Dragon Quest IV on and off, I recently bought Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon, and just yesterday I decided to play through Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn on a higher difficulty level. Along with that, I play Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, along with Animal Crossing City Folk, on a regular basis. I haven't had as much time for gaming lately, but I still find some time in my schedule. It's necessary for me. :P

I guess that's good for now. Before I hit the "Submit" button and wait 5 to 10 minutes for the blog to post itself, I'm going to take a minute to advertise the Pokemon Story Union.

I know I've done this in previous blogs, but when people see a new blog and read through it, maybe they will think twice.

Ok, here goes. *goes to find something I said before about it, but is distracted by The Ecchi Union*

Oh, oh, oh, sorry, got distracted for a minute. Ok, here we go.

I'm SoraX64, leader of the Pokemon Story Union. If any of you go to the Pokemon Platinum boards, or at least went there before September, you might have seen the topic "You wake up one day as a Pokemon. Which Pokemon are you?"

I made this topic when I was newer here, not thinking it would amount to anything. At first, it noone really took it seriously, but soon, some people really started to take it seriously. A great story was created, a very creative one.

Before I knew it, we were on V4 of the topic, and that is around when I decided to make the union dedicated to the story, and where it could continue.

I overlooked, however, that many of the posters on the Platinum boards use GameFaqs, which does not include unions. I couldn't convince nearly any people to use GameSpot, so I could only get a few members to start. These are my officers. The officers of the union are great people, and they have been with the story a long time. More than I have.

What I'm asking you guys, is that if you are a fan of Pokemon, or if you just like creative writing, to give the union a shot. The story is great, and you can be really creative and have lots of fun when you join in.

Sadly, the union is dying because not many people go there. Please, don't let this awesome union die, please help us out.

If you would please, PLEASE just give the union a shot, go here and join up, introduce yourself. Have fun. Its fun there.

Thank you for your time,

~Sora, leader of the Pokemon Story Union"

Yeah, you see all that? I posted it in the Union Recruitment forum, and it DIDN'T GET ONE REPLY. It just died. Made me angry! :x

Well, I guess that's enough for now.

Coming at you live from his bedroom, this was Sora.
